@knux400 asked on the Stud.io Discord if the texture would get stretched on something like a sword. Yes it will (first image). But you can adjust the scaling so it will work (second image). However, you will need 3 versions of the material, one for tall & thin, one for boxy and one for wide & thin.

Gravity helped modify this and gave me the opportunity to really puzzle it together and add a homage to the Japanese art of Kintsugi.

This Yin Yang pair of OOAK art dolls is a concept me and my friend Naomi have been planning for years. They are inspired by the Japanese art of kintsugi, mending broken pottery with gold. The albino twin will be hers and I will get to keep the dark resin beauty to bind our friendship together forever.
This project has given me strength to get through this horrible year, so full of loss, fear and missed opportunities. Kintsugi reminds me that we are not broken. We can learn and grow from our negative experiences, and become better people for it.

Kintsugi (Japanese for golden joinery) is the Japanese art of fixing broken pottery with a lacquer resin sprinkled with powdered gold.
"When the Japanese mend broken objects, they aggrandize the damage by filling the cracks with gold. They believe that when something's suffered damage and has a history, it becomes more beautiful."

Ken’ichiro Taniguchi: Scheuren als herinnering aan de geschiedenis van de stad
Rond de millenniumwisseling maakte de Japanse kunstenaar Ken’ichiro Taniguchi (1976) voor het eerst voor een hecomi. Hecomi is Japans voor spleet of scheur. Overal in wegen, vloeren en muren zijn ze te vinden. Doorgaans negeren we dergelijke tekenen van veroudering. Sterker nog: we proberen ze te dichten of weg te schilderen. Taniguchi niet. Voortbordurend op de Japanse Kintsugi-techniek, waarbij gebroken keramiek wordt gerepareerd en goudstof in de lijm de geschiedenis accentueert, spoort Taniguchi over de hele wereld scheuren en barsten in steden op en maakt hij hun prachtige structuren zichtbaar. Een-op-een zet hij ze om in knalgele kunststof om daar vervolgens weer sculpturen van te bouwen. Zo legt Taniguchi niet alleen veranderingen in ons stedelijk weefsel vast, maar laat hij tegelijkertijd een plattegrond van een nieuwe stad, een nieuwe wereld ontstaan. Speciaal voor 38CC heeft Taniguchi ook hecomi in Delft gezocht. En wel in het Doelenkwartier waar in 1654 de grote kruitexplosie plaatsvond die een deel van de binnenstad verwoestte. Hij trof de hecomi in die buurt aan in de Choorstraat 53 en in de steeg tussen de Schutterstraat en het Rietveld. Of deze terug te voeren zijn op die ramp, is de vraag. Maar het zet je wel aan het denken over alle veranderingen die er in de loop van de tijd in onze steden plaatsvinden. Dan merk je pas hoe sterk heden en verleden met elkaar vervlochten zijn.
