I know / think I have done "green" on a previous ODC but to keep my 100% (it must be!!) going Carole has allowed me to through up anything from a previous challenge. Well, as I've been pottering about in the garden today it had to be taken there!
This is forsythia growing on our back wall which "thinks" it can take a seat on one of our garden chairs - not for long, that's my chair!!
Our Daily Challenge ~ INSPIRATION ..... (based on January 2013 05 - Green) .....
Thanks, in advance, to everyone who views this photo, adds a note, leaves a comment and of course BIG thanks to anyone who chooses to favourite my photo .... thanks to you all.
I didn't know that Virgin Atlantic was sending the A340-300 to LAX. But I had previously photographed this same A340 at London Heathrow, when it was in the older Virgin Atlantic color scheme and named "Diana." Right now, it's named "Molly."

We know there are lots of phone cases and skins out there, but we want everyone to find the perfect one that's just for them, (and sell it at an affordable price so they can change it up when they like!)
You know what they say.
Marshmallow sticks aren’t born. They’re made.
Well, thankfully MasterCard PayPass™ can save you the time you’ll need to do one up right.
First, find a suitable tree. Red maples are hands down the best. Any fallen branches around? No? Then look for a sturdy, straight branch low on the tree and savagely remove it. Don’t worry, red maples are ubiquitous and fast-growing. Shorten the branch as needed. And keep it at least as long as your fire is wide – if you value your eyebrows.
Next, strip off all branchlets. Yes, that’s what they’re called. Then carefully whittle the end to a point. Not too skinny or your marshmallow will drop off.
Strip about four inches of bark from the end of the stick. Multi-mallow roasters – you impatient gluttons – you need to strip more.
Now, ever been referred to as ‘city folk’? Then strip a hand’s width of bark from the stick’s middle – that rotisserie action can really chafe.
Next, our lawyers recommend that you build a really safe fire in an appropriate venue.
They also caution that the ground outside city limits is dung-laden. (This is actually relevant if you read on.) Fire-harden the stick’s point over hot coals until it’s scorched but
not burned. Let the point cool, then load your marshmallow about an inch from the tip.
Okay, put your marshmallow over the fire and squint – the wind’s about to blow smoke in your eyes. And there you go – your marshmallow just fell off.
Double-check your measurements and start over if necessary. And since your marshmallow didn’t fall in the fire, pick it up and eat it. That stuff it’s covered in is now called spice.

I know i've done this shot before, not even a couple of weeks ago but there is a reason for my repitition. I've been reading up alot on different techniques, particually those when shooting directly into the sun and on how to reduce flare caused by filters. I had a good read of Hougaard Malan's blog last night and his 'Kiss Of The Light' blog entry. So, on seeing there was sunset potential I nipped to my usual haunt to see what I could come up with using the technique.
Theres alot more PP work to do because of the lack of filters but im always willing to learn and try something new especially if it means not having to clone out flare spots! Now, just to try it somewhere abit more scenic ...

How dare you. Fill my head with your sweet words, reciting them as if you have already said them before. Make me think I was special to be with you, like I finally ment something. Well screw you. I wont change for you, or anyone.

You know that point in your life when you realize that the house you grew up in isn’t really your home anymore…all of the sudden even though you have some place to put your shit, that idea of home is gone…or maybe its like this rite of passage…you will never have that feeling again until you create a new idea of home for yourself, for your kids, for the family you start. It’s like a cycle or something. Maybe that’s all family really is: a group of people that miss the same imaginary place.

Did you know the pronghorn can run up to 95 km/h, making it the fastest land mammal in North America.
PHYSIOLOGY
Though the scientific name translates to “American antelope goat” the pronghorns are in fact more deer-like and are the only animals having branched horns (not antlers). The name “Pronghorn”
comes from the odd shape of their horns – forward facing prongs. Female horns are smaller than males. In the late fall or the beginning of winter, the horns will break off to make room for the new ones already starting to grow in.
Pronghorns are very adapted to life in the grasslands. For example, the sandy colours of their bodies provide some camouflage protection from the barren landscape of the flat lands.
With large protruding eyes located further back on their head, they have a wide range of vision so they can see when a predator is coming (up to 6 km away).
The most amazing part of it all is their endurance and speed. With long, skinny legs that let them take larger strides, and a large heart and lungs that allow them more oxygen, the pronghorns can last longer while running distances.
Pronghorns have a distinctive white patch on their rump that they bare to the herd if there is danger.

