i found the lash shadows to be neat. for this i stared into the sun for ~10 minutes experimenting. chalk that up on the list of not-so-smart-moves-by-kaija.
it's a long list.
i'm also going to keep randomly rotating this until i like it.

So I got a new ring light over the weekend and thought capturing the eye lashes of my sleeping brother would be a perfect subject.

What's different - the big one is that I'm a mama now (writing this on Mother's day gets in the bones, I think). It's been a transforming experience for me. I've also quit my day job and am working toward making the photo biz bigger and bigger. So that's pretty awesome. Am I more settled in my skin now than I was then? Sometimes. Sometimes, sometimes. I think that's an ongoing process/struggle.
Ty was drinking the water from the slip and slide and I couldn't help but capture his long lashes...which of course he gets from his father LOL!
I am loving the fact that this little duckling has very long eyelashes and looks just like a girl.... all she needs is a little bow on her head lol

MGA, in their retardity, has decided to make all their real-lashed dolls wear the lashes directly on the eyes themselves. I was able to tweeze out her original lashes on her left eye, but the right eye's lashes wouldn't budge, so I ended up cutting them away individually with an X-acto knife. The new lashes are applied with Mod Podge to the upper eyelid ridge. I used the small individual lashes instead of standard ones.
It was really weird seeing Bat For Lashes play the same stage right after 2 Chainz. I'm not really the biggest 2 Chainz fan, either, I must say.

Homage to the film maker Andrei Tarkovsky. His films and writing have had profound influence on my work. The title of this piece refers to one of his films, Stalker, specifically the closing scene where the disabled girl recites (in voice over) a poem by Fyodor Tyutchev, "I Love Your Dear Eyes...".
I love your dear eyes, my friend,
With their play so bright and wondrous,
When you promptly rise them, and,
Like with a lightning in the wildness,
Embrace at once the whole land.
But there's more fabulous attraction:
The eyes directed to the floor
During the crazy osculation,
And through the lashes, set before,
The dusk and gloomy flame of passion.
I just discovered that Bjork's song Dull Flame of Desire utilizes this poem for lyrics.

The end of week 'lash up' of loco's running back to Crewe this week consisted of 2x Class 66 and 2x Class 86. Sadly for me, but not unexpected, the diesels led.
