On Saturday, November 15, Monterey joined the nationwide protest of the passing of Proposition 8 in California. The event began at 10:30 AM at Colton Hall, the birthplace of the California Constitution and concluded in a march through downtown Monterey to Window on the Bay.
In 1849, California’s first constitutional convention was held at Colton Hall in Monterey, California. This historic landmark is now the oldest continually used municipal building in California.

We teamed up with Joining Hearts, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing housing support to people living with HIV and AIDS in Atlanta, to host the charity's annual Valentine's Day themed, Love on the Rocks event at our Atlanta showroom on Sunday, February 8. The sold-out event was a huge success, raising nearly $25,000 from ticket sales and the silent auction! Thanks so much to the amazing community in Atlanta and all our friends that came out to support!

Army Reserve Soldiers joined, supported and connected with more than 10,000 participants in the Tough Mudder event held in Plymouth, Wis., 6-7 Sept.
Tough Mudder events are obstacle courses designed to test competitors’ all around strength, stamina, mental grit and camaraderie. Tough Mudder has hosted over one million participants worldwide to date, and raised more than $6 million for the Wounded Warrior Project.
The Army Reserve chose to sponsor Tough Mudder knowing that participants posses many of the same values and motivations as Soldiers to include resiliency, teamwork, the drive to excel and being part of something larger than themselves.

Secretary Landgraf joined keynote speaker Carol Graham, a military spouse and mother who lost two sons in the war – one to suicide and one in combat – at the 2015 Military and Veterans Mental Health Summit on Sept. 10 at the Chase Center.
Secretary Landgraf said of Delaware’s highest-profile efforts is coming together as a state to end homelessness among veterans. At any given point in Delaware, about 100 men and women who served our country are homeless. She also talked about the efforts across the spectrum to deal with addiction, PTSD, traumatic brain injury, serious and persistent mental illness and suicide among current military members, veterans and their families. “We must understand the landscape, be attuned to signs and symptoms, teach veterans about wellness and coping skills, and refer veterans and their families to appropriate services as needed.” “How many of us can be the next ones to listen when someone is ready to be heard?”
Carol Graham and her husband, Maj. Gen. Mark Graham, U.S. Army (Ret.) are outspoken advocates for both civilians and soldiers challenged by depression, PTSD, and traumatic brain injury. The Grahams lost their military son, Kevin, to suicide in June 2003. They lost their son, Jeff, in combat in Aghanistan in February 2004. Carol Graham says her husband says, “Both my sons died fighting different battles.” She told the hundreds of people in the audience that, “It just seemed that no one wanted to know about Kevin.”
“You could have put in a thimble what I knew about mental illness,” she said. But she learned. And with her husband, they were determined to “speak out for the other Kevins out there.”
Carol Graham said they learned that people who have suicidal ideation have three common factors: They perceive they are a burden, they believe they don’t fit in anymore, and they are desensitized to pain.
“I wasn’t listening and he gave me so many clues,” Carol Graham said of her son Kevin.
Finally, the summit presented the first Francis Graves Award of Excellence in Service to U.S. Veterans to Dr. Patrick Litle, a recovery advocate and administrator at the Wilmington VA Medical Center. Pvt. Francis Graves of Delaware took his own life died earlier this year.
