Submitted materials, spread layout design for a new magazine on contemporary Hungarian fashion/beauty/photography.

This was the first round with 7 participants. I tried to define the feel and basic visual.

HO Scale Layout coming soon. This is a double track 4x8 with a small yard and Western High Desert style scenery. Powered double crossover. Comes in either DC or DCC controls included.

I decided to create a new layout for myself. Sadly, I don't have Illustrator so I used Photoshop, which is why it's slightly pixelated.

It will take me a while to adapt... Still unfinished. I am planning to get more baseplates of sorts. Features 'public display track' for one classic locomotive to be...

Update as of Aug. 31, 2008: Hopefully this is the last time I have to set up a layout on two different-level tables. I am looking to a new multiple 60" x 30" table standard. Thus, baseplates would be equally aligned and I can have a 2-baseplate block sandwiched by a road and 2 tracks on each side. I literally almost destroyed the layout when I nearly tripped due to holding on to the extension too much. Plus, the extended section looks like it's going to tip over! I should not let that happen. The only good thing about the new section was the smooth transition of the track from ballast to plain table due to not having enough ballast sections. But I am getting to a point that I will need that space for ballast and that the extension would not be able to support the edge of the layout.

The difference can be seen in another shot.

Update July 21, 2009: The layout has been cleared completely, to make way for a temporary setup of a Hollywood, FL diorama. It's been hard leaving the modular block, but at least until Christmas, I can guarantee the two corner structures, the Cafe Corner and the Deluxe Cafe Corner will remain absolutely, by no doubt, intact. In Nov 08 the Market Street has been demolished and in July 2009, the two central 16x16 footprint buildings have been downgraded to which several dk blue parts were taken out for an 8wide project. More likely I will restore the one with the white/green striped awning, but also likely the one with the black sloped roof which makes a checker with the LDD creation will be torn down. Pound Park may see the chopping block too, but at least remain intact until Halloween.

TERMINAL STREET YARD

My home layout is called Terminal Street Yard. It is HO scale and DC operated. The layout is a basic oval roughly 31”X48” with a run around track and three sidings to switch, one facing and two trailing. The layout was designed to have continuous running and switching possibilities in a small space while providing a setting to build and display structures scenery and vehicles. Given the size of the layout the curves will only handle 4 axle switchers and 40’ cars.

Layout at a glance.

The front section houses Smileys Oil Depot, 7 1/2” turntable, Engine house and storage track with overhead crane, crew shack, handcar shed and Alick’s Landscaping.

The middle section houses Midnight Transfer and Trucking complex, travelling crane and a Switch Tower.

The back section (an extension to the original layout) is 6 1/2” X 48” with a 6 ½” X 31” cassette on one end to provide additional switching and yard activities. The back section houses Catherine’s car repair shop, Marc’s manufacturing and Eric’s machine shop.

Lots of work still needs to be done such as modify the track in the yard, convert the layout to dcc, complete scenery, add lighting, add backdrops complete structures Da Da Da!

Na realidade o Layout não foi recusado, já que foi feito completamente pela supervisão do cliente, mas como já esta pronto há um mês e a pessoa não dá nenhum sinal de vida, terei que colocá-lo á venda.

Right, so I can opt in and out of this, I know some people can't so I thought I'd upload a picture for their viewing pleasure. This is the only thing that's changed for me when I opt in, I'm not used to all the black-ness but I have to admit it's actually a ton easier to use than the current system and works really smoothly, and that's coming from someone with a decade-old laptop with a slow internet connection. Two problems though: the comments are in reverse order, that is from newest to oldest (trifling problem, could get used to that) and the note function is entirely gone. That's pretty bad in my opinion, though flickr says they're working on the entire layout and are planning on adding more stuff to it. There's an "Opt-out & Feedback" button in the lower left, I encourage any fellow LEGO builders to which the note function is important to go to the feedback section and bitch about its absence.

Opinions?

This paper is from Stack 7 by DCWV, which was the second stack I ever bought. It has a copyright date of 2009. Also, the "congratualtions" is vellum from some package I don't even know where I got it from so I can guarantee that's old! :)

The funny part about this is that there are no graduation photos even though this is a graduation layout! I didn't really know the graduate but we had fun seeing all of the family.

The switching layout is now pretty much finished. All areas are polished off and it’s a blast to operate. I’ve been quite happy with all the subtle details I’ve been able to model with this layout. It’s very fun to operate and I think really compliments whatever is running at the time!

se vc nao quer das the veronicas mas gostou do layout comente ou me envie um flickr mail com as fotos que quer!

Day 1 of Your Story Matters. Today (even though I'm two days late) I feel productive. Over the last few weeks I've gotten a lot done toward starting my own online business. And today I got a lot done creatively. Feels good!

Layout I did for Bleuprint #26 at Bad Girl's Kits. Katie asked me to create a layout on my take of her sketch this week!

Final layout of the upgraded ZX Spectrum. Details of the construction follow in the photoset.

The layout, as can be seen, is still not finished but the most gruesome work is done, the metropolis. Now the industrial area has to be done and it'll be finished before the eve. One of these units will be taken to Tampa, the one with the best motor. They're doing a good job on my mini GFLUG style, dueling regulator layout thus far but already failed the proving ground in Plant City.

This is a quick Photoshop mockup of blog layout on a grid.

I made this when I was bored -- I was experimenting with the Inset text effect and somehow it turned into a grid-based layout mockup.

I'm obsessed with the Grid. It satisfies my need for organization, harmony, structure, simplicity, and balance. I think I'm one of the last remaining people in this world who still uses a ruler on a regular basis to create straight lines (or to use pen and paper on a regular basis, for that matter).

Someday I'll convert this into a free WordPress theme.

The layout's typography is supposed to be Grid-based (horizontal and vertical); I used the 12 column 960.gs template even though I'd probably write the CSS myself instead of using the framework's stylesheets. I'm not very happy with the color scheme and I can see some spots where it looks like there's poor background/foreground color contrast issues.

A product of boredom! :)
