In 1934 Dinesen published the short story collection “Seven Gothic Tales” which included “The Deluge at Norderney”. One of the characters named Jonathan Maersk, became unhappy when he learned that his father, ship captain Clement Maersk, was not his genetic father. He visited the ocean and contemplated ending his life, but a woman in black lace unnerved him when she appeared and asked to die with him. Jonathan later spoke to his father Clement and asked whether he knew of a cure for his melancholy.
Isak Dinesen and Tania Blixen were pen names of Karen Blixen who wrote the books “Out of Africa” and “Babette’s Feast” which were made into award-winning movies. This article will use the name Isak Dinesen.

Yes I know its two weeks after Halloween but I liked the theme of "My Domain" so much that I decided to make a few small changes to make it more of a sanctuary type of place, somewhere your modern witch might also go to relax and unwind. DRD's Bloodcroft Castle gacha provided me with just the pieces I needed to achieve that goal. I know it's really not the best shot, but the light was absolutely horrible. This is my first ever shot of this species, and also the first time I've ever seen one for longer than a second.
This species is honestly bigger than I had really imagined; kinda hard to believe, really, where the phrase "skinny as a rail" really originates from ;).

Yes, I know about "how cute" and "who can resist?" We had her over a couple of times and she does know us. Even more, she seems to see us as part of her family. In fact, I believe that she regards herself as a "child" belonging to a family of humans. She made it perfectly clear that she has certain expectations in terms of participating in our social life, eating our kind of food - almost asking for equality and fair play. Now my question is, how does evolution work in this case? Did dogs evolve to bond with humans? Did humans develop affinity to dogs? Or, is there a process of mutual co-evolution or even co-assimilation?

Just to let you know, the Loon rescue team have advised that a channel opened up in the ice and the last 3 Loons presumably left
8 out of 10 are now hopefully doing well out in clear water.
I know I keep posting E-Type images and saying how much I love the competition cars, but this one in particular is a real beauty. OWC 4 is a competition replica built from a crashed chassis sometime around 1987 by racing driver Bryan Wingfield.

This is the first dormouse I have ever seen, they are very rare in my part of the UK, shame the brambles got in the way and hopefully next time I will get a much better picture, but still really excited just to have seen it.

I know It says in the exif file that I edited it in photoscape but I only resized it, I did it in darktable. The camera I use was a compact camera a nikon coolpix s8000, I didn't really liked the camera simply because it didn't had any full manual mode ¯\(°_o)/¯ and now raw format ( at least 12-bit ) I sold it a short time after but I didn't really liked to use this camera. This photo was taken a long time ago ( when there was snow for the christmas holydays ). The composition is minimalist, the simplest is the best. As most people know Jonathan myself and our dogs should have been camping about four miles from here right now and i imagine yesterday the weather condition about the same as in this shot...No crowds then possibly not even now as Cornwall not open yet to tourism..

Porthkidney Sands stretch from the mouth of the River Hayle in Lelant to Hawk’s Point in Carbis Bay. The beach is around a mile long and at low tide the sea goes out a long way leaving a vast expanse of usually almost deserted sand. The fact that one can barely discern the river mouth from beach level gives the impression the beach goes on practically to infinity! The beach is many visitor’s first glimpse of the Atlantic Ocean as they round the corner on the St Ives branch train. The track runs along the length of the beach as it climbs up to Carbis Bay. The beach is overlooked by one of the areas top golf clubs too; the West Cornwall Golf Club.

Alisterus scapularis. Apollo Bay. Barham Hill Retreat... good place for birders, the lady knows her wildlife... who's around, where they'll be....and when. I don't know if it was planned or lucky... but the plantings attract lots of birds, I saw these two from the back deck... female plonked down on the gutter, hung her head over the edge and checked us out.

Everyone knows that most agricultural products require the fields to change every season, meaning you need to let fields sit fallow sometimes, to rest. The same is true at the Wooden Show Tulip Farm. Every year the tulips are in a different field. They have one field that lines up particularly well with Mt. Hood, that's the field they used this year. The last time this field was used was when they shut down the whole event for Covid. It's been about 6 years since the public got to see flowers in this field.
I had the treat this year of having my son greet me there, he worked at the event this year, his first job. He is also know getting into photography, so we were shooting side by side, how neat is that?
Let me know what you think if this one, my wife liked it, which means it had tons of color (she only likes the colorful shots).

You know we make a lot of connections here. I know it's the internet and I know you can't trust people here and you CAN trust people here. I have been very fortunate to have made what I consider many friends. I have learned and trusted and loved here. Today, I am saying goodbye to someone who has been a friend here for 5 years or more, one of my first contacts. Someone who is has inspired me and helped me along my journey.
I know I talk about Francesca Woodman and the inspiration in the motion that I have found, but "Olga" , was one of the first people in my real world that was actually practicing the fine art of motion.. and she was Canadian, :) She had such a wonderful energy and aura. Thank you for sharing your world with so many of us. My heart is broken ~
