So, I went to Florida with my D3s and caught two sunrises..
This is the first of quite a few pictures from the trip that I love. Totally SOOC, I couldn't mess with those gorgeous colors.
I'll be checking out streams today, I'm free most of the day! :)
There are some better and some worse to come, I just felt like this was the best starting point. Oh, and that whole winter thing? Yeah, it doesn't exist there. This trip also made me realize that 70-200mm isn't all that long. This was at 200 from pretty close to the water...
The sky was conflicted this morning. I drove through three different weather systems during the 20 minute drive between Port St. Lucie and Jupiter, encountering pounding rain, thunder and lightning. And as the first glow of sunrise lit up the sky to the south, the sky remained dark and stormy facing north.
Still, it felt great to be out this morning and spending time with my photographic muse - the Juno Beach Pier.

For a flotation device, this boat has a lot of holes in it, but the lifeguards on Juno Beach must have some use for it. It sits right at the base of one of the lifeguard towers on the beach.

At Sunrise, a man stands in shallow water near Juno Beach Pier, casting his line into the ocean as a Pelican attempts to get the bait.
At the first crack of light, the Juno Beach pier opens it gates - and dozens of fisherman have already cast their lines before sunrise. And, they catch a lot of fish.

Pre-sunrise colors cast a colorful glow over Juno Beach and the pier this morning. After a stormy night last night I was all but certain sunrise would be promising ... ironically the best colors happened twenty minutes before the sun crested the horizon, and the colors had long fizzled out before then.

Yesterday I was flying my drone when a crow flew by the drone with a baby sea turtle. Crow got spooked and dropped the turtle on the grass. Took hime to the beach and released him back into the ocean.

Every day, people from every walk of life step onto the Juno Beach Pier with fishing rods in hand. Seasoned fishermen, tourists, immigrants, vagabonds, even a few of the rich people who live across the street. They all cast their rods & reels over the side of the pier, and very few seem to leave without catching a fish or two.

The Juno Beach pier is a 15-20 minute drive from home, and during the entire commute I could see lightning cracks ignite the sky over the ocean. It's amazing how fast storms move in and out here in Florida though, and while the lightning subsided - these dark, ominous skies accentuated sunrise over the pier.
