Layer Road - The former home of Colchester United F.C. Home of the U's from 1937 until 2008.

The final game at Layer Road was against Stoke City on the 26th April 2008. The U's lost 1-0 but it was a fantastic day.

Incidently the last time Colchester United ever won at Layer Road was on Saturday 5th April against local rivals Ipswich Town. Scott Vernon gaining legendary status by netting both goals in a 2-0 win.

(p.s. for those who have never visited.. The old stadium is further along the road.)

Looking up the stairs in front of the Welsh Assembly building towards the Millennium Centre in Cardiff. The contrast of building materials was wonderful!

There was an opening in the ice. I like the different layers of the ice at the edge.

It is rare, these days, that I don't use textures on one of my images. I really enjoy the creativity and magic that can come with adding layer after layer of textures...especially when it takes an image off of the delete pile, as it were.

Here's another SOOC shot from a nature walk with my little guy.

Nature "gets" me. It understands layering and textures and sees the beauty in them, too... :)

Some cool layers of mountains, with a very blue sky.

Topaz released the Adjust v5 yesterday and the biggest improvement was the ability to stack layers. So stack layers I did, took a random image from the archives and stacked about twenty layers from all the new presets. Pretty cool. The image isn't that great but I really like the new flexibility :-D

This is the new complex at the top of Grandfather Mountain btw, very nice!

This layering effect of mountains was what I have always dreamt of capturing. The crisscrossing of the lines to meet at the valleys and the foreground and background perspective created by the mist make for an interesting effect.

Here are the highlights of the PS workflow (all on different layers needless to say)

1. Curves layer to darken the image and used Gradient mask to brigten up the face while keeping the shoulders are dark.

2. Adjust Saturation for different channels.

-Green Went up obviously

-Yellow went way down which brought the bg to look decent

-Red went down as well for skin tones

3. lots of dodge and burn on the face to accentuate the makeup and give deepth to the face

4. Dodge/Burn on the hair to highlight them.

I was completely blown away by how diverse the HCM trail was as we went down it. From jungle to crops to abandoned houses there was never a moment we weren't wowed at the start of our trip.

Glued the outer layer on the inner one and clipped in place to dry. My form for the shape is on the left. Any guesses yet? And yes this is cardboard.

Four layers this time. A lot to learn if you are going to make something nice. Thanks to Brenda Clarke for loan of the top texture layer www.flickr.com/photos/brenda-starr/9359259425/in/photolis...

Layers has been chosen as today's topic for the Our Daily Challenge group.

I make notes about my photos every day. I cut sheets of A4 paper in half lengthways and keep them beside my computer keyboard.
