The session, moderated by Matteo Craglia (ITF), takes place during the International Transport Forum's 2023 Summit on "Transport Enabling Sustainable Economies" in Leipzig, Germany on 24 May 2023.
Please mark your calendars for our Spring Bread and Cheese Creek which will be are largest cleanup to date! These photos show the current sad condition of this historic stream. We plan to clean up Bread and Cheese Creek form the Berkshire section to North Point Road on Saturday, April 5, 2014 at 8:00 AM - 2:00 PM, All the assistance from volunteers and sponsor is greatly appreciated! We know this is a huge section of stream to tackle but I know we can do it!
This cleanup will be in conjunction with the Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay’s Project Clean Stream and it will be our fifth year working with them! This cleanup will also be in conjunction with American Rivers. We will supply trash bags, gloves, water, snacks and lunch. A limited supply of waders and tools will also be available for sign out during the cleanup.
Remember, there plenty of ways for volunteers to participate. We will need every type of person of every ability level to contribute and assist with the Clean Up. Though it is true we will need people to dig out shopping carts and haul trash to the dumpsters, we can use people to run water, food, tools, and trash bags (both empty and full) to individuals in the creek. People to sort recyclables from the debris removed. People will be needed to work the grills as well as many other less strenuous activities. We are also authorized to sign-off on Community Service and Service Learning Hours for students. The more people we have, the easier the work will be for everyone. Please feel free to pass this information on to other who might be interesting in helping as well. As my grandfather always said, "Many hands makes the work light". We run our cleanups as a family event with all age groups welcome by developing plenty of ways for volunteers to participate.
Our cleanups are part of an ongoing effort clean the entire stream by the 2014 bicentennial celebration of War of 1812 Bicentennial Celebration. (Bread and Cheese Creek has been noted as one of the highlighted location on the Star-Spangled Banner National Historic Trail) The creek played a rather significant part in the Battle of North Point which took place on September 12, 1814. Both the American and British Troops camped along its banks. It is rumored that the young heroes Daniel Wells (19) and Henry McComas (18) used the stream channel to sneak up on British General Robert Ross killing him with their muskets before being killed in return fire. This important part of our history should not be left the eyesore it currently is and those who died defending our country honored in this way.

The Scottish Parliament has voted to transform the way health and social care services are provided by passing “landmark” legislation this afternoon.
Ivy Benson joined Yorkshire-based six-piece band Edna Croudson's Rhythm Girls in 1929, touring with them until 1935,] after which she toured with various bands including Teddy Joyce and the Girlfriends where she became a featured soloist.] She moved to London in the late 1930s and formed her own band. Their first significant engagement was performing with the all-female revue Meet the Girls, which starred Hylda Baker.
During World War II, opportunities for female musicians opened up as many male musicians were enlisted into the armed forces.] The band became the BBC's resident dance band in 1943, and were top of the bill at the London Palladium for six months in 1944.[1] In 1945 the band were the first entertainers invited to perform at the VE Day celebrations in Berlin at the request of Field Marshal Montgomery, and on Christmas Day that year they performed for a live BBC Radio broadcast from Hamburg immediately after the King's speech.[ Benson and her band also toured Europe and the Middle East with the Entertainments National Service Association entertaining Allied troops, headlined variety theatres] and performed at the 1948 Summer Olympics in London.
Benson's band had a high turnover of musicians, as they frequently left to marry G.I.s they met while touring. She once commented, "I lost seven in one year to America. Only the other week a girl slipped away from the stage. I thought she was going to the lavatory but she went off with a G.I. Nobody's seen her since.
In the 1950s, she played summer seasons at Butlins holiday camps and Villa Marina on the Isle of Man.[1] She continued to lead the band until the early 1980s, adapting to changing tastes by adding pop tunes to the band's repertoire in the 1960s.] The band played for overseas-based servicemen until the 1970s. Towards the end of her career the band played mostly private functions as dance halls and variety theatres declined. The band disbanded in 1982 after a final performance at the Savoy Hotel, briefly reforming in 1983 for a performance on Russell Harty's television show to celebrate Benson's 70th birthday
In 1943 Benson appeared as herself with a speaking role in the feature film The Dummy Talks, which starred Jack Warner. She and the band were scheduled to take part in a BBC Television broadcast in 1946, but were forced to cancel 48 hours before they were due to go on air following a dispute with the Stoll Theatres Corporation, who she was contracted to. Stoll advised her that she faced a ban from their theatres, saying that they considered that television "will be a great detriment to the theatre.
Benson and the band appeared on the television series The Music Box in 1957. She was the subject of an episode of the UK tribute show This Is Your Life in 1976.
Benson married theatrical producer Caryll Stafford Clark in 1949; they were divorced in 1951. In 1957 she married Top Sergeant Brantley Callaway of the United States Air Force, whom she met while performing in a summer season on the Isle of Man. The marriage ended after she refused to accompany him when he returned to the United States in 1963 and they were divorced in 1964.An operation left her unable to have children.
Benson retired to the seaside resort of Clacton-on-Sea, Essex, occasionally entertaining local holidaymakers on the electric organ.[1] She suffered a heart attack at her home and died on 6 May 1993, aged 79.

In a meeting with the party workers of Bharatiya Janata party (BJP) and people of Indian origin Grewal firstly thanked everyone for inviting him to this historical country. Grewal said that these two ancient civilizations have known, interacted and traded with each other for over 2000 years. Modern day contacts between the two nations were formed through exchanges between the intellectuals from both sides. Noble Laureate Rabindranath Tagore visited Italy on invitation of Carlo Formichi, a Professor of Sanskrit at the University of Rome. Grewal praised indian community Residing in Italy and said there contribution in the country is huge .Italy is home to second largest community of Indians in Europe after UK. As per the latest Italian official estimates, more than 1, 60000 Indian nationals are resident in Italy. As first generation migrants, majority of them are engaged in economic sectors such as agriculture, dairy farming, leather industry, construction works and in service Industry. In meeting listening to the problems of People Grewal said that he is aware of the problems which NRI's face relating to property disputes in India and other cases and he assured that Bharatiya Janata party operates a NRI wing which deals with such problems faced by NRI's , this wing stays in touch with its members . He further stated that NRI thanas are opened in punjab which has Bharatiya Janata party in power, He urged Indians in Italy and across the world to join Bharatiya Janata party and contribute further in the growth and development of your country. Grewal said that the United Nations also declared June 21 as the World Yoga Day. The decision, taken at the UN General Assembly, is being seen as a proud moment for India. Talking with the media persons after BJP workers meeting here today Grewal stated that our Hon'ble Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi had urged the world community to celebrate Indian yoga at the international level during his visit to the United Nations in September this year. Grewal told here that India received support of 170 nations and United Nations declare June 21 as the World Yoga Day. He stated that in their speech at the UNGA, Hon'ble Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi had said, "Let us work towards adopting an International Yoga Day. Yoga is an invaluable gift of our ancient tradition. It is not about exercise but to discover the sense of oneness with yourself, the world and the nature." He told that around 170 nations supported PM Modi's proposal. In November, European Union President Mr. Herman Van Rompuy told Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi that the 28 member EU supported his idea for a Yoga Day at the UN. Grewal said that about four months ago, Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi had appealed to the world community that India's yoga should be celebrated as World Yoga Day. Grewal said that I am happy to inform you that India have received support of 170 nations and the United Nations will declare June 21 as the World Yoga Day". Grewal told that Yoga is the 5000 years old Indian physical, mental and spiritual practice that aims to transform body and mind for good health.
