These beautiful birds are Major Mitchell Cockatoos - a native Australian parrot.
They have exquisite head crests - a magnificent pink and red colour.
Unfortunately, these birds are in an aviary with very annoying thick cage wire - and where the birds were in the cage made it impossible for me to get focus and depth of field right to eliminate the cage from these pictures. Mores the pity!
It was delightful to watch these birds.
I include them as I think the joy and love they share overcomes the technical deficiency of the pictures.

A Leopard 2A6M Main Battle Tank from The Lord Strathcona’s Horse (Royal Canadians) and part of the 1st Battalion, The Royal Canadian Regiment Battle Group, provides over-watch as soldiers from Charles Company conduct an impromptu shura with local villagers during recent operations in the volatile Panjwa’i and Zhari Districts of Kandahar Province. The sheer size and firepower of the Leopard 2A6M Main Battle Tank makes it a formidable force and a huge deterrent to enemy insurgents allowing for such meetings to take place.
In close cooperation with Afghan National Security Forces, 1st Battalion, The Royal Canadian Regiment Battle Group provides security by conducting counter-insurgency operations throughout Panjwa’i District located south-west of Kandahar City. The Battle Group conducts partnered operations with the 2nd Kandak of the 1st Brigade, 205 Corps of the Afghan National Army, Afghan National Police and the Panjwa’i District Governor in order to advance governance, reconstruction and security in the area.
Operation ATHENA is Canada’s participation in the International Security Assistance Forces in Afghanistan. Focused on Kandahar Province in southern Afghanistan since the fall of 2005, Op ATHENA has one over-arching objective: to leave Afghanistan to Afghans, in a country that is better governed, more peaceful and more secure.

Un char de combat principal Leopard 2A6M du Lord Strathcona’s Horse (Royal Canadians) et qui fait partie du groupement tactique du 1er Bataillon, The Royal Canadian Regiment, assure la surveillance alors que des membres de la Compagnie Charles tiennent une choura à l’improviste avec des villageois pendant des opérations récentes dans les districts instables de Panjwayi et de Zhari, dans la province de Kandahar. La taille imposante et la puissance de feu du char de combat principal Leopard 2A6M le rendent un outil impressionnant et un moyen de dissuasion important contre les insurgés.
En étroite collaboration avec les Forces de sécurité nationale afghanes, le groupement tactique du 1er Bataillon, The Royal Canadian Regiment, assure la sécurité en menant des opérations de contre-insurrection un peu partout dans le district de Panjwayi, au sud-ouest de la ville de Kandahar. Le groupement tactique mène des opérations en partenariat avec le 2e Kandak de la 1re Brigade, le 205e Corps de l’Armée nationale afghane, la Police nationale afghane et le gouverneur du district de Panjwayi afin d’améliorer la gouvernance, la reconstruction et la sécurité dans le secteur.
L’opération Athena constitue la participation du Canada à la Force internationale d’assistance à la sécurité (FIAS) en Afghanistan. Concentrée dans la province de Kandahar, dans le sud de l’Afghanistan, depuis l’automne 2005, l’opération Athena poursuit un objectif essentiel : laisser l’Afghanistan aux Afghans et en faire un pays mieux gouverné, plus paisible et plus sûr.

Ta frio, mas nao posso negar que ta lindo !!! Assim esta o fundo do meu quintal. E eu e o Brady, sempre q tenho um tempinho (coisa q tem sido dificil ultimanente rs*), tamo la fora fora brincando rs*. Hoje tem sol e la vem mais neve...mas nesse momento ja estou rumo `a uma Montanha que tem aqui perto de casa. Infelizmente nao to indo esquiar(ou levar tombo, pois e isso q faco rs*), to indo trabalhar numa competicao de snowboard. Xo correr, pois o dever nao me chama...ME GRIIITAAA !!! E la vou eu !!!
