I know my mind and I have made my choice.

Not from your temper does my doom depend;

Love me or love me not, you have no voice

In this, my portion to the end.

Your presence and your favors, the full part

That you could give, you now can take away:

What lies between your beauty and my heart

Not even you can trouble or betray,

Mistake me not – unto my inmost core

I do desire your kiss upon my mouth;

They have not craved a cup of water more

That bleach upon the deserts of the south:

Here might you bless me; what you cannot do

Is bow me down, that have been loved by you.

Well, you know the rest...

"Looking close on Friday" theme: Just one drop.

The new year is here and with it comes resolutions for many - including me. Now that all of the Christmas sweets and treats are eaten and out of the house, I am wanting to get my healthy habits back on track. I have overindulged for the last few months. Apparently, moderation is not in my vocabulary. Geez, I would be a terrible addict! One look at something and I'm a goner! So everything has to be out of the house. Out of sight, out of mind...

Thanks for visiting! I hope your 2026 is off to a great start!

Nobody knows it but you've got a secret smile

And you use it only for me

Nobody knows it but you've got a secret smile

And you use it only for me

So use it and prove it

Remove this whirling sadness

I'm losing, I'm bluesing

But you can save me from madness

Nobody knows it but you've got a secret smile

And you use it only for me

Nobody knows it but you've got a secret smile

And you use it only for me

So save me I'm waiting

I'm needing, hear me pleading

And soothe me, improve me

I'm grieving, I'm barely believing now, now

When you are flying around and around the world

And I'm lying and lonely

I know there's something sacred and free reserved

And received by me only

Nobody knows it but you've got a secret smile

And you use it only for me

Nobody knows it but you've got a secret smile

And you use it only for me

So use it and prove it

Remove this whirling sadness

I'm losing, I'm bluesing

But you can save me from madness, now, now

When you are flying around and around the world

And I'm lying and lonely

I know there's something sacred and free reserved

And received by me only

Nobody knows it but you've got a secret smile

And you use it only for me

Nobody knows it but you've got a secret smile

Nobody knows it, nobody knows it, nobody knows it

But you've got a secret

Nobody knows it, nobody knows it, nobody knows it

But you've got a secret

Nobody knows it, nobody knows it, nobody knows it

But you've got a secret

Nobody knows it, nobody knows it, nobody knows it

But you've got a secret

Nobody knows it, nobody knows it...

I know this is a sad song for Valentine's Day but.....I actually find it very romantic. Haven't we all been here? And sometimes.......we get what we want. I know I did. :)

"On My Own" by Frances Ruffelle

On my own, pretending he's beside me

All alone, I walk with him 'til morning

Without him, I feel his arms around me

And when I lose my way I close my eyes and he has found me

In the rain, the pavement shines like silver

All the lights are misty in the river

in the darkness, the trees are full of starlight

And all I see is him and me, forever and forever

I know it's been awhile.. But we have been busy..We are setting in Richmond VA heading out in the morning to Laredo TX... After my sons wedding I hope to be back up and commenting on all your beautiful photos.... Have a great weekend...deb

“I know he's around,

When the sky and the ground start in ringing.

I know that he's near,

By the thunder I hear in advance.

His words, his words alone,

Are the words that can start my heart singing,

And his is the only music that makes me dance.”

Lyrics from “The Music That Makes Me Dance” written by Bob Merrill and Jule Styne from the musical “Funny Girl” (1960).

The theme for "Smile on Saturday" for the 6th of June is "musical instruments", and when I read the theme, the lyrics from the Broadway musical “Funny Girl”, based on the life of American comedienne and singer Fanny Brice, written to showcase singer and actress, Barbra Streisand’s vocal and comedic talents, came to mind. I happened to have a still life that I think is suitable for the theme already: one featuring a pair of rather eccentric designer shoes and a violin borrowed from a musician friend of mine. In order to highlight the beautiful instrument, I have processed the photo in selective colour. As “The Music That Makes Me Dance” is a romantic song about unrequited love, I decided to leave the pink roses in the still life in colour as well. I hope you like my choice for this week’s theme, and that it makes you smile!

