for Our Daily Challenge topic 'Latch'

Whilst doing a pre shoot for a wedding recently, we stumbled across a builders' yard at the back of a lovely barn. The materials are being stored for use in further renovation, but provided a fantastic source of subject matter from a photographic point of view. In wandering around the yard I came across this latch on a weathered door with the paint flaking away.

The book/box has a nice latch. It is a magnetic clasp.

I broke the latch to the hazard triangle storage compartment on my Audi.

A complicated door latch I have ever seen. May be you know how to latch it, but not me.

Here is the story behind it: During the train journey from bangalore to mangalore, I was standing near the train door watching the scenes outside. There was another man standig next to me. When his station arrived, he asked me to close the other door after he gets out from the train, I agreed , oh yeah I can do it.

After he got down, I closed the door and searched for the latch. I found the latch, oops what is it ? is that a latch ? How am I supposed to latch it ? it looks so simple but dono how to latch it :(. I tried moving the pieces of latch up and down, i felt that the latch is broken. I tried for a while and couldnt do anything. At last called my friend Pradeep, he knew how to lock it, he latched it in seconds :). I stood puzzled and thinking about its complication eventhough it looks simple.

The next thing I did is, I ran to my seat grabbed the camera and clicked photos of it. My friend Fahad commented on the spot ;) " When we asked to click our photos, you were lazy to take out the camera from bag! and when you saw a rusted latch, you came running with camera ! " :) Thats how I go crazy about things which strikes my mind with the scop for a photo!

I loved these window latches, kinda like how I loved every tiny little thing about the streetcars in New Orleans. I could ride them all day.
