Gray is the color of intellect, knowledge, and wisdom. It is perceived as long-lasting, classic, and often as sleek or refined. It is a color that is dignified, conservative, and carries authority. Gray is controlled and inconspicuous and is considered a color of compromise, perhaps because it sits between the extremes of black and white. The human eye can distinguish about 500 shades of gray.

Grey. It makes no statement whatever; it evokes neither feelings nor associations: it is really neither visible nor invisible. Its inconspicuousness gives it the capacity to mediate, to make visible, in a positively illusionistic way, like a photograph. It has the capacity that no other colour has, to make 'nothing' visible.

Many years ago I thought nothing of purchasing anything made of plastic. Looking at this image of plastic straws, I am reminded that it is up to each and every one of us to make significant changes to our lives if we care about our Earth and those who will live long after we have left this planet.

In my mind, this image has gone from one of captured beauty to one as a reminder that I need to be aware of my part in protecting Mother Earth.

"Knowledge"

by Jacob Lee

Sit close

Let me tell you every truth I know

I could read you poetry and prose

We could contemplate the syllables

If you so wish for it

If so

Let your consciousness dissolve like snow

Watch the branches replicate your bones

Place the precious palms among your own

Be the water and the boat, and so I stow

Every thought that lies inside of me

Atop the shelves, amidst my library

So when you're older you may visit me

When I'm at peace

Patiently, I reach up above

I can see the ocean as I stare at the stars

I will place my knowledge in your hands

It's okay if you don't understand just yet

Speak slow

Let me ask before I take a note

May I read a couple words you wrote?

Every page you touch, the letters glow

From the ashes do we grow

And I boast

I can comprehend the words you spoke

You're the writer and the quote, and so I hope

Every thought that lies inside of me

Someday finds its way from soul to speech

So I may bestow our legacy

Like you to me

Patiently, I reach up above

I can read the ocean as I write with the stars

I will place your knowledge in my hands

Flick a page until I understand, I do, oh

Like trying to speak while remaining in silence

Like facing your fears without feeling frightened

I'll never know if I'm yet to try it

I'll do my best to stay open-minded

Patiently, I reach up above

I can see the ocean as I stare at the stars

I will place my knowledge in your hands

Flick a page until I understand, I do, oh

Patiently, I reach up above

I can read the ocean as I write with the stars

I will place your knowledge in my hands

Flick a page until understand, I do, oh

Imagination is more important than knowledge because knowledge is limited whereas imagination encompasses the whole world.

The tree of knowledge, connecting to heaven and the underworld, and the tree of life, connecting all forms of creation,

are both forms of the world tree or cosmic tree,

and are portrayed in various religions and philosophies as the same tree

My friend Linda (who is not just an excellent photography artist, but also a wealth of knowledge) with her words on my previous photo has provoked various and interesting comments that have prompted me to post this image of the Dragon Bridge composed of three different sculptures, all representing the Dragon defeated by the mythical Argonaut Giasone, but then become the protective symbol of the beautiful capital of Slovenia

My sun bursted like a star this evening

I had a blast on my hike today

Up to the top where my lake is and there she was waiting for me

All shining

And bursting

Not always easy to get the burst correct

Sometimes it spreads too much and gets all these colours

But this was the best

I was of course thrilled in all my joy of getting a tiny bit more knowledge about this lovely photo-hobby of mine

This tree stands on a bank of the Saddle Brook, its roots tenuously holding on to very eroded soil. You can see the open roots on the bottom of this photo. It is a favorite tree of mine, a symbol of perseverance in the face of peril.

"I'm only lonely

When the night is home

Controlling for me

'Til my right is wrong

Nothing's the way it seems

When things go wrong

I know me, know me

I cannot move on

I cannot move on

Everytime I...

Close my eyes I...

Dream about your face

Nothing can replace

Everytime I...

Close my eyes, your

Voice I can't retrace

Nothing can replace

Nothing can replace

I know you told me that you won't be long

Time lapse and I'm trapped in another's arms...

I am too cold, I long for your warmth

I'm not me, got me

I cannot move on

I cannot move on

Far away

I'm all alone

I'm on my own..." - Ravyn Lenae ♫

“People don't care how much you know until they know how much you care” ― Theodore Roosevelt

It is a real problem, is it not? How can we come to an understanding of this utterly diverse and complicated world whilst sitting in the particularity of our home? It is true that the media, from newspapers to TV and social media, offer us a daily digest of selected information. We would, I sincerely hope, critically examine these news and think for ourselves. However, even so, we would have to deal with the selective nature of the information. We never see "the whole picture". Our knowledge, even at the best of times, is necessarily fragmentary. It is absolutely important to be aware of this limitation - it is one of the virtues that make us human.

I am saying this because AI is on the march. AI has never ever left its ivory tower, it never "left home". It never made any experiences. AI has not seen anything. It does not know how to suffer. What it does is to harvest and (often illegally) exploit printed or published materials, information it has neither created nor even collected. It does not know what it does not know. And yet AI will come up with explanations and scenarios that are untroubled by any kind of self-doubt. AI does not know when it is peddling false information. AI will interpret the world whilst staying at its "home" and will not even be aware of it. Leica M8 plus Voigtlaender 35/1.4 at approx. F8.

KNOWLEDGE is the topic for Wed Jan 13 2021 Group Our Daily Challenge.

This guy was clever enough to grab the nuts that park visitors were feeding squirrels with, before a squirrel could spot them, which is a sign of knowledge.

Wikipedia says:

Ravens and crows are among the most intelligent birds. For example, they show in experiments the ability to plan complex actions. When hiding food, they show both great memory skills and the ability to empathize with others. A raven seems to know that a food hiding place is only safe if it is not observed while hiding. In addition, ravens show an amazing learning behavior (making tools, using road traffic to crack nuts and fruits....

I decided to visit this delightful little Cats Museum currently featured under "Editor's Picks" this month... One of the things I especially appreciated were the two posters that had both "Friendly Plants for Cats" and "Toxic Plants for Cats" on the wall. I knew about a fair amount about the toxic plants, but not all, so I very much appreciate that knowledge - might save my own two rl kitties some day because of that!!

They also have real life pics of kitties for anyone who joins their group, and can have their own kitty pics posted in a frame on their walls, There's lots more great information and facts (in both English and Spanish) about our feline friends throughout! If you're a cat lover, I would definitely pay a visit! ♥♥♥♥ maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Shishapangma/32/133/73

Did you know that the leaves and bulb of a Daffodil contain toxic alkaloid called Lycorine. This substance keeps predators (except certain types of insects) on a safe distance. Due to toxic sap in the stem, daffodil should not be kept in the vase with other plants (it is harmful for them). Facts found at www.softschools.com/facts/plants/daffodil_facts/675/

To my knowledge the Roseate Spoonbills in Florida are still scattered around and haven’t yet begun their rookery for this season’s nesting. One morning at Wakodahatchee Wetlands a couple hung around after sunrise and acted like they were looking for a nesting site. They do this every year in an effort to purposedly raise our hopes, only to dash them when they disappear to nest somewhere else. Well, I’m not falling for it this year!
