For my sister's blog.

I don't know if anyone ever reads my descriptions, but I write them anyway, so there!!

Was out today (August 20th 2021) on a forced vacation day, from 9:30AM til' almost 4PM. 80F today but it felt like 100F. This is a very active line and I probably flicked 20 freights today. 750+ flicks. By the time I get rid of a few duplicates, and bad ones, I'm guessing it'll be about 700 +/-. 700 to straighten, fix any color issues, upload, and also ID the writers. It's lots of time and as you can imagine, it's a lot of work, but so far it's been fun. I'm trying to not rush myself to post before I'm ready. I already have the flicks, and they're timeless. So getting them posted ASAP!!!!!! is not really my concern. Duh..

Had an interesting interaction with a guy while out there. Guy with backpack had walked back and forth across the tracks a few times. The lat time I saw him he was on the other side of a set, about 100 yards away. Next thing you know he's coming closer..... Closer..... And I'm like WTF? I'm way out here minding my own business. He walks within' like 10 ft. of me and I say "How ya' doin'?" he says something, and then says "Trains?" and I say "Yep." and he says "Oh.." and walks away. I think he was feelin' me out, as there's a small population of people who's homes are shall I say, mobile. I've talked to a few of them, and have never had a bad interaction, I just don't like people walkin' up on me when I'm trying to get away from the rest of the world out by the tracks. I go out there to get away from people, not to interact.

======================

I follow some other amazing photographers on flickr, but for this I will talk about the ones who flick the freights. There are a few that I really love. Some it's because of the great locations they shoot at, and others it's the amazing little details they manage to capture. For me (right now) I don't have the luxury of walking the lines and seeing pieces static. 99.999% of my flicks the freight is rolling by at 10-50 mph and sometimes I don't really even know what I have until I get home, dump the memory cards and go through the photos. Because of this, most of my flicks are just straight on shots and documenting what I saw and where. I saw this freight here, on this date, here's what was on it, and i captured it. Buffed or scraped next week, well I have it on "film" for future generations (sounds corny, I know). There are times when a freight will stop in-front of me, and I'll walk up and get some shots of monikers, but it's rare.

Obviously in any area there are sidings where freights park for extended periods, I know a few spots, but as I get older, and older, do I really want to leave my car parked on the side of the road and walk 2 miles to capture some little details I might normally miss? I'd love to, but it's just not practical for me at this time, any many other people do it better than I could. Retirement is getting closer every day, maybe then, when my weekdays are free. :-)

======================

During the Covid lockdown, I was working from home, and I was getting out benching like 2 & 3 times a month. Back at work, I'm lucky to have the energy to get out once a month. Every time I do manage to get out, I come home and my batteries feel re-charged. It's been so f-ing hot here in SoCal though, I can't wait for cooler weather and some clouds in the sky.

As always, thanks to the writers!

I don't know what to do

I don't know what to do

In today’s world, white smile has become a major #requirement. If you are in your 20’s and you have the dingy teeth, you will look older than a person in 40’s having bright smile. Now, you may start thinking about going for the teeth’s #whitening solutions. Well, there are a few things you will need to take into consideration.

All whitening solutions are not created equal

The effectiveness of a whitening solution depends upon its strength. And if you ask a dentist about, you will come to know that strength comes with abrasiveness. This is the reason that over-the-counter whitening solutions are not made strong because those solutions are not supposed to be abrasive. This is the reason that you need to go to the dentist if you want to achieve brighter smile after a single whitening session.

The strips are not for everyone

You may think about having strips n your #teeth in order to achieve whiteness of smile. But there is a major requirement you will need to consider in this regard. Your teeth need to be straight in order to make the strips work for you. If you have misaligned teeth, the use of strips is going to some areas in your teeth dingy. That variation of color is not going to make your smile better.

Tooth sensitivity

In general, teeth’s whitening results in tooth sensitivity for a few hours and even a couple of days after whitening. That should not be of bigger concern though. However, you may not want to get your teeth whitened through bleaches if you have the problem of chronic tooth sensitivity. This hypersensitivity occurs due to weaker tooth enamel. In this situation, whitening of teeth can result in severity of tooth sensitivity, leading to the issue to become chronically worse.

