I had to put aside any preconceptions of what it should be and let myself go. Not knowing if I would like the outcome, I plodded on and in the end, I like it and am thinking that if I didn't have the deadline I would probably let it grow adding more onto the rows.
To let go, play with fabric and color and let things happen as they come.
In this photo, I am pressed for time and only have the top completed. I will quilt it and bind the edges and have it ready to go if it is chosen. I am reluctant at this point, as I am unsure if it is exactly what was intended by the author, but I feel that you should review this piece to see what I have done with it. At any rate, I hope this will help you with the book.
I believe I chose the wrong initial fabrics for this score in the very beginning. I had to ditch the first set of squares as the fabric I used didn't have enough negative space in the centers for the second part. I used the same negative space centers (white) for the entire piece. If I were to redo this one, I would choose a solid silightly different in color in the second part of the negative space squares, possibly grey or pale blue.
Next time I would use different color combinations and sizes of squares and strips. I would like to see if making it larger, possibly twice the size, would change not only the composition of the top, but the overall look of the patterns created.
Every time, I'm asking if climbers know they're going in such light condition. They seems really focused on their target. Such light are awesome in a final !

These Magnolia flowers have a potent citrus aroma that is delightful, and also beyond my ability to describe. (The flowers are also described as emitting a lemon/citronella scent.)
In addition to their surreal beauty they attract a couple of different kinds of honey bees as an added bonus.
