Our knowledge is what we know about anything and everything. What do we know about anything and everything? What can we know about anything and everything?

In the last edition of Common Knowledge 2013-2014 cultural professionals with interesting ideas and projects were in the spotlight. A team of coaches helped creatives to prepare the best pitch, which they presented in front of a jury and advisory board, and of course nice audience.

knowledge is a beautiful thing. but why have knowledge with no wisdom?

I pride myself in my knowledge of maps of the United States, and I've been fairly successful on the small number of flights I've taken in the past at picking out places on the ground. But we went farther south than I'd expected, and I wound up on a line I couldn't figure out. I thought we'd crossed the Mississippi River somewhere just north of the Illinois-Wisconsin border, when in fact we'd gone due west for a little while and crossed around the town of Savanna, Illinois. My best guess when I saw this place was that it was Rochester, Minnesota. I wasn't sure, though, and it turns out, I was way off. Looking at the maps, I see this is Waterloo, Iowa, on the Cedar River. That east-west highway running along the bottom of the picture is US 20, intersecting the north-south US 218.

Editor's Note: With regards to that thing where I divide all my pictures up by county, I'm going to have to make a rule. The whole reason I did the county album thing was to try to get a reasonable estimate of the number of counties I've visited, and my definition of "visited" here is "been inside the county's borders while on the ground." I'm not just trying to collect albums with this one, though it might seem hard to tell sometimes. Waterloo is in Black Hawk County, Iowa, and as far as I can remember, I have never been inside the boundaries of Black Hawk County, Iowa. So I'm not going to invent county albums for counties I'm only seeing from the air. I will create an album for a county in Montana here in a minute, but that's because you can see I-94 in the picture, and I know I've driven that segment of I-94.

One has to wonder about god's motivation in making forbidden fruit so damned sweet. We all know how important intelligence is. By displaying this original Twisted Jenius poster, you can take a stand against stupidity, and encourage all of the fools out there to try taking a bite!
