Michele Marie Bachmann the 54 year old US Congress Representative supporter of the Tea Party movement and founder of the House Tea Party Caucus has criticized First lady Michelle Obama for encouraging the creation of a "nanny state" during debates relating to breast-feeding following an announcement by the Internal Revenue Service that the purchase of breast-feeding equipment would be considered a medical expense and would qualify for reimbursement under federal tax law. Bachmann a well known and frequent critic of the Obama administration's policies, attempted to link the decision with what she refers to as the "hard left" agenda. On the first anniversary of the “Let's Move" campaign to fight childhood obesity, the first lady said, "Breast-feeding. Kids who are breast-fed longer have a lower tendency to be obese."
