I used a Cokin ND filter to slow down the shutter speed,
I now have a lee Pro glass ND and holder so there sould be less colours cast on my newer images.
Something a bit more "...tame & domestic...", I'm afraid.
This picturesque little loch, on the fringes of the well-to-do village of Kilmacolm, Renfrewshire, is well-known to photographers. It's charms are somewhat faux, however, as it was created just over a hundred years ago by local anglers.
Another archive shot from earlier this year of this beautiful little loch...

Just outside the village of Kilmacolm, Scotland sits Knapps Loch. The surrounding hills mean it traps low temperatures and as the sun begins to rise mist forms over the loch making it a favourite place for early morning photographers. People have lived on the banks of the loch since the Stone Age, shown through recent archaeological discoveries.
Sunday evening at Knapps Loch, just outside Kilmacolm.
I don't know if it's actually true but someone told me Kilmacolm has more millionaires per head of population than anywhere else in Scotland. When I was there I mostly just saw ducks and a swan.
This picture was taken this morning, the previous shot was taken 3 days ago at roughly the same time of morning about a half mile up the river. I didn't touch the hues on either of these and it just shows how different the color can be on any given day. I just happen to stumble upon this location by accident after a short drive to some of my usual locations. The old pilings made for a nice foreground especially because they don't move unlike sailboats during long exposures. When I got here the sky was very bland and I wasn't expecting anything special but about 20 minutes before sunrise the color started up and ended up being a big bonus.
A trio of UP GEs bring a North Platte to Altoona manifest eastbound along the original Chicago & Northwestern at Knapp, Wisconsin. The rolling terrains is barely visible in the snow showers on this early March day.
I took a 5 minute trip to the my local dam a couple of days ago, once I got there I had a shot immediately in mind but the clouds were moving too quickly for it to work.
Closer towards last light I set up the panoramic gear on my tripod, and as the water was relatively choppy, stuck on my 6 stop ND filter, along with a 0.9 soft grad as the shadows were getting pretty dark in the foreground.
It all worked out not too badly, I think this was done with either 5 or 6 shots of 20 seconds each.

I'll be back to the summer chronology soon but figured I'd put up an oldie just for kicks. In the good old days I would run the numbers of all CNW's road power through the UP car trace and see if there was anything nearby. I suspect this was one of those times. A westbound manifest grinds up Knapp Hill on the Adams line behind a CNW and an SP SD. It was a good time for variety on the UP. May 9, 1998.

LATE BREAKING NEWS
It's just been pointed out to me that I've adhered to the rules of photography by providing a definite lead-in to the picture. Sorry about that .. it wasn't deliberate and I promise I won't do it again! If you spot any other instances of rule adherence, for God's sake let me know and I'll delete the shot immediately ..
More shots from our birthday trip round local haunts ... lovely Wiltshire scenery, wildflowers, and some demonic looking sheep!

This is one of my favorite bridges so far. Way out in the middle of nowhere, very high above the creek and bordered by a beautiful farm and homestead.

That is the Swedish what3words address to the gingerbread factory where these ginger thins, or pepparkakor were made. And they have been baking them for nearly a century.
