A Discus Launch Glider (DLG) is a radio controlled model sailplane launched using a 'discus launch' in which the glider is held by a wingtip and rotated around the flyer by hand before release. Using this method of launching the average flier can achieve launch heights of greater than 140 feet (43 m), with the better throwers exceeding 200-foot (61 m) high launches.
The discus method of hand launching has now in effect replaced the older 'javelin style' launch, where a hand launched model glider would be launched over-arm, like a javelin would be thrown. The discus launch is far easier, more efficient and less physically demanding than the javelin launch.
Although some DLG designs utilise a traditional built-up construction using balsa wood and covering film, most DLG models are generally now constructed from composite materials, in the form of Kevlar, carbon fibre and glass fibre. Fuselages are moulded in Kevlar/carbon and epoxy, with wings either moulded as a hollow composite shell, or vacuum bagged over a wire-cut foam core.
Most DLG models use aileron, rudder and elevator control, with the ailerons also being used as camber changing flaps for different modes of flight and also as airbrakes for landing. A modern DLG model weighs approximately 9 or 10 ounces (255-283 grams) and has sophisticated aerodynamics. Many pilots use computer radio transmitters with full mixing and flight mode capabilities in order to optimise performance and set up the models for flight as near perfectly as possible.
DLG models are used for both general fun/sport flying and also for contest flying.
this cake was for the launch of odm's Bloc watch here in malaysia. the date on the watch is today's date and the time is the time of the launch. don't know it's visible but the date and time is repeated on the smaller watches on the first tier. as this series of watches comes in 12 different colours, they are all represented in the bottom tier. the watch topper was HUGE! a little over 12" tall... add on the two tiers of cake on the bottom it's almost 22 inches tall in total.

Vintage Futbol Launch Party at Eigtheenth Street Lounge
By BYT at Large
July, 29 2011
Clothing companies sprout up all the time nowadays that it all becomes mundane. Hosting their official launch party at Eighteen Street Lounge, Vintage Futbol set themselves apart from that category; coming out with a bang. Dj Hohme came down from New York City making everyone within earshot move around to his electrifying mashups. This guy rocks an ipad setup with an app he designed to control Serato wirelessly. Vintage Futbol made sure to bring some product out that night and by the second hour, it spread like wildfire. The work speaks for itself and from what you see; a prosperous future is in store for this culture/clothing company. Affiliated with Love Futbol, the guys from VF show us that they’re not just about a good time, but also about giving back. All and all, good times were had with some super friendly people that rubbed off on everyone.

Morecambe Lifeboat launch their Hovercraft. In well over forty years this is the first time I have seen a launch.A case of being in the right place at the right time.
Before the Hovercraft there was just an RNLI inshore rescue boat.
Though for many years the local fishermen had their own ie;not (RNLI boat) lifeboat. which if I remember was a converted fishing boat.

Democracy for Scotland: The Referendum Experience was launched at the Stirling Smith Art Gallery and Museum on 27th April, 2012.
The exhibition was formally opened by MSP Linda Fabiani and the launch was attended by many of the interviewees who contributed their recollections of the 1979 and 1997 devolution campaigns to the Devolution Referendums Oral History Collection at the Scottish Political Archive
Democracy for Scotland focuses on the campaign for a Scottish Parliament in the second half of the twentieth century. In particular it chronicles the history behind the two devolution referendums of 1979 and 1997 and explores the nature of the Yes and No campaigns for both referendums, their results and the re-establishment of a Scottish Parliament.
The exhibition draws largely on the collections of the Scottish Political Archive (SPA). SPA is based at the University of Stirling and is dedicated to collecting oral and other material relating to the political history of Scotland in the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. The exhibition features referendum campaign materials including leaflets, pamphlets, posters and badges deriving from all the major political parties and umbrella groups. It also offers visitors the opportunity to hear the voices of politicians and campaigners discussing their experiences of the referendums of ’79 and ‘97, the intervening period and the establishment of a Scottish Parliament.

Scamp Camp #1, "Scurvy Dogs Team" Reunion 2013, Port Townsend, WA
The planned reunion of a bunch of Scamp Camp #1 boats didn't quite come as planned, Luna #162 wasn't quite ready for her first splash! No worries, we went to Port Townsend for the first weekend of Camp #4, anyway, so we could partake in the launch of Zephyr #161, the fine vessel built by Keith Nasman! While there, we took part in the inaugural launch of two (!!) Scamps (Zephyr and Skol, the beautiful product of Terry's work, from Scamp Camp #3), cruised the waters on an epic trip in Zephyr, and popped into the first day of Camp #4 to wish the next crop of scamplings a fruitful birth.

drawing time about 2 hours (very fast for me!)
The scan blasted out some of the lighter hues in this drawing, but you get the idea. I think I probably should've spent longer on this, but I just wanted to draw something and this is what I ended up doing.
Thank you to rik_surf for the reference photo.
This drawing will soon be available for sale on my website.
