Day 9 (25.05.2009)
Leh, Jammu & Kashmir, India
A busy place in Leh. This is the most crowded place in the entire of LADAKH. You might only see a handful of people here in the market mostly locals and other Tibetan. This place has a lot of different handicrafts an local items on sale. Its a good place to visit in Leh as it will help you know their culture well.
Leh is the capital of the Leh District of Ladakh, India. The city lies on the true right bank of the Indus River in a narrow valley north of the river at an elevation of some 3,530 m (11,581 ft.).
I photographed these children riding a miniature train on day three of the 15-day 2007 Ladakh Festival at the Leh Polo Ground. The festival is held annually in Leh and nearby venues and includes polo games, archery competitions, music concerts, Cham Dances (Mask Dances), rock climbing, river rafting and camel safaris.
75 ft gilded gold statue of Maitreya Buddha at Likir Monastery, about 52km west of Leh on Srinigar to Leh highway.
It is picturesquely situated on a little hill in the valley near the Indus River. A very quite nice place..
Thanks for your visit, hope you enjoyed, kindly leave your comment that will be very rewarding
I was traveling to India. This was one of my dream trips to 19000 feet . It's Leh Ladakh in India.
This was captured at Leh, a majestic view of ancient Thikse Monastery. It was a warm day, we stopped for a picture break. I wanted to capture the view along with the Stumpa.

Images of Ladakh, India
Chokhang Vihar is the central place to pray for the Buddhist followers in the Leh city. The new Gompa is a piece of Buddhist art with modern architecture. The Vihar hosts different functions and celebrations on special occasions.
The city of Leh as viewed from the Shanti Stupa. A clearly defined color layers would immediately draw one's attention. The valley is green enough among the arid mountains. As you start looking up the green made way for dark gray mountains with white snow covered top under a deep blue sky where white puffy clouds are hovering around!
The town is still dominated by the now ruined Leh Palace, former mansion of the royal family of Ladakh, built in the same style and about the same time as the Potala Palace. Leh is at an altitude of 3524 metres (11,562 ft), and connects via National Highway 1D to Srinagar in the southwest and to Manali in the south via Leh-Manali Highway
