This is a detailed shot of the (I think piezo electric) element that fires off small sparks to the nearby gas burner to set it off. I used a long exposure during which I let the white starter element fire (hence the very small beam of light) and then opened the gas tap. Now I am ready to cook us dinner.

well lets not dance on this geothermal spot here in Iceland ,cause its a dangerous spot to be at ,with earthquakes and boiling mud and steaming hot water ,dancing is not something you are thinking about :)

Our love for seafood and the fishing industry is destroying the eco web. Yet another example of Human impact on the environment.
This is a Eurasian griffon vulture (Gyps fulvus) at a falconry which is located in a natural reserve area. Unlike the falcons or eagles, the vultures always seem to react to the presence of visitors in front of their enclosure. Sometimes you even have the impression that they would like to communicate.
I had to take the capture through the fence again and unfortunately the bird was sitting in a rather dark corner of the aviary. The quality of the capture in the comments is slightly better than of the top shot but I still like the first capture better because of the direct eye contact.
