Klenteng Welahan ~Temple of Welahan
It's named Klenteng 'Hian Thian Siang Tee' or HTST. Placed in village/sub-district Welahan, Jepara Regency. About 1 km from my home.
It was one of the oldest Chinese temple in Indonesia.
there are many legend about it. It said that it has connection with Sam Poo Kong, have some ancient heirlooms form Chinese dinasty or even ever mentioned by RA Kartini (our national hero for women emansipation) in her famous letter to Mrs. Abendanon.
I don't really know about whether is it all true or not. I'm not yet dare enough to interview the temple's guard and yeah I ever try to read Kartini's Letters: "Habis gelap terbitlah terang", but found it very difficult to understood for its different era of language style. Would try to read it again if I have time and enough patience~ :p
Well, I think, I was ever talk about shoots Klenteng (Temple) with Kang Zudi.
By that time I was lack of confident to do it, since I affraid to disturb their religious activity or perhaps they would not like me to be around in their worship place.
But one day when I pass this place, it was quite empty. I saw no human or guard.
So I quickly shoot it, and go. Hehe. Still not dare enough to talk with its guard. They (or maybe me myself) seems fierce! hehe o:-)
And then couple weeks ago Mbak Uchi was upload Cheng Ho Mosque which its architecture is seems like a Klenteng. It temp me to upload this! ^^;;

Wah, pasti bagus tuh!
Tapi.... sayang sekali.... karena hari Jum'at kemarin saya kecapaian, pagi tadi saya bangun kesiangan!!
*gak perlu disebut jamnya deh, malu-maluin banget soalnya* ^^;;
Minimal buat ganti baju *mandinya??
Duh... tambah menyesal deh saya!!
According to the notes kept by the Temple manager, the Prabha Buddhist temple was started to build on 15 August 1900 and was completed in 1907 for the efforts of a former Chinese major named Yap Ping Liem, on land grants given in 1845 by Kraton Ngayogyakarta Hadiningrat during the reign of Sultan Hamengku Buwono V who ruled for the second time from 1828 to 1855. The grant was intended to build a house of worship for the Chinese people who settled in Yogyakarta.
Initially the name of this temple building is Hok Tik Bio, a devotional place for Hok Tik Sin which the Chinese believed to be the Earth God. However, in the new Order era, the Chinese temple name was renamed to Prabha Buddhist temple. Because at that time there were only five official religions recognized by the government, so that Buddhist elements remained allowed to be used.

Well, as I said before, in the next village of my place, there is an old famous temple or vihara called Klenteng 'Hian Thian Siang Tee' or HTST.
Each year, this temple celebrate its anniversary along with Cheng Beng celebration.
This year, its celebration start at night before March 22, and end at April 22.
At night before March 22, there were held traditional folk show such as: Kuda Lumping, Reog, and comedy show in south klenteng.
Then at March 22 noon, they held a carnaval to bring the sacred heritages from the north klenteng to south klenteng. I don't know how is the real pronunciation of it, but in our javanese tongue the heritages is called 'topekong'.
They let this sacred heritages stay in south temple for a month.
Every night during those month they held a Tiong Hoa Puppet show called "Wayang Petehi" in front the south temple, in which on the night 1 and 15, they mixed it with Javanese Gamelan and Warenggono, as I show in my previous upload.
After a month, in April 22, they held a carnaval again to bring back the sacred heritages from south temple to the north temple.
During those carnaval, there are Lion dance or we called 'Liang-liong', and Barongsai showed.
It was a crowded day!
People were coming from many different towns!
I missed the March 22 carnaval, but thank God, I am free at April 22.
I watch it, and burned by sun on it! It was indeed a hot day!