The effects are not permanent

One thing that you may not like about teeth whitening process is that the effects of whitening are not permanent. However, you can make some lifestyle changes in order to retain brightness in your smile for longer time. For instance, you can quit consuming the foods which can stain your teeth. You can reduce the consumption of coffee and tea. Moreover, quitting smoking can also help you maintain whiteness of your smile. Generally, you have to make sure that you are following dental hygiene recommendations if you want your smile to remain bright for a longer period of time.

Not everyone requires super bright smile

While you may think about achieving extra whiteness in your smile, you have to look at how your natural teeth look when they are absolutely clean. It means that not everyone requires a Hollywood smile. As a matter of fact, a super bright smile may not look quite well on some faces.

All by Me

... And I'm missin' You

... And nobody know it but me !

You know like crochet pineapples? I suppose it is a bit of a stretch. These earrings were woven with aluminum rings, the small are 20 gauge and woven in European 4in1 with the little drop seed beads added to the edges. They are brought together with a larger 16 gauge ring and I used a post as opposed to an ear wire on them.

Wow. What. An. Amazing! Sunrise this morning!!

Last thursday I took the bus to work (hour long drive from Kingsbridge to Dartmouth) I took the camera with me and the 12-24mm lens. You can see my photo HERE.

And today we went to shoot the sunrise. We got up early, (silly o'clock early for a Saturday) drove to Start Point Lighthouse climbed a very very steep and rocky (sharp!) hill top to get the better view. It was very windy as well and to stay a bit warmer we went down the other side. Little bit more sheltered from the beating wind (bare in mind, it could knock my camera on tripod over) and to have a better view of the rising sun!

I've shot 227 photos in just over an hour and a half. Some were bad, most were ok, some were good. It was a really hard decision to to pick my photo of today as there were so many I really liked! I will post them, just not now..

I've chosen this one because of all the colours, the light beams, the warm glow (it was VERY cold out there!) of the sunrise and the birds. I hope you'll like it too, please feel free to leave a comment :)

And again a big thank you to my love Scot for helping me in LightRoom :)

Know the year of this car? Please comment!

Photos from Houston Coffee & Cars, July 2, 2011 at Vintage Park in Cypress, Texas.

Redwood admirers know Montgomery Woods State Preserve as a little gem with big trees: 300-foot tall giants in a series of impressive memorial groves. The reserve’s location (the most geographically isolated of California’s redwood state parks) makes a visit here seem all the more special.

Getting to the remote park, hidden away along the headwaters of Big River in the Coast Range of Mendocino County, can be an adventure in itself. Curvy two-lanes lead from the coast and Ukiah over oak-dotted rolling hills and past Orr Hot Springs, an off-the-beaten-path, rustic hot springs resort.

Thanks to the efforts of the Save-the-Redwood League, the reserve has expanded greatly from an initial nine acres donated in 1945 to some 1323 acres today.

A tranquil trail links the reserve’s five memorial groves that tower above Montgomery Creek. The path gives hikers up-close looks at the grand stands, whose trees are not only tall, but broad (up to 14 feet in diameter), as well.

Montgomery Woods is known as a climax forest, where a small congregation of understory plants gathered around the redwoods lives in a harmonious, fairly stable environment. Beneath the redwoods, ferns, wild iris, miners lettuce, poison oak and redwood sorrel flourish.

Directions to trailhead: From Highway 101 just north of Ukiah, exit on North State Street and head briefly north (away from downtown) to Orr Springs Road. Turn west and travel 13.5 miles to Montgomery Woods State Reserve. Look for the trailhead and small parking area near a road bridge.

From Highway 1, just south of Mendocino, turn east onto Comptche-Ukiah Road and travel 30 miles to the state reserve.

The hike: Follow the path along Montgomery Creek past laurel and tan oak. The trail soon leads across a footbridge to join an old road on the opposite side of the creek. Here you’ll find the first memorial grove—Elizabeth M. Orr Memorial Grove—en route, as well as the reserve’s small picnic area.

A 0.25 mile ascent on the road, then a brief descent brings you to the splendid Grubbs Memorial Grove. About 0.5 mile from the trailhead, the road gives way to a footpath and crosses the creek at the mile-mark via a long log with steps carved into it.

The return leg has a wilder, more-isolated feeling. After traveling over a length of boardwalk, the fern-lined path heads down-creek before returning to Grubbs Memorial Grove and the trailhead.

