It's not exactly a kavad. More like an altarpiece? I'm not sure yet.

The interior of the Kavad on the west front, with both of the doors fully opened.

Now that the physical kavad is built, I've decided to decorate the box to show its storytelling potential. The first step is to use sharpie markers to create frames for the various parts of the story.

It's a bit challenging because I keep getting wrapped up in issues of number and form whenever I think about frame.

Now that the physical kavad is built, I've decided to decorate the box to show its storytelling potential. The first step is to use sharpie markers to create frames for the various parts of the story.

It's a bit challenging because I keep getting wrapped up in issues of number and form whenever I think about frame.

As I mentioned earlier, here are the scales of three, four and five. Three will be the Druidic elements (stone, breath and fire, I think?), the archangelic elements, five is the number elements in sorcery from Jason Miller.

Oh, and the weird white stuff in some of the 'scene windows'? Yeah, that's white-out, to block the duct tape out of the windows, so I can ink them.

Another side of the kavad, frames in progress. Remember this is a prototype - perfection neither wanted nor expected.

Here again is the sketch up model of the kavad, which is helping me think through how I'm going to cut foam board (or wood!) in order to build this design. As I've said elsewhere, I think that the internal parts will be a bit more complicated to design in Sketchup, but the model is helping me understand how the different pieces are going to fit together...

I can't find Jason miller's book at the moment, so I can't remember if Azoth is all white or all black. It's hard to correct foamboard, so I'll assume white for the moment.
