I messed up the LCD on a beloved piece of electronics. Everything is fine except for the LCD. Anyone has a clue if the LCD only can be replaced? If so, what is this called, and is it easy to get one? The back of the screen says "00-0280". Any hints greatly appreciated!

The LCD backlight is LED based and uses two white LEDs in series so it requires at least 6.6v to light up. As there is no such voltage on board the prox I ended up opening the LCD and rewiring the LEDs in parallel so they now get power from the 3.3V supply

As i have been mailed to ask how i did this i am editing to expand on it.
Photoelasticity is the technical term for it.
I made a full screen white picture and put it on my LCD monitor then used a Polarised filter to make the screen go black, Held up piece of plastic bag in front of the screen and snapped away for polarised light tricks. Increased the saturation a little to make the colours pop and there you have it.
