Made about 1,000 swirled lentils between December 2009 and May 2010 ... gave away about 700 of them at festivals this year. I love chocolate, cocoa, cappucino colors.
Op 25 januari, de verjaardag van Micha gaan we met Ana en Padraig (spreek uit Poddrik) eten bij Lentil as anything. Midden in Melbourne staat een heel groot uit klooster. Het klooster en de tuinen zijn omgebouwd tot een vegetarische en organisch restaurant, waar mensen zelf heerlijk eten kunnen pakken van een buffet (buiten/binnen) . Het wordt gerund door vrijwilligers die in de samenleving moeilijk meekomen en het eten is gratis. Je mag betalen wat je kunt missen. Ook als je niks kan missen ben je daar welkom. En dat is ook precies de mix van mensen. Maaike en Micha betalen veel te veel, maar zijn er trots op met hun dollars dit fantastische initiatief te kunnen steunen.
Lemony Couscous Lentil Salad has bell pepper, red onion, fresh thyme, and tossed with tangy lemon dressing. It goes splendidly with ham.

Lentil Curry
2 c red lentils, rinsed well
onion, diced
1 TBL vegetable oil
2 TBL curry paste
1 TBL curry powder
1 tsp ground turmeric
1 tsp ground cumin
1 tsp chili powder
1 tsp white sugar
1 tsp minced garlic
1 tsp ginger root, minced
6-14 oz tomato puree
Cover the lentils in water in a pot and boil.
In a large skillet or saucepan, caramelize the onions in oil.
While the onions are cooking, combine the curry paste, curry powder, turmeric, cumin, chili powder, salt, sugar, garlic, and ginger in a mixing bowl. Mix well.
When the onions are cooked, add the curry mixture to the onions and cook over a high heat stirring constantly for 1 to 2 minutes.
Stir in the tomato puree and reduce heat, allow the curry base to simmer until the lentils are ready.
When the lentils are tender drain them briefly if still very watery.
Mix the curry base into the lentils and serve immediately.
Lentils cooked with carrot, onion, garlic, bay leaf; mixed with fresh whole wheat bread crumbs, egg, cumin seeds, and chili flakes. Topped with sharp cheddar and mayo/tomato/chipolte sauce