The shoes that feature in this still life are stilettos from the 1950s in pristine condition. The heel pads are leather, whilst the toe of the shoes are bleached snakeskin hand painted with black dots and finished with a black grosgrain ribbon.

The purse in the foreground is a hand beaded example from the late 1910s to early 1920s, made of black faceted jet beads.

The glasses on the tray are faceted crystal from the 1930s, whilst the decanter of port is from the late Victorian era. The soda syphon is from the 1920s. The silver tray and lidded silver serving dish are late Victorian.

how the trees in your yard behaved

When you were born,

whether the air was thick

from there I know you so well ..

Saturdays: Landscapes

People pass me by on my imaginary street

Ordinary people, it's impossible to meet

Holding conversations that are always incomplete

Well, I don't know

"... I'm not allowed in the kitchen sink. But it's fun & I get LOTS of attention!"

Since she's been ill, I'm happy now when she does anything naughty or plays like a kitten again.

Happy Caturday!

Everybody knows Green Day.

Green Day is an american rock band formed in the east bay of California in 1987 by lead vocalist and guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong and bassist and backing vocalist Mike Dirnt. For much of the band's career, they have been a trio with drummer Tré Cool, who replaced John Kiffmeyer in 1990. Wikipedia.

I don't like this band but it is the name that I needed :-)

I know you want me

Every day, not only when you're lonely, yeah

You see, you think you know me

But you don't even know nothing about me, yeah

You see my thick thighs

Lost when you look into my brown eyes

See, my little waist can make you switch sides

You never know the devil in the disguise

So why don't you stand up, baby, and

Tell me, tell me, tell me do you want me on top?

So let me show you, show you, show you, I don't need to back it up

Don't wanna hold ya, mold ya, scold ya

Split you in half with my heart

I just wanna love on you, trust in you, honour you

Please do the same on your part

Do you know how it feels like to have you around me?

If you know a kid that you want to get interested in the ocean, science or the outdoors, this fish may pique their interest. It's a Striated Frogfish, also known as a Hairy Frogfish. Some have a lot more of a hairy look than this one. When I was with Scott, Judy, and Marie, they were finding a lot of Frogfish but this one was on relatively clean sand and booking it on his way to somewhere. (Personally, I think he had a date.) They "walk" on their front fins but usually stay still, fishing with the little artificial lure in front of their mouth. When a small fish gets to close, attracted to the lure, they open their mouth rapidly, creating an intake of water, prey and all. I read that they have the fastest bite in nature, but that may be a claim like "The best BBQ west of the Mississippi", but I believe it. Another critter from the Blue Heron Bridge dive. (Antennarius striatus)

Also know as: common dormouse

Scientific name: Muscardinus avellanarius

This is the first dormouse I have ever seen, they are very rare in my part of the UK, shame the brambles got in the way and hopefully next time I will get a much better picture, but still really excited just to have seen it.

Thank you for taking the time to stop by, your comments or criticism is very much appreciated, take care, stay safe and have a wonderful weekend my flickr friends 😊

Especially on a day like this! I love popcorn clouds and blue skies. And there was plenty of wind so the sky was always changing - I had to wait a little bit so there weren't any shadows on the field/hills.

Another day from last summer up near Pickerel Lake.

Please enjoy...

Have a great day!

First pic with my new TC-2.0x, focal length 100 magnified to 200

Yes I know its two weeks after Halloween but I liked the theme of "My Domain" so much that I decided to make a few small changes to make it more of a sanctuary type of place, somewhere your modern witch might also go to relax and unwind. DRD's Bloodcroft Castle gacha provided me with just the pieces I needed to achieve that goal. I usually post detailed credits with my images but I am cheating this time as most of the credits are here: www.flickr.com/photos/131723058@N03/37596757536/in/datepo..., with the exception of a few pieces by DRD. If there is anything in the picture that you don't see a credit for, please let me know and I will send you the item info.

Thanks and Enjoy!

I know it's really not the best shot, but the light was absolutely horrible. This is my first ever shot of this species, and also the first time I've ever seen one for longer than a second.