Okay...I know this is different. This is a collage I made to insert into one of those coffee mugs that has a place for a picture.
Rather than cutting and pasting individual pictures on the template (which I have painstakingly done before)...I decided to do it all this way (which also took some time). We printed it out (at Walgreens an 8x10), cut off the extra blue trim and it turned out great.
If you look carefully, there are only three pictures of me...I wanted to spare my father-in-law some pain. There are also three with my wife (Laura)...the rest are of my son and daughter (Luke and Elizabeth).
This really does look better when Viewed On Black
I know I said I was going to try and shoot more landscapes, the weather today was not great for that. There is lots of mist/smog about the mountain so it was not going to work. Instead I took a photo of my grater!
He knows all that is in the land and in the sea; there is not a leaf that falls from a tree but He knows about it; there is not a grain in the darkest bowels of the earth of which He is not aware; everything fresh and dry has been recorded in an open Book. It is He Who recalls your souls at night and knows what you do during the day; then next day He returns you to your usual work to complete the fixed term of your life.

Do you know your lip shakes
when you're mad?
And do you notice when you're sad?
You don't like to be touched,
Let alone kissed.

Okay, so you know that recent Michigan trip I keep mentioning? It was a different sort of trip than usual, and I'm going to present it in an unusual way. We took the trip as part of a genealogical exploration of one of my ancestral lines, so for the next couple of weeks, I'll be talking a lot about where I originate and some of the people who produced me. But I'll start with a 30-plus-year-old picture of a batch of people who have little to do with Michigan.
These are the folks who actually raised me. I don't like using my real identity on the internet, so I won't tell you their full names. My little play on the name of a movie star gunslinger has worked well enough as a fake flickr surname, though, so that's what I'll call these people. This is a photo of the Midwestwood family, taken in 1983 or '84 for a church directory, I think. The parents, Becky and Milton, sit in the middle with the baby on their lap. The middle kid stands over on the left, looking a little creepy. And the big-haired blond kid standing off to the right with an expression stuck somewhere between confusion and annoyance is the ten-year-old version of me, Clint Midwestwood, oldest of the Midwestwood children.
There's a fun fact about that family I've alluded to several times in the past: only three of the five people in this image are related by birth. That dark haired kid on the left is the only child born to Milton and Becky to make it out of the hospital. (There were three other babies who didn't live longer than a day.) The other two kids, me and the little guy, were both adopted as infants. And it only gets more complicated from there, as that baby and I are genetically related, too. Biologically, the kid is the child of one of my biological sisters, who gave birth to him when she was 16. She figured since my parents already had one her brothers, they might as well have her son, too. I used to have a lot of fun with family pictures by pointing out that the only person I actually share any genes with here is the black kid.
But there's a down side to all this for somebody who likes to compartmentalize things the way I do. Thanks to my wife, who is really good at researching things, I've developed an interest in genealogy. But this leads directly into the question of which genealogical line I follow. I've got two options giving me twice as many ancestors as everybody else. I can follow the line of the Midwestwoods, the people who raised me and from whom the law says I originate. Or I can follow the genetic line that leads to a bunch of people with names like Prout or Frazier or Goudreau or, if you can believe it, Waubojeeg.
At one point in the recent Michigan trip, Robin asked me which line I felt the greater connection to. That's sort of a difficult question to answer, as it hints at a lot of nurture-nature fights. My personal experience tells me those fights mostly wind up a draw, and neither really dominates. I consider both lines "real." They're just real in different ways. Though I'm not genetically related to the people in this photo, Milton and Becky are my real and true parents, and I've never been tempted to think otherwise. And since my parents' ancestral lines made them who they are and my parents made me who I am, I am as much a product of their lines as they are. But the physical stuff that embodies me, the blood and bones and tendency for cancer and bouts of depression and fuzzy hair, that comes from a mix of Michiganders and Mississippians. My love of writing and photography and my urge to over-analyze things probably comes from there, too. So that line's as real as the other.
The genetic line is the one I'll explore in this set, focusing on the lineage of my biological mother. She came from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, as did practically every one of my forebears in that line going back at least 300 years. Here's a few of their stories.
I'm gonna live today like its my last day.
I keep telling myself this whenever I'm down.
You have no idea how many times Avril Lavigne's songs saved my life. haha
