Last harvest from my garden. Even the stems get used.

The same species as the kale used as a food,

ornamental kale is edible to humans, though it may not taste as good as kale more traditionally used for food.

Have a great new week, everyone!

Thanks to everyone who takes the time to view, comment or fave this image.

common names: ornamental cabbage, flowering kale,

binomial name: Brassica oleracea var. acephala f. tricolor

Ornamental kale is a fabulous ornamental because it lasts longer than just about anything in the garden. It even survives a few frosts. Although edible, it's bitter and used more as a garnish.

Thank you for viewing and for leaving me a comment! Have a wonderful day!

Still growing on the allotment.

Baking it with the lightest dusting of salt and sugar is my favourite way of cooking it, tastes delicious!

Kale, called here Galician cabbage, must be the most grown green in the country, Porto Salvo

(35/365) This will have to do for photos today, I'm recovering from cataract surgery this morning and still woozy from the anesthetic. It is a decorative kale plant for 119 pictures in 2019 #83 "plants in pots".

This year instead of flowers I grew vegetables in the containers on my porch. This is some of the kale that I grew with seeds from the dollar store. Trying for simplicity and to show off the beautiful curls.

Home made tomato/lentil soup with kale, kale chips and kale salad.
