Lights flash and we'll run for the fences

Let them say what they want, we won't hear it

Loose lips sink ships all the damn time

Not this time

I know it hurts

It's hard to breathe sometimes

These nights are long

You've lost the will to fight

Is anybody out there?

Can you lead me to the light?

Is anybody out there?

Tell me it'll all be alright

You are not alone

I've been here the whole time singing you a song

I will carry you

I will carry you

I know you can't remember how to shine

Your heart's a bird without the wings to fly

Is anybody out there?

Can you take this weight of mine?

Is anybody out there?

Can you lead me to the light?

You are not alone

I've been here the whole time singing you a song

I will carry you

I know it's just a "standard" photo but every now and then I like to photograph something like that.

Especially when the weather changes so beautifully. The sun tries to take the lead what this day in Hamburg was not so easy for them.

What I like even more is the variety of moods in the photos. Therefore, I decided to also post such a photo. Bad weather or not it is exciting to develop such photos. I was able to take many photos here with such very different contrasts and moods. Anyway look what you might discover here so.

I assume this is a rooftop restaurant, but I don't know. I just liked the lights reflecting on the water tanks.. Maybe my NYC friends might know the name of it. Photo taken at 28th and 6th.

This is a movie about the dramatic relationship between woman and fish.

Woman stands between life and death

Sundogs, also know as parhelia, are caused by the atmospheric reflection of sunlight by plate-shaped hexagonal ice crystals. They are often seen as part of a 22 degree halo.

This one caught my eye on the way home from work. The color was so vivid, I had to pull over and take a shot. Too bad the iPhone did not pick up the color as well as my eyes.

What's wrong with this picture?

Maybe they're having a two-man tournament..... & she's keeping stats on their catches.

One never knows what you'll spot while on the water or out in the wild......

Thanks for taking a look......

Have a great Thursday...........

Pulling me further...

Further than I've been before.

Making me stronger.

Shaking me right to the core.

I don't know what's in the stars.

Never heard it from above, the world isn't ours.

But I know what's in my heart..

If you ain't mine I'll be torn apart.

I don't know who's gonna kiss you when I'm gone...

So I'm gonna love you now, like it's all I have.

I know it'll kill me when it's over.

I don't wanna think about it, I want you to love me now.

When the night comes

And you lay your weary head to rest

No more trials, no tests

When the night comes

When the night comes

You dont have to be afraid

Of any choice you made

When the night comes

Dont be afraid

Youre only dreaming(repeat)

When the night comes

The headlines read

Whatevers in your dreams

When the night comes

When the night comes

And you lay by the one you love

The one who knows you and the things you do

When the night comes

Dont be afraid

Youre only dreaming(repeat)

When the night comes(repeat)

PS: If four of your minutes need killing, here is an account of the unusual hike to this waterfall.

Shot near Union Square.I don't know who came up with the idea of putting these charging tables at some of the city's public places, but I think that was a smart move.I didn't know that the one seen here was at this spot when I needed to charge my phone (don't ask why) until I saw it recently in the shot. There was one charging kiosk I used at an eatery on 3rd Avenue. The kiosk had about three small compartments that were lined up vertically. You slip your debit or credit card in a slot to open up one of the compartment doors (you don't get charged, your card number is just read). You then connect one of the charging cables to your phone and leave it inside to charge. If you want to eat something at the eatery (or even go somewhere else) to kill time you can do that too, then return later for your phone.Having the phone charging kiosks installed at the eateries is certainly good business for them,I think.

Ya'll know it's Flyday! How could I not post one? This is a female Dance fly, differentiated from the male by the dark band between the eyes. The name Dance fly comes from their erratic movements while in flight. Their courtship involves the male presenting a dead fly to the female, and mating does not take place until the female accepts and eats it. Usually found in moist areas, they feed on smaller insects. They are also referred to as Dagger flies, because of that sharp piercing mouthpart, seen here below it's bright red eyes. 2-image handheld stack.

I know that the cracks in this asphalt appeared before the plants poked their green stems up to the sunlight. However, I do appreciate how small plants will appear through concrete sidewalks and asphalt. The roots of the plant will take advantage of existing microscopic cracks. New cell growth takes place at the tips of plant roots. As the root system grows and develops, these tips act as feelers, seeking out the path of least resistance for expansion.

Did you know that Pine Siskins can survive in very cold temperatures? The metabolic rates of this species are typically 40% higher than a "normal" songbird. When temperatures plunge as low as -70 degrees C or -94 degrees F, they can accelerate that rate up to five times normal for several hours! (CornellLab)

Many may not know that Oregon has an expansive desert region. This playa is known as the Alvord desert in the southeast corner of the State. It's funny to visit here because while there may be others on the desert floor camping, you certainly feel all alone, hence the name of the image (plus, it's a great Crowded House song). Though the second night we were there some stooge was throwing some kind of rave or something and sound can really carry on that playa. Gr.