Beijingers are not known for their ability to queue – especially when they try to exit or enter a congested freeway. It is not uncommon to patiently wait in line only to have a car (several tens of cars) come up the shoulder and try to butt in.

These obnoxious people think that because they're driving a black Audi A6, other drivers should let them in. After all, they are important people in a hurry. Or they think that because they're driving some shitbox 金北 (Jīn Běi - a brand of full-sized van) or 面包车 (miàn bāo chē - a tall, narrow "breadbox" van), other drivers should let them in, because they are reckless people who have nothing to lose.

Most drivers in the proper lane defend their rights by riding a centimeter or two off the bumper of the car ahead, and they move to cut off the shoulder lane to lock-out the illegal driver. Of course, this rarely works, for the offender sees the centimeter gap as an invitation. Neither player in this game of "chicken" is willing to back off. The result, all traffic slows to a crawl until someone gives way.

Game Theory explains why Beijing traffic is congested. Driving on the shoulder is illegal, but it goes unpunished (unless one is stupid enough to drive past the well-marked traffic cameras). In any given duel, the law-abiding driver has a 50% chance of winning. Meanwhile, the law-abiding driver gets one turn to play before the game is over; the offending driver keeps taking turns until he wins. The net score: the miscreant driver always saves time compared to law-abiding drivers.

Game Theory states that because illegal driving manoeuvers are rewarded, and because two vehicles cannot drive side-by-side on a lane built for one, the traffic must slow to a crawl everywhere.

But I've recently found an effective way change the game. I know how to stop these traffic-disrupting jerks in their tracks.

When a driver sidles up to me looking to butt in, I ride the bumper of the car ahead and close in on the shoulder, as before, but I also lower the passenger power-window, reach for my camera, and take the offender's photograph. (I like to use flash because it adds drama to the moment.)

Not only does the offending vehicle come to a stop, the driver doesn't try to illegally merge until several cars have passed. I assume this is because the offender fears I might snap his plate number, too.

When using my tactics, the (frequently) law-abiding driver with the camera always wins the game. So, if all drivers had cameras, the miscreant drivers would logically correct their illegal behaviour and become exemplary citizens, and traffic would flow at optimal speed.

A caveat: I do not recommend this practice in jurisdictions where drivers are allowed to carry firearms.

Austrian postcard by Iris Verlag, no. 6498. Photo: Boston Film / Lux Film. Gustav Fröhlich in Ich will nicht wissen, wer du bist/I Don't Want to Know Who You Are (Géza von Bolváry, 1932).

Smart German actor Gustav Fröhlich (1902-1987) played Freder Fredersen in the classic Metropolis (1927) and became a popular star in light comedies. After the war, he tried to escape from the standard role of a charming gentleman with the part of a doomed painter in Die Sünderin/The Sinner (1951), but the effort went down in a scandal.

Gustav Friedrich Fröhlich was born an illegitimate child in Hannover, Germany in 1902. His father, Gustav König, was a well-known engineer, and his mother Hedwig Therese Sophie Fröhlich, was the daughter of a worker. Foster parents raised Gustav. His foster family moved around western Germany a lot while he was growing up, living in cities like Wiesbaden and Wurzburg. He studied at the Homuth Realgymnasium Friedenau in Berlin. During World War I the young Gustav volunteered for duty in occupied Brussels as press supervisor. In 1919 he started his career as a trainee at a newspaper, but he spent his spare time as an emcee at local variety shows. He also wrote two issues of a dime novel, Heinz Brandt, der Fremdenlegionär/Heinz Brandt, the Foreign Legionnaire. After some entrances at a vaudeville theatre under the stage name Gustav Geef, he took acting lessons in Heilbronn. In the next few years, he appeared on different minor German stages. In Berlin, he played from 1923 to 1925 at the Volksbühne am Bülowplatz under the direction of Erwin Piscator. Later he appeared as The Prince of Homburg at the Deutsche Theater under the direction of Max Reinhardt. His screen debut was a small role in a Dutch-German film produced in Germany, De bruut/Ein neues Leben/The Brute (Theo Frenkel, 1922) with Erna Morena and Adolphe Engers. He then played a secondary role as composer Franz Liszt in Paganini (Heinz Goldberg, 1923) featuring Conrad Veidt. In the following years, he played in such films as Friesenblut (1925) opposite Jenny Jugo. Then Fröhlich landed his breakthrough role as Freder Fredersen in Metropolis (Fritz Lang, 1927) by chance. He was only scheduled to play one of the workmen but four weeks after the beginning he was discovered on the set by Thea von Harbou, Fritz Lang's wife. Lang immediately cast him in the lead because of his striking good looks. A new star was born.

