Photographed from the ex Cambrian Railways Oswestry to Ellesmere high-level line which passed over the former GW line west of the high-level station sees 82E Bristol Barrow Road allocated "Modified Hall" Class 4-6-0 No 7924 'Thornycroft Hall' running at speed through Whittington Low Level with a Coton Hill to Saltney Junction fitted freight on July 10th 1965. Its was pretty much all downhill from Rednal in the east but once trains passed through the level crossing seen here situated between the signal box and the station building beyond it, engines travelling west to Gobowen generally opened up, climbing on a steady gradient to Derwen bridge about half a mile before Gobowen. The little stone structure seen on the right was the former crossing keepers cottage built by the London & North Western Railway
Apocastle, level 1 - the apocalypse.
50x50 diorama. Heavy one.
More pictures on Brickshelf.
This build took me over two months to make, even though 90% was made in one week (more precisely four days) of intense building, so I would say that the building time in hours should be up to 72 hours, including Hydra prototype and the car.
This diorama inclueds lighting feautires and mechanic features combined, although I wish I could have done better - with more lights and movement. I guess next time.

When you put one-month videos of the Sun from periods about 2.5 years apart, the increase in solar activity is remarkable. We took video from October, 2010 and set it next to video from May, 2013 in the 171 Angstrom wavelength of extreme ultraviolet light. The number and intensity of active regions, seen as brighter areas and numerous loops above them, increased dramatically as the Sun is approaching its maximum level of activity which is expected to occur either late 2013 or early 2014.
Operating the Iberia IB3166 from Madrid to London Heathrow on 2nd April 2023. Arriving on runway 09L late afternoon. Not perfect as the sun has gone off the nose, but it might have been one of my last chances to photograph one of these. They seem to be in the process of being painted into mainline Iberia colours.

Lynton is a small town on the Exmoor coast in Devon, England standing on top of the cliffs above the picturesque harbour village of Lynmouth, to which it is connected by the Lynton and Lynmouth Cliff Railway. Lynton was once the terminus for the narrow-gauge Lynton & Barnstaple Railway, which served both towns.
The two communities are governed at local level by Lynton and Lynmouth Town Council.
In Lynton is the Parish Church of St Mary, which stands overlooking the sea, surrounded by shops and hotels. The tower is mainly 13th century but the church itself has been enlarged and altered — most notably in 1741, when the nave was rebuilt, and later in Victorian times.
Many of the town's buildings were constructed in the latter part of the 19th century and the early 20th century. The town hall was given to the town by Sir George Newnes, Bart., a major benefactor of the town; it was opened on 15 August 1900. He also gave the town the Congregational church on Lee Road.
The BMW 507 is one of the most beautiful and coveted BMW models.
The car is rare, a mere 252 built - increasing its desirability today, but the cause of financial losses during its 1956 - 1959 production run, that brought BMW to the brink of bankruptcy.
The plan was sound - build a 2-door roadster using the mechanicals of a standard BMW 503 saloon. Export the model to the US (and follow the success of the similar Mercedes-Benz 300 SL), reap the rewards, and capitalise on the goodwill, to build a market State-side.
Unfortunately, the projected price increased significantly during development, causing the US price to rise to a level which constrained sales. Originally, BMW planned to sell 5,000 units per year. The timing was partly to blame - US makers were in a phase of significant power increases, with the fitment of ever larger V8 engines. The 507 had a V8, but only a mere 3.2 litres and 150 bhp. The Mercedes had arrived to the market a couple of years earlier, an was much more powerful in the (later) 300 SL Roadster model.
The losses were so significant that BMW was brought to the brink of bankruptcy, and would take a decade to recover from.
Today, the 507 is highly regarded for its stylistic beauty - the styling was reworked in 1999 for the BMW Z8 luxury sports roadster model, again, a model focused on the US market, were, again the price limited sales.
Well I must say I was shocked at the scale of the flooding in the Somerset Levels after a trip up there last week. I have nothing but sympathy for everyone effected by the floods there and everywhere else in the UK for that matter - awful.

The Mark 1 Golf was introduced in 1974 as a front wheel drive hatchback and as a replacement for the original Volkswagen Beetle, designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro of Ital Design with a rather sharp angular look.
In 1975 a sports-oriented variant of the Volkswagen Golf, called the Golf GTI was introduced in March of that year at the Frankfurt Motor Show as a hot version powered by a 1781cc four-cylinder engine fed by a Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection, which helped it develop a respectable 110 PS aided by a kerbweight of just 810kg.
The Cabriolet version followed in 1980 It had a reinforced body, transverse roll bar, and a high level of trim, and kept the pre-1980 style of rear lamp clusters. The Mk1 Cabriolet is of unibody construction built entirely at the factory of Karmann, from stamping to final assembly; Volkswagen supplied the engine, suspension, interior, etc. for Karmann to install. The vinyl or cloth tops were heavily insulated and manually - or beginning in 1991, electrically - operated, with a heated glass rear window.
Prior to the 1984 model year the highest standard specification Cabriolet was the GLI, which was essentially a GTI in all but name. It was only in late 1983 with the introduction of the 1984 model that an officially badged GTI version of the cabriolet finally became available.
The Mark 1 Golf was replaced by a Mark II model in 1983, but the Cabriolet version produced by Kharmann continued with the Mark I shell until 1993
This model is a limited production Rivage model of which only 470 RHD examples were supplied to the UK. The Golf GTi Rivage was a run-out model of the Mark 1 GTi Convertible, and were only available inmetalic Inca Blue or in a Metalic Green, and finished with heated Recaro cloth seats, Le Castellet forged alloy wheels, powered mohair hood and a five-speed gearbox.
