I took this on the day after Christmas...all the snow made me think of this beautiful Christmas song.
"In the bleak midwinter, frosty wind made moan,
Earth stood hard as iron, water like a stone;
Snow had fallen, snow on snow, snow on snow,
In the bleak midwinter, long ago."
...
"What can I give Him, poor as I am?
If I were a shepherd, I would bring a lamb;
If I were a Wise Man, I would do my part;
Yet what I can I give Him: give my heart."
— "In the Bleak Midwinter" by Christina Rossetti

San Diego California LDS Temple
La Jolla, San Diego, CA
11-05-20
I've wanted to take some close up photos of this Temple for a long time. I finally got the chance of Thursday 11-05.20.
From Wikipedia:
The San Diego California Temple is the 47th constructed and 45th operating temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Located near the La Jolla community of San Diego, it was built with two main spires, but unique to this temple are four smaller spires at the base of each main spire. The East spire is topped with the familiar Angel Moroni statue which adorns most LDS temples.
The San Diego Temple was announced on April 7, 1984, and dedicated on April 25, 1993 by Gordon B. Hinckley. The temple was built on a 7.2-acre (2.9 ha) plot, has 4 ordinance rooms and 8 sealing rooms, and has a total floor area of 72,000 square feet.

The temple is awe-inspiring in its design and beauty - but a deeper purpose is what happens inside. Just thinking about the ordinances performed inside while I was photographing outside, is also awe-inspiring to me. It was quite busy on this weekday evening. The Oquirrh Mountain Utah LDS Temple.

"Our Savior's love shines like the sun with perfect light,
As from above it breaks thru clouds of strife.
Lighting our way, it leads us back into his sight,
Where we may stay to share eternal life."

Somebody posted a view of this building on one of my Facebook groups, and I looked back to my November 2020 folder from deep in the pandemic when I last toured the grounds of the San Diego LDS Temple taking photos. I'd walked all around the building, which is one of the most striking and beautiful modern churches I've ever photographed. (built 1993)
The view with which everyone is familiar shows both spires, but here is a view of the entrance at the east spire, which I call the "spaceship view". I took photos at all conceivable angles and only posted two photos back in November 2020 after I took them.

Another view of the temple, showing the enormity of the structure. Visitors are not allowed in the temple itself.
One of the things I'm grateful for is snow! We have been hurting for moisture in Eastern Idaho but recently received a nice dump! This is a view (which I often photograph) of the frozen Snake River as it flows through Idaho Falls. The LDS Temple is the building in the distance.

The Logan LDS Temple stands above the snow covered trees of Temple Hill, backed by the sunlit Wellsville Mountains in Cache Valley, Utah. Thinking of the strength, courage, and resolve of the pioneers who built this structure I realize it is time for me to set some New Year resolutions!

LDS Temple on Temple Square in Salt Lake City, Utah. This is an HDR Vertorama constructed from 3 5xp hdr sets using a Tilt/Shift lens and combining the images in PS CS3 with "photomerge." It's conference weekend so I had to get up early to get this shot without the crowds!

From the dedicatory prayer of the first temple in this dispensation (D&C 109:22-23): "And we ask thee, Holy Father, that thy servants may go forth from this house armed with thy power, and that thy name may be upon them, and thy glory be round about them, and thine angels have charge over them; And from this place they may bear exceedingly great and glorious tidings, in truth, unto the ends of the earth..." The Renovation appears to be about complete. The grass and landscaping is greening up nicely. This is from the east side of the temple.