The playa is interesting, photographically, but you really need something great in the sky too or your image will just not be that great. We had planned to camp a few nights. The first night's sunset was a strikeout, plain open skys. The sunrise the next morning, also a bust. Nothing at all in the sky.

The next night we were on the other side of the Steens Mountains as the sun was starting to go down. I was not that worried about it because I did not expect any clouds. And then... Crap. There they were, but we were on the wrong side of the mountain. Time to scurry.

We took off as fast as possible to get to the other side so we could capture the sunset on the playa with clouds. We made it, but just barely, in fact, that cool wisp of dust in the background was our dust, trying to get the car out of the frame. I was glad though, it added a lot to the image.

The next morning, BTW, nothing. No clouds at all. Glad we scurried.

Let me know what you think.

See now I know what you're all thinking... "Here we go, another Gerbera from Karen" But there is a sweet little story to go with this one :p

Before I took the last pink Gerbera shot, I looked everywhere for a bright red one and couldnt find one anywhere....

Last week my wonderful daughter came home with a huge bunch of flowers for me, full of red Gerbera. She got them for me so I could take the shots I wanted in the first place, bless her!

I wasn't going to post any of them yet (was gonna give you all a rest) but she keeps asking when am I going to put her flower shots on... So there you go!!!

I don't know why, but when I took this picture I had this song stuck in my head. Childhood memories of calm summer mornings, eating breakfast and listen to the birds chirping outside 💞

Morning has broken - Cat Stevens

Morning has broken like the first morning

Blackbird has spoken like the first bird

Praise for the singing

Praise for the morning

Praise for them springing fresh from the Word

Sweet the rain's new fall, sunlit from heaven

Like the first dew fall on the first grass

Praise for the sweetness of the wet garden

Sprung in completeness where His feet pass

Mine is the sunlight

Mine is the morning

Born of the One Light Eden saw play

Praise with elation, praise every morning

God's recreation of the new day

Morning has broken like the first morning

Blackbird has spoken like the first bird

Praise for the singing

Praise for the morning

Praise for them springing fresh from the Word

"I'd love to know

how the trees in your yard behaved

When you were born,

whether the air was thick

and whether it was about to rain.

Maybe I was

young tree in your garden,

from there I know you so well ..

#50 - 100 x challenge - Lensbaby

These pretty and unusual flowers were in my flower delivery a couple of weeks ago and are only just showing signs of wilting. I wanted to get a photo before they finish completely. They are called ornithogalum (thank goodness they are prettier than their name!)

The lace is a scarf I bought in Bruges a few years ago, the charms on the frame are part of the scarf. I always like to bring something home to remember my travels...when I used to travel!

Lensbaby Velvet 56...I know the Velvet isn't really made for flat lay style but I still like the glow it gives.

Halfway through my 100 x challenge.

I know it's been awhile.. But we have been busy..We are setting in Richmond VA heading out in the morning to Laredo TX... After my sons wedding I hope to be back up and commenting on all your beautiful photos.... Have a great weekend...deb

Everybody knows Green Day.

Green Day is an american rock band formed in the east bay of California in 1987 by lead vocalist and guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong and bassist and backing vocalist Mike Dirnt. For much of the band's career, they have been a trio with drummer Tré Cool, who replaced John Kiffmeyer in 1990. Wikipedia.

I don't like this band but it is the name that I needed :-)

The Lower Rhein or Niederrhein I just recently discovered is not lower than sea level it is just saturated with a high water table and much flooding, but with flooding comes rich silt that acts as an organic fertilizer for those that farm the flood plains.

Pictured here is the real star of mankind moving out of the Medieval times and into todays prosperous age, the horse, pictured here the Draught Horse breed to be heavily muscled and stout to pull the plow without slipping or injury .

Two further innovations the horse collar and the shoe in the 11th century allowed for better plowing which supported population increase in Europe of about 30% this in turn put people in closer proximity in the villages and cities which in turn increased disease opportunities which in the 14th centaur resulted in all the population gains being wiped out by Black Plague.

The farmers in this region worked under a manor system where a landowner would have several hundred acres of land and would found a manor house, church and pastor and then populate the holdings with farmers that would build a house and work several acres each to support themselves,

the lord of the manor and the church but not in this order.

I took this with my D750 and Tamron SP 24-70mm 2.8 G2 Lens at 70mm 1/25, f/11 ISO 100 processed in LR, Topaz Denoise, PS (Lumenzia curves masks and DXO Nik Color Efex)

Disclaimer: Not trying to be realistic in my editing there is enough realism in the world, my style is a mix of painterly and romanticism as well as a work in progress.

I know this is a photo of the fall, but I spotted it in my archives from this year, and I just had to post it! I really liked the fence railing. I had stopped at this particular spot because they have a real beautiful barn; but as it turned out, the barn photos didn't turn out very well...but I really liked this random fence! Hope y'all like it as well!