After Metropolis, Gustav Fröhlich was typecast as the fresh-faced, naive 'boy next door' in such silent films as Die elf Teufel/The Eleven Devils (Zoltan Korda, Carl Boese, 1927) with Evelyn Holt, Heimkehr/Homecoming (Joe May, 1928) opposite Lars Hanson, and Asphalt (Joe May, 1929), in which he played an honest policeman who is seduced by a crook (Betty Amann). In 1930, Fröhlich was called to Hollywood by Warner Brothers to do German versions of American sound films, such as Die heilige Flamme/The Holy Flames (William Dieterle (as Wilhelm Dieterle), Berthold Viertel, 1931) and Kismet (William Dieterle, 1931), both with Dita Parlo. Back in Germany, he soon was subscribed for Max Ophüls’ musical comedy Die verliebte Firma/The Company's in Love (1931) next to Lien Deyers, and for Robert Siodmak's crime drama Voruntersuchung/Inquest (1931) with Albert Bassermann. He often worked with director Géza von Bolváry. Between 1931 and 1933 they made six films together. These include Ich will nicht wissen, wer du bist/I Do Not Want to Know Who You Are (Géza von Bolváry, 1932) with Liane Haid, and Was Frauen träumen/What Women Dream (Géza von Bolváry, 1933), which was co-written by Billy Wilder. Fröhlich often played smart gentlemen in lighthearted musicals and romances. Because of his carefree attendance, Fröhlich was seldom allowed to play other characters. One of his greatest successes was his part as the helpful and likeable policeman in Oberwachtmeister Schwenke (Carl Froelich, 1935). He also directed films like Rakoczy-Marsch/Rakoczy March (Gustav Fröhlich, Steve Sekely, 1933), Abenteuer eines jungen Herrn in Polen/Love and Alarm (1934), and after the war Wege im Zwielicht/Paths in Twilight (1948), Der Bagnosträfling/The Prisoner (1949) with Paul Dahlke, and the crime drama Die Lüge/The Lie (1950) with Otto Gebühr.

Between 1931 and 1935 Gustav Fröhlich was married to Hungarian Opera star and actress Gitta Alpár. When she was pregnant with their daughter Julika, he left her. According to Alpár, because she was Jewish and he did not want to hurt his career in Nazi Germany. After the war, Fröhlich tried reconciliation with Gitta Alpár but she never forgave him. Reportedly this gave him a tough time in old age. From 1936 to 1938 he lived together with actress Lída Baarová, his costar in Barcarole (Gerhard Lamprecht, 1935) and Leutnant Bobby, der Teufelskerl/A Devil of a Fellow (Georg Jacoby, 1935). After losing Lída to Joseph Goebbels, Froelich quarrelled with him. There is an urban legend that the quarrel culminated in a slap in the face of the powerful and feared Propaganda-Minister. Allegedly, Froehlich was banned from playing his trade for two years (1941-1943). Lída Baarová later denied this in her memoirs. In 1937, he rented his house in Berchtesgaden to Adolph Hitler's architect, Albert Speer. In 1941 Fröhlich remarried Maria Hajek. Since 1941 he had to serve for the Wehrmacht, interrupted by film engagements like Der Grosse König/The Great King (Veit Harlan, 1942) starring Otto Gebühr as Prussian King Friedrich the Second.

Gustav Fröhlich was seldom involved in Nazi Propaganda films, a fact that helped him to establish a new film career after World War II. He tried to escape from the standard roles of the charming gentleman by playing a doomed painter in Die Sünderin/The Sinner (Willi Forst, 1951). The effort went down in the chaos of a scandal because of the film's open treatment of several taboos such as suicide and euthanasia, plus a brief nude performance by Hildegard Knef. He went on to play leads in light entertainment films including Haus des Lebens/House of Life (Karl Hartl, 1952) with Cornell Borchers, and Die kleine Stadt will schlafen gehen/The Little Town Will Go to Sleep (Hans H. König, 1954) with Jester Naefe. He remained a busy actor after the war but his roles changed from leading men to supporting parts as he got older. From the 1960s on, he had only a few TV film entrances including a part in the comedy Laubenkolonie/Allotment area (Heribert Wenk, Bertold Sakmann, 1968) with Paul Dahlke. He was more active in the theatre, a.o. for the Renaissance Theatre in Berlin and the Schauspielhaus in Zürich. In 1973 he was honoured with the Filmband in Gold, the German Film Award for Lifetime Achievements. Ten years later, he published his autobiography Waren das Zeiten - Mein Film-Heldenleben/Those Were Times - My Life as a Film Hero (1983). His last public appearance was in 1986 when Giorgio Moroder presented his revised version of Metropolis. From 1956 on, Gustav Fröhlich lived in Lugano, Switzerland. There he died in 1987 of a complication after surgery, at age 85. His wife Maria Hajek had passed away earlier that same year.

