It was also used in the movies Crossroads and True Confessions.
It is actually called The Sanctuary Adventist Church and before that it was the Calvary Baptist Church.

Convict Lake and Creek are so named as the result of an AMBUSH encounter here on September 17, 1871, after a group of inmates escaped from prison in Carson City, Nevada. Sheriff George Hightower eventually caught up with the convicts and a shoot out took place. Robert Morrison a Benton Merchant, Mono Jim and other posse members encountered the convicts on the present Convict Creek, then known as Monte Diablo Creek. In the encounter Morrison and Mono Jim were killed and the convicts escaped to be captured later in Round Valley. The towering peak above the lake was re-named Mt. Morrison and the smaller one below it Mono Jim. It's been 7 weeks since our Red Maine coon cat Eddie disappeared from our home and it broke our hearts we have not been able to find him. living in the countryside with open fields all round I'm afraid he may have been shot or killed somehow. We haven't been able to trace him even though we hired a tracking dog to scent trail him. We miss him terribly and wish it could be a different story. To help us mend our hearts and give Casper our other cat a friend , meet Deedee. She is a little star and is the size of a teacup, haha here she is playing kill the toy which I swear is the size of a mouse. She will be a hunter just what you need when you live on an old farm. I could not resist a kitten shot of her playing .

It is early in the morning, and early in a hike that will take a few hours to complete. It has warmed up a little...not the air itself, just me and my body heat, already cooking with exertion. Crossing the kill, I didn't want to stop, but I knew I had to. In this area of New York, originally settled by the Dutch, a stream or channel is a kill, and so that is the appendage of this brook, the Batavia. My eyes follow the water upstream, against the tide, to a single point where it disappears into mystery. The colder air draws slightly warmer water into vapor, and vapor into ice, and it coats random branches and surfaces. Why some, and not others, is a question too big to answer on a scale this small. It will be hours before the sun hits the water, if at all, in it’s low winter track, and right now only low ambient light from above illuminates the flow as it slaloms the edges of darkness, in a deep crease of forest. I am heading towards nothing but a point on the map, a new mountain for me. The unknown will part like a curtain as I go, revealing itself forever. Every destination is stamped in my head, for better or worse, and if I return to them, it is to run from darkness, instead of towards it. They are points of refuge, escapes to be attempted when the confines of my life kills start to overwhelm. Those kills have edges too, some sharp some rounded and too well-worn, products of too much thinking on those borders of darkness. I move on across, taking a last look up to where the edges intersect into the woods.

In what was, by then, a rare-mileage move for the Batten Kill, Alco RS-3 #4116 brings a long cut of spine cars west across Skellie Road near East Greenwich on the line between Greenwich Junction and Greenwich. This was back when the truss bridge over the Batten Kill River and State Route 372 in Greenwich was still in service, and the Batten Kill stored these spine cars west of Greenwich on the line to Thomson. The plan on this particular afternoon was to bring the cars to Greenwich, run around them, and then shove them towards Thomson. If that had happened, it would have been the one and only time I caught them on that section. Unfortunately, however, they derailed in the middle of the woods a bit west of here...

"Palestinian women in the Gaza Strip have been “denied the conditions needed to live and to give life safely” by Israel amid its genocidal war on the enclave, according to Amnesty International, a global rights group.
Amnesty warned on Tuesday that women and girls in Gaza have been pushed “to the brink” as the Israeli war has spurred a series of hardships, from mass displacement to the destruction of the local healthcare system.
Pregnant women, as well as those who need treatment for cancer and other illnesses, have been particularly hard-hit by the lack of adequate health services in the territory, Amnesty said in a statement.
“This systematic erosion of their rights to health, safety, dignity and a future is not an unfortunate by-product of war; it is a deliberate act of war targeting women and girls,” the group said.
“It is also the foreseeable consequence of Israel’s calculated policies and practices of multiple mass displacement, deliberate restrictions on basic and essential items, as well as humanitarian relief, and two years of relentless bombardment that have devastated Gaza’s health system and decimated entire families.”
More than 72,000 Palestinians have been killed since Israel’s war on Gaza began in October 2023.
Israeli attacks have continued despite a US-brokered “ceasefire” that came into effect in October of last year, killing more than 600 people, according to the latest figures from the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza."
