It's cold, dark, and damp. Minutes, hours, and now days have passed. Living is hard. I've tried to get out. I've pushed and pulled. It has to be locked. There is no way out. I am stuck.
An ornate door latch. Mid 1890s. When this house was built it was cheap workers accommodation, but door latches were still beautiful, crafted hardware.
The gate latch in one form or another has given man power over animals through out history. It generally did not work out so good for the animals. Although some found protection behind it. The poor though they may have it , have little to protect with it..
There is little that remains of the windows in the carriage house, but this little bit of frame and the window latch are still hanging around.