ATTENTION BIKEPACKERS, GRAVEL GRINDERS AND TOURERS! Step right up and check out this magnificent machine - the 2017 Specialized Sequoia Elite!

Those of us who know a bit about bikes would recognise that Specialized founder Mike Sinyard came from a bike touring background. He started the 'Big S' by shippng a container load of high end European componentry to the states in the 70's, including high end equipment that no-one had seen before. Buoyed by the success of this venture, Mike decided to build the perfect touring bike at the beginning of the 80's - and the Sequoia was born!

Fast forward to 2017, and the Sequoia is back! Touting the mantra 'A thousand Decisions Properly Made', the Sequoia has entered the cycling history books as a modern classic.

With a steel frame and carbon fork dripping with mount points, the Sequoia is strong enough to handle every conceivable configuration of packs, yet it's nimble, light and compliant enough to sail over all the yucky ground with aplomb!

This bike is ready and waiting for adventure, be it a long ride on pavement, excursions onto the dirt for some gravel grinding, some back-country bike packing or a fully-loaded tour for weeks on end. Lumberjack beard and full sleeve tatts sold separately!

Instore sale only thanks. Please give us a call if you'd like more info!

Know your rights

All three of 'em

Number one

You have the right not to be killed

Murder is a crime

Unless it was done

By a Policeman

Or an aristocrat

Oh, know your rights

And Number two

You have the right to food money

Providing of course you

Don't mind a little

Investigation, humiliation

And if you cross your fingers

Rehabilitation

Know your rights

These are your rights!

Hey, say, Wang

Oh, know these rights

Number three

You have the right to free speech

As long as you're not

Dumb enough to actually try it

Know your rights

These are your rights

Oh, know your rights

These are your rights

All three of 'em, ha

And it has been suggested

In some quarters that this is not enough

Well, get off the streets

What an amazing feeling it is when you know that you helped someone who truly needs assistance and would not have been able to afford it. To know that it is because of your help, someone’s life got a little bit easier and safer. That was the goal and vision of Joseph Harper, a boy with Duchene Muscular Dystrophy, who 5 years ago created The Wheeled Scotsman’s Foundation to do just that….to help people with mobility issues who cannot afford to make their homes safe because certain accommodations like ramps, pull bars in the bathroom, wheelchair accessible showers, etc. are usually not covered by insurance. Sadly, Joey passed away in January of 2010, yet his vision and legacy lives on in the people whose lives he has impacted as well as his family and friends who continue to run The Wheeled Scotsman.

It is with renewed vigor and urgency that we push forward and try to help as many people as we can. To date, The Wheeled Scotsman Foundation has been able to help more than 10 families make their homes safer. We send out our contractors, pay for all permits, and complete all work at absolutely no cost to the family or individual. Although we wish we could help everyone on our waiting list, we are limited by funds. 100% of the money raised through fundraisers, like the Black Sheep Run, is spent to help others and this is where we need your help!!!

The Kid’s 1 Mile Fun Run will start at 9 am. The Family Fun Walk will start at 9:15 am. The 5K will start at 9:30 am. Dogs on leashes and baby strollers are all welcomed. Awards will be given when all the races for that day have finished. This includes: top male and female for each category as well as the top five males and females of each category will also be recognized. Categories consist of: dogs on leash, baby joggers, and headphones

Michael lifts his rifle. "You are going to die.. cause no one is ever going to know what happened here.. " he says plainly. "Open up the door and walk.. " he commands.

