I don't usually post photos on weekends but I was lucky enough to see one of two sold out shows at Cabaret Metro in Chicago last night of LCD Soundsystem and it was fantastic. I wasn't shooting and am unfortunately not shooting Lolla this year (they are one of the headliners) but I have many shots of them from Pitchfork, earlier Metro shows, and even Lollapolooza years past so that is some consolation. I love looking at Nancy Whang's pure joy emanating from her face and boy did I ever have fun dancing last night!

This is the last photo I'll post of LCD Soundsystem. I prefer to take photos of Nancy Whang over James Murphy but I do love his tattoo and I loved how the other night at the sold out Metro show he kept talking about how much he loved Derrick Carter (playing underneath him at the club Smartbar below).
My favorite memory of James Murphy is when LCD Soundsystem played Lollapalooza in 2007. They were on right before Daft Punk so hearing James Murphy sing "Daft Punk is playing at my house, my house!" was really hilarious and made my first experiences shooting Lolla that much better!

A LCD Matrix shot with an Iphone 4 and a 15x Zoom Lens. The darker part on the left are cause by the image that was shown on my camera lcd panel, whit was the panel i photographed with my iphone. I took the iphone because it worked best with the Lens i used to shot this, my camera wasn't able to focus with the lens but the iphone was.

So, it's been a bit of traumatic time of late for me on the photographic front. A couple of weeks ago I was in British Columbia but exactly one week before I left I was down on the beach at home photographing a heavy sea when I was taken out by a wave. As a result of that one of my two K30's was destroyed, along with my Sigma 10-20mm and Sigma 17-50mm lenses. I loved my K30 and the Sigma 10-20 is what I shoot 90% of my shots with, so all in all it was a bit heart breaking. My second K30 also got a bit wet but survived.
So at v short notice I had to suddenly replace a body and I went for what I thought was the natural replacement the K-S2, which didn't turn out to be the natural replacement I thought it would be. (More on that below)
Anyway, the new K-S2 arrived along with a new Sigma 10-20mm and off I went on holiday.
Now I don't take a lot of photographs with my cell phone but it is useful to have to photograph all sorts of daily things, like where you've parked your car etc. So it was further disappointment when on the second day of my holiday the lens shattered on the phone for no obvious reason.
To cheer myself up I thought I'd go out and take a city skyline shot over Vancouver, only to discover that the head on my Manfrotto BeFree Travel Tripod had broken... (although it was still partially useable)... Anyway trying to put all of this aside I set up for some long exposures over the city skyline. I took out my long exposure cable release and went to plug it in to my new K-S2... nope that's not the socket... not that one either.. and not that one... where the heck is the cable release socket... don't tell me! So to my horror I discovered that this camera doesn't have a cable release socket.... and a significant amount of my photography involves long exposure work... I never even knew cameras came without what I would class as this vital piece of functionality. I've certainly never had a Pentax camera that didn't have this.
It has to be said that by now I was a bit down and a bit irate about all of this. The next morning I got up put my gear in the car, took out my remaining K30 to check the settings were ready to go for the start of the day and I dropped the camera and broke the LCD screen..... aargh!!
I had to pull out the big guns for this one. This is one of the smallest springtails at 0.2-0.3mm and very difficult to spot with the naked eye. Fortunately it was against a contrasting background and I could just make out the tiniest speck moving about. My magnifying loupe revealed the body shape and I recognised it as one of the Neelidae.
Mounting up my MP-E and 1.4X Teleconverter didn't get me as close as I would like, so on went three tubes to give an additional 72mm of extension. Finding the subject again was easier than expected (it seemed to be at home on a single small piece of bark), but lighting was a challenge. My LCD struggled with the low light (I didn't have a focusing light) and became very choppy. Still, I managed to get a few in focus, but I'd like to get closer. I think more extension tubes are needed :)
It's a species I've shot earlier this year when I went Springtail hunting with andybadger near Wetherby, but I was pleased to find this individual in my back garden.

The second photo in the series of LCD hands, people stuck on their phones, no matter where and no matter when.
I hope humanity will find a way out of this disease.
Hybrid printing system:
A digital negative image appeared on a Duobond 6 inch 2k monochrome LCD (no backlight itself, originally used for a 3D printer), herein called "virtual negative", was successfully formed on cyanotype (or Van Dyke) photographic paper using an analog photographic enlarger (light source: 395 nm UV SMD). This virtual negative method differs in this respect from previous digital negatives on OHP film (contact printing) and analog negatives as attempted by group: www.flickr.com/groups/cyanotype_wenlarger/).
Image signal is output to the LCD via HDMI from a mini-PC (OS: Windows 10) with a built-in graphics board capable of up to 4K video output.

So I noticed that people nowadays tend to walk in the street gazing at their phones! Its not only dangerous but it takes away the enjoyment of the walk which is kind of evident on her face!
I mean we gaze in our phones 24/7, while eating, sitting, working and now even walking in the street!
Man i think the next step in our evolution is that hands will evolve into a touch screen and the way the world is shaping, natural selection will favour these LCD hands

The plane was delivered on 31 October 2014.
Some of my friends asked me about NEX accessories. I think this one is one of the most useful in bright sunlight. It is huge, but very light (and cheap) and has a magnifier lens that allows a perfect focusing.
In sunlight the problem is not only the visibility of LCD, but also the sun in the eyes. This stuff solves this problem.
