Specialists at the World Organization for Resource Development and Education (WORDE) argue that effective civil society engagement is the missing piece towards securing Afghanistan's future. Please join us for the launch of the WORDE report, "Afghanistan 2014 and Beyond: The Role of Civil Society in Peacebuilding and Countering Violent Extremism." Hosted by Dr. Robert D. Lamb of CSIS, the panel features the report's authors, as well as special guest, General John R. Allen (U.S. Margine Corps, Ret.), who recently served as the Commander of the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) and U.S. Forces, Afghanistan (USFOR-A) to share his perspectives on engaging Afghan civil society following the 2014 troop withdrawal.
These things just keep on going, and going and going. Over 50 years old and we can still use it. It's a 1000hp diesel electric switcher and this is the view inside the cab. Lots of control pedestals with levers of brass and iron.
Interestingly, this locomotive seldom has its human operator in the cab -- it's radio controlled and it's one I was helping to get running after it developed radio issues.

Chairman Ruth Goldway of the US Postal Regulatory Commission and Patricia Francis, Executive Director of ITC, delivered remarks and shared their own experiences using support networks to create change. Special Representative for Global Intergovernmental Affairs, Reta Jo Lewis, moderated an hour of lively discussion among participants and the speakers.