Guin freezes. No, this is not how it's supposed to go. "No one has to know," she says lowly, trying to get through to him but backing out the door, just in case. "The man was unstable. OD'd. Out of our control. Get the place vaccinated tomorrow, and we're all good. Just... put that down... "

Michael stiffens in his stance. "Tell me first protocal steps in any Bio lockdown!" he barks at you. "Tell me what Semper Fi means!"

Guin feels a surge of unfiltered panic, hands tightening into fists. "Always faithful," she manages, through a closed throat. That one, she'd known, thank you, grandpere... "And I don't know, off the top of my head, with a rifle trained on me. Seal the contaminated area. Call in the biohazard crew to clean the place.. "

Michael moves suddenly bringing his rifle forward and reversing it to swing it at her stomach, the rifle butt first.

Guin holds her breath again, every muscle tense. Her eyes are on the rifle, on his fingers caressing the trigger... there's no time to prepare as he swings the rifle around. The air leaves her lungs in a rush, the impact jarring her spine. Eyes wide, she falls to her knees, unable to draw a full breath. She looks up at him in shock, gaping like a fish out of water.

Michael follows up the attack as he was already moving to finsh it .. sweeping up and with a quick jab down he drives the rifle butt down aiming for the temple of the female's head.

Alayna somehow managed to calm herself and get out of the med bay, she was headed right for the computer terminal.

Guin reaches up as if to stall him, or knock away the gun. The overhead light glints off metal as it arches in her direction. She reacts on instinct, lunging forward... she catches a glimpse of the woman, but can't speak. Something hard slams into her temple--everything is on fire. She prays the woman talks him down, and fights to stay conscious. "They'll come looking," she gasps. "If you kill me... "

Michael knees her savagely .. aiming for her head as she lunged into the attack, to put her to the ground. His head snaps around to Noel. "We're breached.. don't say ANYTHING in the open.. no transmissions.. no computer.. they set us up.. and I am going to finsh it.. no one ever needs to know! Just watch her!" He moves up to the door to card through.

Alayna paused and turned. She wasn't a soldier, not like him. "I'll....I'll watch her."

Michael moves along the corridor .. his rifle tracking.. seeing no one there he continues down the corridor.. finger on the trigger.

Guin collapses, stars exploding behind her eyes. His words come from a great distance, but it's impossible for her to think. "Help me," she whispers, trying to turn her head to the woman. Trying to open her eyes. "You don't want... the base coming... expecting me... " She groans, blackness closing in. She beats it back, focusing on something. Sly smile. Quiet voice. A cat's laugh. "Let me go. Before he comes back... I won't report... " Her words are slurred as she crawls toward the woman. She can taste blood, as it drips into her mouth.

Alright, so we know Gordon Ramsay's got a mouth. It's a staple in all of his shows. And it's a big reason why TV producers went after him to do reality shows. It started with 'Kitchen Nightmares,' then 'Hell's Kitchen,' and now his latest - 'The F-Word.' By the way, the F... it stands for Food. So, how did Gordon get to this point? Well, he was born in Scotland and raised in England's government housing. His dad was an abusive, hard drinker, with big expectations. And he pushed his son to go for a career in football with the Glasgow Rangers. But Gordon hurt his knee and the dream was over. So instead, he pursued his passion for cooking... As you might expect, his dad didn't approve. But that just drove Gordon even harder - some say too hard. Either way, he built an empire. We're talking two dozen restaurants around the world, with more than a thousand employees. And he's cooked privately for everyone from Pierce Brosnan, to David Beckham, to Vladmir Putin. But staying on top can be tough, and last year, Gordon took a beating. A couple of his flagship restaurants were knocked out of first place on food guides. Critics were harsh. In spite of it all, the multiple star Michelin chef is still going strong. He's just launched a new book 'Gordon Ramsay's Fast Food.'

Or as we say, 'guitorset'. See, he wanted to have a guitar he could take with him on his motorcycle (as he ain't got no car you see) so he bought some cheap pawn shop acoustic but then it didn't fit on his back well so he made this ... thing. This way it has places to fasten the straps in ... um ... all the right places? So it fits on his back correctly?

Plus the leather deadens some of the high sharp tones from the cheap guitar so that's good, right?

If you want to know more about this crazitude you can just ask Matt. He knows what's what.

I know [inFocus] did something similar last week but I really wanted a go. The 4m height didn't really help with my fear of heights and neither did the sloping landscape. Thanks to my dad for pressing the shutter once I had summed up the courage to get up the tree. Anyway here it is. HFDT!!

