"Okay, you stay over in the brown grass and I'll stand here in the snow..."
On an decommissioned army depot near us, there's a herd of white white-tailed deer (Odocoileus virginianus). They're not albino, but rather an uncommon mutation that makes them white. The county wants to develop the land, but a group of local citizens (Seneca White Deer, Inc.) has started a campaign to save the deer and turn the area into a conservation park. There are also some normal colored deer, and you can see one of each in this photo.
The Depot is closed to the public, but it's not unusual to see the white deer through the chain-link fence. We pulled over and shot a few photos through the fence Saturday on our way to a party in Trumansburg.

I always think to myself, I need to take more pictures than I think I need, because more often than not, this happens to my stitches. I guess it's Ahern getting the last laugh, since I was trying to spite him by taking the same exact picture, in the same exact style.
taken with Nikon 500mm reflex. 70 photos of a field, clocking in at 90Megapixels. I may go back and redo it tomorrow..... SO FRUSTRATING!!!

if the beetroots aren't big by september, leaving them in a few more months probably won't help (this is 2!)
the first session I have done with my little Grace since she 'accidently" chopped off her hair..yes..you heard right! lol She got a round brush tangled in the side and her independant 6 yr old problem solving was to simply "cut it out" and no one would be the wiser! eek! soooo....pixie cut it was..there were tears..mostly mine, but we both have learned a very valuable lesson...to look beyond the outside and to the inside, she is beautiful no matter what...and meanwhile..it grows...
Student:
I am focusing on the breath but I don't feel very successful.
Teacher:
We will meet in the shade of a Central Park elm. This will be asitting meditation. The open skies of Sheep Meadow will be our churchand the fresh cut lawn our pew. We will extend our legs and we willtouch our toes. Our awareness will be focused on the breath. Can ourfingers feel the soft skin of our feet? If yes, we are beautiful. Ifno, we are beautiful. We are not focused on the result. We simply embrace our effort and return to the breath on a blue sky Sunday in the park.

I keep changing my kit a bit so this is a drawing I did in August of the kit plus recent additions plus a Pentel Brush pen that I haven't used yet (as you can see). Yes I am a kit junky.
Dear JV,
Sincere is the lesson that’s taken to heart.
Hear the old men when they tell you “don’t wait”.
The work done from now until then is key.
The success of your season, defining your legacy.
Today is your best opportunity to start.
Don’t let time go by, tomorrow’s too late.
When last in your pads, you are covered in sweat.
Lesson learned and passed on, not an ounce of regret.
With all sincerity,
The Graduating Seniors
My wife and I recently enrolled our kids in swimming lessons at the Bayside Swimming Club. The instructors there were fantastic and did excellent work with both kids. My daughter is especially confident in her swimming abilities now and my son, who was indifferent toward the idea of taking swimming lessons, now wants to go back for more.
Credit to my wife for this shot.
