I already made a level crossing some time ago, but I was totally unhappy with it.
This model is heavily inspired by wes_turngrate's level crossing which can be seen here: www.flickr.com/photos/141280199@N02/26121601435/
I took the freedom to also steal his telegraph pole :P
I might build this sometime...

Atlantis is the mythical city that was submerged. (Taken west of Durant, Oklahoma America, at a branch of Lake Texoma.)
This bald eagle is about midway through a 100-yard, low level attack flight to snatch a prairie dog. There were closer PDs, but by flying low and going a bit further, the surprise element of the attack is maximized. At 80-yards away from me and three to ten-feet above the ground, it's a difficult shot. Next time I'll reduce the responsiveness of my autofocus to increase the odds of the focus staying on the bird, rather than grabbing onto something on the ground, or the ground itself.

I love what the city has done with the High Level lighting, i hope they continue on to the other bridges with this idea. This shot combines the High Level with a cityscape view including the Leg in the backround.

もしある日、君が僕のことを覚えていなくて、そして僕も君のことを覚えていない、それでも、時間はきっと僕たちの代わりにそれを覚えていてくれる。如果有那么一天,你不再记得,我也不再记得,时光一定会代替我们记得。
An assortment of levels for various uses... Shot taken for a Flickr theme-based group, September 2019.
Composite shot made up of 36 focus-stacked exposures, using the built-in function on the Nikon Z7. Stack processed with Helicon Focus. Micro-Nikkor 105mm ƒ/2.8 macro lens on FTZ adapter.
All of the valley floor beyond the sign is below sea level due to the slow separation of two tectonic plates over millions of years. Death Valley is not only the lowest place in the western hemisphere, it is also the hottest place on Earth with summer daytime temperatures often topping 120 degrees with nighttime temperatures not falling below 100 degrees. A few months ago this whole area was carpeted with wildflowers. During the last ice age it was an enormous lake.
Later this day while travelling to an abandoned mining camp I got two flat tires at the same time on a particularly rocky stretch of road in middle of nowhere where it was 102 degrees with no shade.
To the right, more Death Valley photos from last week's trip >>

I didn't really intend to take this photo! I was setting the focus for the impending train, but wasn't concentrating. Hence, I didn't get all of the barrier in, and there is some vignetting from the lens hood, top left. Nonetheless, I quite like the shot, with a bit of remedial cropping. I also like the subtle illumination of the overhead wires.
Union Level, an abandoned town in Mecklenburg County, Virginia, has had its ups and downs. It began as a commercial district and post office in the 1830s, when a stage coach line came to town. A railroad depot was established in the early 1900s, and the town experienced a boom with more than 20 businesses by the 1920s. But when the Depression hit in the 1930s, many of them began to close. Railroad travel started its decline after World War II, and by the mid-1980s, trains had stopped running through the area. The depot and the post office were closed. Nearby South Hill, closer to the interstate highway, took the rest of the businesses away, and Union Level became a ghost town. It is still a residential area though. There are about 180 people living in this peaceful, rural town, according to the most recent census data.
