Natasha Khan, aka Bat for Lashes, played the last show of her current tour in support of her third studio record The Haunted Man at West London's Shepherd's Bush Empire.

The English singer-songwriter played an energetic set, covering her catalogue with fan favourites such as Glass, Daniel and Laura along with good coverage of The Haunted Man.

The London-based singer gave a shout out to her family who populated an entire wing of the level one balcony to rapturous applause from a very satisfied crowd.

Kahn also managed to squeeze in the first live outing of her cover of Fleetwood Mac classic Rhiannon, describing it as "a song by one of my favourite ladies" and taking to a stand-up piano to perform it.

Taking photos at this show, I was left dizzy following Kahn across the stage and up a purposely-placed ramp as she spun, weaved and jumped her way through her set adding energy and character to songs I'd previously never heard live.

Those gorgeous lashes make mommy jealous.

Bat For Lashes playing Bestival

This week's Assignment 52 is "artificial light". Bradfordik was too busy to pose, so I had to figure out how to work the remote control... and got a good workout running between the camera and the stool. It was very sunny outside, with direct sunlight coming inside... so I had to choke on the aperture and increase the strobe strength.

What I like about this picture is how the light paints lashes on my eye lids.

When the fields are fush with water there is one sight not to be missed, the kambala or the buffalo race that is unique to Dakshina Kannada. This is a unique sport of this region.

The historically famous Koti Chennayya Kambala race is held annually at Moodabidri. At that time Kambala was the event when farmers paid tribute to their gods for protecting their crops. There used to be lot of celebration and games as part of this festive atmosphere. Some say Kambala also marked the beginning of sowing operations for the second round of crops.

Currently its more politically motivated rather than any kind of a tribute.. Kambala has been criticised by animal lovers as inhumane and barbaric due to use of whips on participating buffaloes. Noted animal right activist, Mrs. Maneka Gandhi has expressed serious concerns about the ill treatment of buffaloes during the race. There are huge sums of prize money for the winners along with all round betting for each of the race..

A black baldy cow is a cross between a Hereford and an Angus. I love their markings. They are known to be good mothers.

Mini Pumkin Annie Doll

This tiny cutie is handmade by me :O) She measures about 6“ tall (not including the hanger), and she is made from coffee-stained muslin. Annie’s blouse and bloomers are orange and she has a purple skirt with pumkins and stars. She has a bow that matches her skirt and in the center a pumking button. She has two beads buttons for eyes. I hand stitched her nose with purple and orange DMC embroidery thread. I hand stitched Annie’s brows, lashes and mouth with black DMC embroidery thread, Annie’s hair is done with purple and orange DMC embroidery thread. She has embroidery thread hanger attached to the top of her head for hanging on a tree, or wall.
