΄Αγιος Γεώργιος Γλίνους Τρικάλων Agios Georgios at Glinos Trikala

The most beautiful cemetery, to my knowledge, is undoubtedly the Holy Church in honor of St. George in the village of Glinos, which, according to a built-in inscription, was erected in 1818 at the site of Paliokopria, where the village was originally then.
Recently completed work of restoration, landscaping and configuration of the surrounding area in full respect of the architectural character of the post-Byzantine monument,as designated by the Ministry of Culture, to be bequeathed to future generations well-established and more beautiful.
To my knowledge the Roseate Spoonbills in Florida are still scattered around and haven’t yet begun their rookery for this season’s nesting. One morning at Wakodahatchee Wetlands a couple hung around after sunrise and acted like they were looking for a nesting site. They do this every year in an effort to purposedly raise our hopes, only to dash them when they disappear to nest somewhere else. Well, I’m not falling for it this year! The base of this work is my very first Save the Family painting, a triptych painted about my own family, including my six children. My first son, third child, Brian, was born and only lived in this world for a little over an hour, and yet he is and always will be a member of my family. He is on the left-hand side, faintly, outside the hearts, indicating he left this world. On the right-hand side is my other son, Séan, who was in a coma for 4 days with Meningitis, thankfully, he survived. At the back are Gerry and I, and in front of us in the middle are our girls, in order: Kristina, Michelle, Karen, and Diana. If you look closely, we are all there, not in reality but in the abstract. Having been blessed with a big and close family made bigger through our grandchildren, needless to say, family is the most important subject of my work.
This is my last entry for the February Hearts in Art Contest.
With heartfelt and genuine thanks for your kind visit. Have a beautiful day, be well, keep your eyes open, appreciate the beauty surrounding you, enjoy creating, and stay safe! ❤️❤️❤️

In the library of Jesus College, Oxford. The black marks on some books are actually ribbons, used to tie the books together - they are so old and fragile and, at times, even broken.
Jesus College (with the full name Jesus College in the University of Oxford of Queen Elizabeth's Foundation) was founded by Queen Elizabeth I in 1571 - it was the first Protestant college founded in Oxford, and had the purpose of educating a suitable clergy. Women were admitted to the college in 1974. Female students had been in Oxford since 1875, living at women colleges, but they weren't allowed to take a proper degree before 1920, but the colleges remained for either men or women - and the women colleges weren't given full collegiate status until 1959. Jesus college was actually one of the first to allow for both male and female students. Now the college teaches a variety of subjects (not just for the clergy) and has some 350 undergraduates.
BAL-05, with the CP 6241 and 6303 in their sharp Golden Beaver scheme leading, weave through some curves along the appropriately named Great River Road north of Guttenberg, IA on the west edge of the Mississippi River Valley. An old MILW line pole for some reason hangs on here, one of the few anywhere along this line to my knowledge. The ballast extra with it’s two set of GREX conveyor cars has been trying to weave through traffic southbound on the Marquette sub all day. Some minor signal issues at the siding at Eckards had delayed the train ahead (K50) and now this BAL-05 was running on restricting signals behind the slower freight most of the way to Dubuque it seemed. But that made for a nice chase for me! This sharp SD60 duo didn't last super long before one of them was replaced with a GP20ECo, unfortunately.
The CTC for this stretch around Eckards to Dubuque is relatively new. The CP has slowly been implementing CTC on the Marquette Sub from Sabula, IA to Bluff (La Crescent, MN), and has finally made it to Marquette with just a few "islands" of track warrant control "dark" territory left south of there. Given the increase in traffic on this line that is a key link in the CPKC’s Canada to Mexico route it certainly does seem warranted. Ballast trains are a common sight on the Marquette as they shuttle rock to expansion and heavy maintenance projects all throughout eastern Iowa from the pit at Waterloo, WI.

On the night of 10th May this year we had a major flood event in Hobart, Tasmania. We had 3.5 times the average monthly rainfall in 24 hours - 130mm.
On that night it was very stormy. But when it was in full force it was quite extraordinary. Our laundry ceiling collapsed and we had a river of water flowing through the ceiling. Our family had a bucket train going to minimise the damage as best we could.
And the whole time, there was constant lightning in the sky. Non-stop. Never seen anything like it. Almost expected to see the rim of a massive ufo appear through the clouds.
The next morning when we looked at the world around us, we saw that the University suffered much worse than we did. This photo is of the Law building - water flowed through the library, bursting the doors and a river of books were swept onto the car park and the oval. Quite extraordinary. The engineering building basement was flooded completely.
So six months later, our laundry is finally being repaired by the insurance company. Either a testament to how widespread the damage was and the lack of resources to fix everything in a reasonable time, or something else.

Blessing with a blow of the trunk.
Orchhâ (Inde) - In most Asian cultures, the elephant is considered a sacred animal.
In India, he is even a leading figure in Hinduism symbolized by Ganesh, the god of wisdom and knowledge.
The photo above illustrates a practice related to Hinduism. It consists of giving an offering to the elephant (banana etc.) and a ticket to its mahout ; in return the pachyderm will bless the donor with a blow from the trunk. Rest assured, the animal is trained so that its nasal appendage is not lethal.
A tradition which amuses believers and tourists, but which should not make us forget that according to a study by the “Word Animal Protection”, most of these elephants are mistreated.

A classic camera resting on the pages of the timeless Enciclopedia Treccani—a perfect pairing of two treasures that preserve history. One captures moments through a lens, while the other captures the world through words and knowledge.

As a curiosity, there used to be a botanical jarden in these grounds called Casa de Fieras (House of wild Beats,) inaugurated in 1774 and closed in 1972. The wild animals were locked up in cages in very poor sanitary conditions, and even in the sixties during a visit I can still remender the strong smell they gave off.

‚If any pure-hearted devotee offers Me a leaf, a flower, fruit or water with love and devotion, i will surely accept that gift.
The preparation may be delicious or not, but if it is offered with love and a feeling that it is very delicious, it becomes most delicious to Me. At that time, I give up all other thoughts and relish it. Even if such a fruit or flower has no taste or fragrance, I still accept it, being captivated by My devotee’s prema.‘
Bhagavan is now explaining the quality of that worship: it is easy to perform. When an easily attainable object, such as a leaf, flower, fruit or water, is offered to Bhagavan with devotion, then He accepts it in an appropriate manner, even though He is endowed with unlimited opulence and is perfectly satisfied. He becomes hungry and thirsty because of His devotee’s love for Him and, absorbed in that mood of devotion, He eats the offering out of prema.
