Queensland Police Service, Kia Stinger GT, in use as a highway patrol vehicle, specifically within its Road Policing Command.

The Queensland Police Service recently became the first law enforcement agency in the world to use the Kia Stinger as an operational intercept and road command vehicle. It replaces what has been historically the role of the now-extinct Holden Commodore and Ford Falcon.

The Kia Stinger is the first non-Australian car to be used as a highway patrol vehicle in Queensland.

This has only been driven 160 miles between the last two MOTs.

2019 Kia XCeed at Chalon sur Saone

The Kia Joice was sold in Europe between 2000 and 2003. Although probably not recognisable at first sight it's based on the second generation of the Mitsubishi Chariot/Space Wagon, also built by Hyundai as Santamo. After the take-over of Kia by Hyundai the Santamo was redesigned and marketed as the Kia Joice.

This generation of the Kia Optima was sold here from 2015 until 2019. This one is in use by the armed forces of the Netherland. Cars of the ministry of Defense use the combination DM on their license plates.

Kia has transformed its brand and its lineup in rapid succession--first with the Soul and Forte, then with the Sorento and Optima. In the 2012 model year, it was the subcompact Rio's turn, and in another successful reinvention, the small sedan and hatchback are a magnitude better than the vehicles they replaced.

Chinese name: 起亚K2 (qǐyà K2)

Year of launch: 2016

The second generation Kia K2 was launched in November 2016, succeeding the successful old model, which has the size of the Kia Rio, but is only offered in China and Russia, in the latter market as Kia Rio, where it one of the most popular cars on the market. Kia once again offers a sedan and hatchback, but the hatchback now comes with a rugged 'cross' look as standard and is named Kia KX Cross.

"The fog is an illusion,

A master of disguise,

Which hides the tangible

Before our very eyes...

It gives an air of mystery

That has long prevailed.

Dangerously intriguing

Is the fog's foggy veil."

.:: Poem (Partial) © Walterrean Salley ::.

A foggy morning in Upper Normandy.

Étretat is a very picturesque town surrounded by steep chalk cliffs (falaises), including 3 stunning natural arches. Despite the reduced visibility, the most famous of the arches (La Porte d'Aval) and the pointed "needle" were breath-taking. The Falaise d’Aval looks as an elephant dipping his trunk into the sea. Standing next to it is l'Aiguille Creuse (Hollow Needle), made famous by Maurice Leblanc. The French novelist created the character of Arsène Lupin, the Gentleman Thief and set his legendary refuge inside the Needle.

Some spots on the 2nd day of our drive through Germany and the Czech Republic.

Kia Stinger at Vaduz

It's Kia's most expensive and most luxurious model. At about $61,000 it offers AWD and a twin-turbo V6 engine that produces 365 hp.

Sadly, this represents 25% of the color choices. It seems to be offered only in white, black and two shades of grey. Why not a dark blue?

Place: Yangshuo County, Guilin, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region

Chinese name: 起亚千里马 (qǐyà qiānlǐmǎ)

Year of launch: 2002

The first generation Hyundai Accent (sold as Excel in Europe, Pony in France) was produced by Dongfeng Yueda Kia in China from December 2002 to November 2006 as Kia Qianlima, after the shipment of toolings and technology of the old model to China. It was succeeded by the second generation Kia Rio. It sold very well, with 66,298 units in 2005 which is a lot to 2005-standards. Competitors included the Ford Fiesta sedan, Buick Sail/Chevrolet Sail, Fiat Siena/Perla, FAW Vela (=Toyota Platz/Echo), Suzuki Lingyang (Swift/Cultus sedan) and the likes.

It was revamped in 2005 (pictured) and discontinued in 2006.
