The centre piece of Melbourne Central shopping mall in the centre of Melbourne city. The building you see is the old "Leadpipe and shot factory". Lead shot used to be formed by dropping small amounts of hot lead from a great height into a pool of water. The drop of lead would form a perfect ball on the way down and then cool in the water below.
I believe this shopping centre was actually built around the original factory (but dont quote me).
The white lead oxide rocks are very heavy when you pick them up. A lick of paint and a service and the old girl will be rattlin' away again.
I started with a title of "Lead Ore Shaker" - but Alan is right - "Vibrator" is a much more promising bait - I wonder shy? Oh - and as Tim suggests - best large, on black
Lead has been worked in the Ashover area of Derbyshire since Roman times, so it's not surprising that there is a lead font in the church. It's one of the few Norman lead fonts in England and dates from c1150. It has 20 figures mounted in pairs around the bowl. During the Civil War it was buried for safety and restored to its present position after the Restoration in the 1660s.
London Marathon 25 April 2010. The first three women come into view at Temple Pier, about one and a half miles from the finish.
As of April 22, 2010 any home built prior to 1978 has to be checked for lead by a licensed renovator. It federal by the EPA so anyone doing work has to be certified. The fine start at $32,500 for not complying. So handymen, contractors, homeowners, and anyone who works on 1 and 2 family dwellings.... get your certification

The first written record of lead mining at Minera dates back to 1296, when Edward I of England hired miners from the site to work in his new mines in Devon. Not all of them vacated the area, however, as mining went on until the Black Death in 1349, when it ended.
In 1527, two men bought the rights to mine on the site, but deeper workings were unworkable due to the presence of underground rivers, and the inability to prevent flooding. The inability to pay for steam engines to pump out water closed the mines again until 1845, when John Taylor & Sons, mining agents from Flintshire, formed the Minera Mining Company. They were able to build a stationary steam engine on site, and also blast caves from down in the valley into the mines, for extra drainage. The steam engine was a Cornish engine (i.e. a Beam engine), typical for stationary engines at the time.
John Taylor & Sons had used a £30,000 investment at the time, yet the profits for 1864 alone were £60,000 (equivalent to over £4 Million in 2008. By 1900, the price of lead and zinc had fallen dramatically, while the price of coal used for the steam engine rose. The stationary steam engine stopped work in 1909. The owners sold off the mines and all assets by 1914.
Transport
For transport, the Mines had their own railway branch line, which connected with the end of the Wrexham and Minera Branch at Minera Limeworks. The mines also had their own steam locomotive, a Manning Wardle 0-6-0ST (Works No. 21) Henrietta.[2] The lead ore would be taken to Wrexham for transport nationally, and Coal brought back. The line was dismantled when the mines closed, as the line was privately owned, however were rebuilt to serve nearby clay pits. Plans to build a tourist narrow gauge railway on the line were made in the 1990s, but have not progressed.
Restoration
The workings and local area underwent massive restoration and regeneration funded by Wrexham County Borough Council and the Welsh Development Agency beginning in 1988 to make sure the lead, Zinc and lime spoil tips didn't contaminate local water supplies, the Engine house was rebuilt and fitted with replica machinery, as the original steam engine was removed in 1914. A visitor Centre was opened for public use, and the engine house is part of a tour. It is a site of tourism for Wrexham County Borough Council.
In 2004, the site was attacked by vandals, but this was repaired by the council in 2005.
Gorgeous in Elise's polka dot chiffon dress. I am absolutely in love with this outfit - it is marvelous.
Eden here reminds me a lot of Emily Van Kamp from Revenge.
Remnants of cottages, that surrounded the streams around this valley, just before the dam was built. Back then there was no supply of water, only directly from these streams so the closer the better. Until the dam flooded mos out of existence and a new culture was found!.

An ornamental grotesque, rather than a true gargoyle (where the throat acts as a drainpipe, hence the name 'gargouille', derived from the French word for 'throat').
One of a pair of lead figures on the late gothic chapel at the north east corner of Aachen Cathedral, added as part of the postwar restoration.
The back panel of my old Hiwatt Lead 100R amplifier. Not a "good" Hiwatt. This is one of the Fane/Turntone PCB models made between 1986 and 1989. I used it as a bass amp for biamping. The Rhythm channel I'd set clean. Then I could kick in the Lead channel to add some grit to the high end with a little volume boost when I wanted. I really liked the control layout and the way the controls worked. The construction was shoddy, but I never had any problems with mine.
A placebo is a sham medical intervention intended to lead the recipient to believe that the intervention may improve his/her condition. In one common placebo treatment, a patient is given an inert "sugar pill" and told that the pill may improve his/her condition. The fact that the pill is inert is withheld from the patient. The intervention may cause the patient to believe that the treatment will change his/her condition; this belief sometimes causes the patient's condition to change, a phenomenon known as the placebo effect.
