The cut out for the passenger door latch had been poorly cut so I had to fill it, reshape it and paint it before installing the Ford latch. I had sourced some brand new Ford fixing screws but they were too short due to the thickness of the GRP. But I found some yellow passivated Torx screws on ebay that look professional. I also bought some matching yellow passivated bolts for the door crash protection bars fixing.

Another up close look at ugly beautiful.

As the doors are only an inch thick and can't really latch the way a normal door does, I put up magnetic cabinet latches- the same ones you find in most kitchens. THis way I also didn't have to put up door stop (that thin strip that goes around the inside of the frame for the door to go against).

Note that one panel is folded flat against the other. This is why I used the piano hinge. The other nice part about that is that I didn't have to mortise the hinge plates into the doors and frame, which would have been a major pain.

Isometric: Shovel after being rotated and latched. The bowl would be underground.

Well, you see, it's a latch...on a door, um, in the ground. Still not interesting? Would you believe it's a secret door and latch?

this latch holds lots of memories for me.

What lies beyond the many doors that arise before me? Will I open them even if there is no lock upon the latch?
