I've noticed before how the skins of onions are interesting to photograph, because of their colour and texture. (OK, maybe it's just me!).
If Mungaman sees this (or even if he doesn't), they're Dave's onions!
Strobist info: Nikon SB910 flash in shoot-though umbrella at left and at same height as subject. Nikon SB600 flash with Rogue honeycomb spot modifier above left and slightly behind, just to give a "hair light" to the topmost onion(s). Using TTL flash for both, with 1.5 stops negative flash compensation for umbrella light. (The spot is so constrained it was just a case of trial and error to decide compensation for that). Both flashes triggered by Pocket Wizard Flex TT5s with a Flex mini TT1 and AC3 zone controller on camera.

Today was an annoying day at work, and I really wasn't motivated to work on a photo today so I'm going with a quick macro and a quick upload today. And, luckily I came across a spider taking a nap on a flower (I'm assuming, he wasn't bothered by me clicking away). My first insect macro of 2013, seems like the warmer weather is finally here to stay, although the past couple days wouldn't lead you to believe it!
Oh well, here's hoping the weather is warmer and sunnier for the long weekend!
Hope you've all had a good day! I'll be playing catch up tomorrow some time!

Data,without insightful interpretation ,is worthless.Its like staring at the instruments of an airplane but not knowing how to use them to get where you want to go.
Knowing how much I like to photograph nature and everything else, my co-worker Amy pointed out these bird tracks in the snow one morning on the back deck at our office. She also said she made sure not to step in them, because she knew I would want to take a picture. :)

Here are a few selected examples of Brigitte and Todd's Bride/Groom Portraits we took at two different locations the morning of their wedding on Sept 25 2010.
Knowing I don't shoot weddings and I'm not a wedding photographer, they wanted dramatically lit images featuring the two of them. I was glad that I could still shoot my friends but avoid doing ceremony/reception/typical wedding photography, which is the last type of photography I would want to shoot. No offense to those that do wedding photography, but my interests lie elsewhere.

Knowing the nice weather would be coming to an end, I took the kids to Oak Openings one Friday after picking them up at the baby sitters. I had intended to get some shots of them for Christmas cards, but by the time I got them to stop playing on the playground equipment the light had gone flat. I did manage to take this one, though.

Berlin, Germany. The Memorial to the Homosexual Victims of National Socialism is an unprepossesing monument in a park across the street from the Jewish Holocaust Memorial. To experience it fully, one must become a voyeur, peeping through a small window to discover a film loop of two young men kissing. The monument was designed by Michael Elmgreen and Ingar Dragset. Paul stands beside the window.
Knowing that there were only a few seconds of light remaining, I slid to a stop in the gravel entrance of this drive-in theater somewhere in Southern Michigan or Northern Ohio; I jumped out and snapped 3 quick shots before the sun completely disappeared behind the screen ....it was close.
