The sunflower is native to the Central Americas. The evidence thus far is that it was first domesticated in Mexico, by at least 2600 BC. Many indigenous American peoples used the sunflower as the symbol of their solar deity, including the Aztecs and the Otomi of Mexico and the Incas in South America. Francisco Pizarro was the first European to encounter the sunflower in Tahuantinsuyo, Peru. Gold images of the flower, as well as seeds, were taken back to Spain early in the 16th century. Some researchers argue that the Spaniards tried to suppress cultivation of the sunflower because of its association with solar religion and warfare.

Netherlands - Volendam - Popular tourist attraction in the Netherlands, well-known for its old fishing boats and the traditional clothing still worn by some residents
The Markermeer is a 700 km2 (270 sq mi) lake in the central Netherlands in between North Holland, Flevoland and its larger sibling, the IJsselmeer. A shallow lake at some 3 to 5 m in depth, it is named after the small former island, now peninsula, of Marken that lies within it. The southwest side of the lake that begins where the IJ once emptied into the Zuiderzee is known as the IJmeer. The Markermeer was not originally intended to remain a lake. It used to be part of the Zuiderzee, a saltwater inlet of the North Sea, that was dammed off by the Afsluitdijk (Closure Dike) in 1932, turning the Zuiderzee into the freshwater IJsselmeer. The following years saw the reclamation of extensive tracts of land as large polders in a massive project known as the Zuiderzee Works.

Maybe the last of these for awhile, until next time of course. This refuge is my favorite place to photograph, you never know what you will find. Last year it was the Willets, next year who knows.

Ponta da Piedade is a headland to the south of Lagos, surrounded by fascinating rock formations in crystal clear seas. The sandy coves of Praia de Dona Ana and Praia do Camilo are sheltered and tucked away between high sandstone cliffs. The crystal clear water and the rock bridges and grottoes make this a fascinating place to explore. There are steps cut into the cliffs for access
Lagos, itself an attractive town with a new marina area, also contains historical buildings worth taking a look at, and its fortifications date back to the 8th Century in places.

I spotted this coupled pair of scarlet mormons (Papilio rumanzovia), also known as the red mormon, hanging from a leaf quite high up at my local butterfly house.
Fortunately, I had the (Sigma) 180mm lens now which offers much better reach than what I can achieve with the 100mm. Thus, I extended both sections of the tripod legs as much as the could and raised the center column to the max and was able to capture these through the leaves and vines hanging from the ceiling at pretty much level height.

Well I have finally meet my doom, I have been told over and over again not to drink and drive. many small accidents have come and gone, nothing really to talk about they all started in my teens little bity fender benders (just something to giggle about) no one hurt, no big deal! Well my faith is sealed !!! I just had maybe one too many awwe what could it hurt I was always use to having a few after working a long grueling day...
HEY!!! I deserved it! What was 3 or 4 maybe 5 vodka and tonics ... RIGHT!!! I missed the light ran the red and thank God missed the car in the intersection and hit a pole - put my arm in front of me to save my face - but hear I heard i severed my arm that resulted in my doom.... well purgatory for me - I was told - you know the one - EXACTLY like Bryn Oh's ironing Angels wings like for ever - Thank the Lord for the Deadmore's they offered me this room a chair and a cage - well it is better than ironing - right? joined a “Meet Up” group and participated in a downtown or midtown walking tour of the Wide Open Walls Mural project (Sacramento, CA). This was a great photo opportunity to look at some pretty cool mural art done by talented local artists. I think I walked about 5 miles this day with the Plus One in her carrier backpack. I certainly got my exercise in carrying a 8lb single weight.

Hagia Sophia was first named "Megale Ekklesia" (The Great Church) as it was the largest church in Constantinople (Istanbul today). The historian Socrates indicated that the church was named Sophia during the reign of Emperor Constantius. The name given to the church symbolized the second divine attribute of the Holy Trinity. Originally, Sophia, which means "Holy Wisdom", was a name given to Christ by 4th century theologians. For centuries it stood at the heart of two of the world's great religions: To Christians it was Hagia Sophia, Church of the Holy Wisdom, mother church of the Orthodox faith, and of the thousand year old Byzantine Empire. To Muslims, it became Ayasofya Camii, Mosque of Holy Wisdom and jewel of Istanbul. Today its one of the two most important Museums in Turkey.
As for this shot, it is all about location !! When choosing hotel in Istanbul I made sure that at least one blue hour (particularly the morning one) could be taken from a place as close to the hotel as possible. At the end this shot was taken from the hotel's top terrace, therefore I only had to go 2 floors up. I only wish all morning blue hour shoots would be so easy, plus that delicious breakfast with such a view after I finished with the photography was just an added bonus.

The Hungarian Parliament Building (Hungarian: Országház, literally country house) is the seat of the National Assembly of Hungary, one of Europe's oldest legislative buildings, a notable landmark of Hungary and a popular tourist destination of Budapest. It lies in Lajos Kossuth Square, on the bank of the Danube, in Budapest. It is currently the largest building in Hungary. Similar to the Palace of Westminster, the Parliament Building is in the Gothic Revival style; it has a symmetrical facade and a central dome. It is 268 m (879 ft) long and 123 m (404 ft) wide. Its interior includes 10 courtyards, 13 passenger and freight elevators, 27 gates, 29 staircases and 691 rooms (including more than 200 offices). With its height of 96 m (315 ft), it is one of the two tallest buildings in Budapest, along with Saint Stephen's Basilica. The number 96 refers to the nation's millennium, 1896, and the conquest of the later Kingdom of Hungary in 896. The main façade faces the River Danube, but the official main entrance is from the square in front of the building. Inside and outside, there are altogether 242 sculptures on the walls.

One of six photos taken on my afternoon walk from my condo to Humber Bay Shores Park, ending at the Arched bridge across the Humber Bay River and back home. It took just over an hour, the sun was very hot but there was some relief from breezes wafting over Lake Ontario. Best seen large by clicking on the photo. I added an Icarus filter to this photo.
"The Humber Bay Arch Bridge (also known as the Humber River Arch Bridge, the Humber River Pedestrian Bridge or The Gateway Bridge) is a pedestrian and bicycle through arch bridge south of Lake Shore Boulevard West in Toronto, Canada" - Wikipedia