You know, back when we made arrangements to travel to the Center for Railroad Photography and Art conference in Illinois there was anticipation of the first really nice spring trip through a greening countryside with warm temps. Unfortunately it hasn't been that kind of spring, spring has been so delayed I'm not sure there will be much of it left once winter gives up. We started the trip amidst cold, ice and snow then two days later returned to more of the same. The conference was a great time and I'll be putting up the results of the trip down and back in the next few days.

I've got you now, I'll show you all

I'll kick out the chair, let you dangle slow

In the back of the bus all of us

Like the coats in cloak rooms

And if you rise again, take a form I know

The river will boil, then overflow

And the houses you're haunting

Will tremble with temporal hoodoo

I don't know about you

But I am hellbent, I know what it is that I must do

Close your eyes when we kiss

'Cause I'm prepared to set myself on fire for this

You will drop on all fours

Get down, show me what you're good for

Sass mouth, pink bellied I perceive

And for this your naughty deed

I'm throwing you over my bony knee

So don't cry, don't scream good lord

You always knew what you're in for

When my belt unbuckles so believe

You grubby little thing

I'm throwing you over my bony knee

In your tender place when you're safe at home

There's a tombstone that waits of your very own

While you're rutting like beasts

In the sheets of my sterilized room

In your comfy bed, air-conditioned car

There are vapors and toxins to get you all

In the water you drink, in the air that you breath

In the soil under your shoe

I don't know about you

But I am at peace, I know what it is that I must do

I hope you are sitting down, dear

Come hell or high water this sick world will know I was here

You will drop on all fours

Get down, show me what you're good for

Sass mouth, pink bellied I perceive

And for this your naughty deed

I'm throwing you over my bony knee

So don't cry, don't scream good lord

You always knew what you're in for

When my belt unbuckles so believe

You grubby little thing

I'm throwing you over my bony knee

2012. the year of the vintage (made between 1919 and 1930), veteran (pre-1919) and old.

No Classic cars (That comes in the 2013 run).

For more information look at www.baytobirdwood.com.au/the_run.html

I got to the grounds early (about 6am) and watched the oval fill from nothing. 1800 cars were expected for the biggest event of this type in the world.

From the website

"The sun will not yet have risen over the Adelaide Hills when the very first vehicles start arriving at Adelaide Shores. It may only be 6am but the excitement will already be palpable as these marvellous veteran, vintage and early classic vehicles ready themselves for the biennial Bay to Birdwood Run.

Breakfast With The Cars has become a tradition and this is the spectators' opportunity to mix 'n mingle with entrants and their vehicles. Enjoy a range of breakfasts provided by local service organisations washed down with jazz and other vintage entertainment, line the start ahead of the flag off by the one and only Glen Dix at 8:30 am and be a part of this icon event. It takes approximately 1.5 hours for all entrant vehicles to depart on the route to Birdwood - give them a send off they won't forget!

Vehicles head down West Beach Road after the official Start turning right into Tapleys Hill Road then left into Anzac Highway. Their journey through metropolitan Adelaide en route to the Finish at the National Motor Museum in Birdwood enables the spectators who line the 72km route each year to see Australia's greatest motoring show on wheels pass right in front of them - 2 hours of motoring history!"

The cars need to meet strict guidelines and the drivers and passangers are encouraged to dress in period clothes.

"Only those motor vehicles built and at ready for sale stage on or before 31 December 1955 are eligible to take part.

The onus of proof of date of build is the responsibility of the entrant and if required by the Committee must be substantiated and be supported by a Statutory Declaration. In the event of false information being supplied all entry monies will be forfeited.

All motor vehicles must be substantially to manufacturers' specifications, roadworthy and of acceptable standard of quality in the opinion of the Committee."

I enjoyed the ride. We passed many broken down cars whilst gliding along in my fathers Jowett Javelin.

We ended up in the fields behind the Birdwood Mill. We looked through the muesum and also the best dressed cars in the Concours d'Elegance. We listened to period music and poked about amongst the cars.

No one else will ever know the strength of my love for you. After all, you're the only one who knows what my heart sounds like from the inside.

I didn't know which picture I liked best out of this one...

Because frames are bad enough.... and watermarks are bad enough... and the two together just suck.

I know "theft" is bad. But this is worse.