This species is honestly bigger than I had really imagined; kinda hard to believe, really, where the phrase "skinny as a rail" really originates from ;).

good birding,

Yes, I know about "how cute" and "who can resist?" We had her over a couple of times and she does know us. Even more, she seems to see us as part of her family. In fact, I believe that she regards herself as a "child" belonging to a family of humans. She made it perfectly clear that she has certain expectations in terms of participating in our social life, eating our kind of food - almost asking for equality and fair play. Now my question is, how does evolution work in this case? Did dogs evolve to bond with humans? Did humans develop affinity to dogs? Or, is there a process of mutual co-evolution or even co-assimilation?

I know I keep posting E-Type images and saying how much I love the competition cars, but this one in particular is a real beauty. OWC 4 is a competition replica built from a crashed chassis sometime around 1987 by racing driver Bryan Wingfield.

I know, I know, another Rainier shot. Told ya I was out! :-)

taken just after the alpenglow died off, liked this spot better but just missed that golden couple minutes. taken above Shadow Lake, Sunrise area.

I put a box where the climbers are, unfortunately on here you can only see the blazed trail, but in lightroom I can see them well enough to count them. :-)

I was able to put the cropped version in comments, kinda cool.

" I know, we have to get up on the fence", said Paddington "Cat always comes that way"

Frīda, impressed by idea about new dress from Monsiour Scout's shop, was ready to climb up the fence

Nessie: " That was too much for me, no more climbing! I will watch the holes under fence in case Spot the Cat decides come incognito! And let one of Twin Leopards stay with me here!"

But Paddington, Frīda and Twin Leopard climbed up on the fence.

Unfortunately Spot, the Cat, was not around

We had no more time to search for him

I know I have most likely posted pictures of this bike before but ... well, it's so photogenic! LOL We actually had about 4 inches of snow on Tuesday, the first snow of the season! This bike sits in my yard in a small garden next to the swing. Two symbols of childhood (to me) that are timeless and bring many fond memories. Sadly, most of the snow has melted away already but I have hopes of a repeat before the winter is gone away completely.

You know this is one of those pics that I've been wanting to post since 2016, but somehow it always got moved to the back. I actually like this one a lot, so finally here it is!

As most people know Jonathan myself and our dogs should have been camping about four miles from here right now and i imagine yesterday the weather condition about the same as in this shot...No crowds then possibly not even now as Cornwall not open yet to tourism..

We have re booked for next year-Here hoping....

From my archive taken on a Nikon D300 with a 24mm Nikon DX Lens

Porthkidney Sands stretch from the mouth of the River Hayle in Lelant to Hawk’s Point in Carbis Bay. The beach is around a mile long and at low tide the sea goes out a long way leaving a vast expanse of usually almost deserted sand. The fact that one can barely discern the river mouth from beach level gives the impression the beach goes on practically to infinity! The beach is many visitor’s first glimpse of the Atlantic Ocean as they round the corner on the St Ives branch train. The track runs along the length of the beach as it climbs up to Carbis Bay. The beach is overlooked by one of the areas top golf clubs too; the West Cornwall Golf Club.

Taken 12 Years ago in June 2008 but nothing alters here....

I know I photograph this location regularly but I'm always blown away at what I can come up with. This morning was one of those rare occasions where the sky opens up and the colour explodes for only a brief few minutes. That glow you get off the water and rocks along with the flow is just mind numbing and this scene really depicts the passion I have for landscape and photography in general. I hope everyone who reads this is well and staying safe through this crazy time in history.

I took your heart

I did things to you

Only lovers would do in the dark

Made you a God

Pre-spokes and pre-shows

Will tell me what I did wrong

But hey

You made a nigga flip

What do I say

To make me exist?

Ooh, stranger

Still don't know my name

You still don't know my name

And I would die or stay

For you right now

But you still don't know my name

Yeah

Wish you, wish you'd come over

Missed you, kissed you and make-believe

I'm dreamin' of all the possibilities

I'm kissing all over your body, my Nefertiti

And every time I think the plan is aligning

You still so close yet so far

Still don't know my name

You still don't know my name

And I would die or stay

For you right now

But you still don't know my name

Yeah
