Andy Haman, a Iowa City High, and U of Iowa Grad and 2007 Champion of NPC National Bodybuilding and current IFBB Professional Bodybuilder, shared his story with students and encouraged everyone to live a healthy lifestyle.
A Health & Fitness Expo was held at East High on April 13th and Lincoln High on April 12th. Students assembled in the gymnasium to learn about how to maintain a healthy lifestyle by staying active and eating healthy foods.
Obesity in the US has become a national Security issue. This problem is putting a strain on healthcare costs and making it more difficult for people to qualify to serve in our armed forces.
Approximately 300K adult deaths in the U.S. each year are attributable to unhealthy dietary habits, or physical inactivity. Nearly two-thirds of U.S. adults are overweight orobese.
18.1% of adolescents aged 12-19 are obese.

They made the rounds, personally thanking everyone they could track down on the floor, for their participation in initiatives like eat brighter!
