High on a rock you find the dramatic castle Yeni Kale (New Fortress) perched on a vertiginous crag. This fine castle is a 13-th Mamluk fortification. Closed since 2005 for restoration and it is likely to remain closed for a while longer, as the leader of the works died when he fell of the edge after missing his footing.

I love these perky flowers and would never have thought to pair them with ruffly kale, but the complementary texture works.

I think the Ornamental Kale makes a wonderful showy plant in your garden late in season. As you can see their leaves begin to color up in the fall as the nighttime temp drops.

Image taken with iPhone 7, to capture the beauty of morning dew or raindrops on the purple and green leaves of ornamental kale in my garden.
An image of a kale with a close-up view of its curly, vibrant green leaves with intricate, ruffled edges. The green of the leaves gives a fresh, crisp appearance. The back- and foreground are softly blurred to emphasize the kale, with natural light streaming in, creating a soft glow highlighting the textures and veins of the leaves.

In the Medieval Times, Chufut-Kale was a powerful city fortress in the Crimean Mountains. Today it's in ruins. Chufut-Kale is an official monument of the Crimean Karaite culture. The scientists/historians aren't really sure about the exact date when the city was founded. By rough estimations, it used to be a heavily fortified settlement in the 6th or even 5th century and was a part of the Byzantine Empire.
