Chief Constable Stephen Watson joined hundreds of Mancunians attending the service of remembrance in the city centre yesterday (Sunday 12 November).
There was a short procession before the commemoration ceremony was held at the Cenotaph on St Peter’s Square.
Chief Superintendent Rick Jackson inspected the force's contingent marching in the parade.
Chief Constable Watson lay a wreath on behalf of the force onto the monument.
Deputy Chief Constable Terry Woods also attended, and the force's Band produced a moving performance in conjunction with military musicians.
Other dignitaries in attendance to pay their respects to the servicemen and women who have fallen in the line duty since the First World War included Lord Mayor of Manchester Councillor Yasmine Dar Greater, Manchester’s elected Mayor Andy Burnham, Lord-Lieutenant of Greater Manchester Diane Hawkins and the High Sheriff of Greater Manchester Mary-Liz Walker.
Other Remembrance Day services took place in cities, towns and villages across Greater Manchester.
The UK will fell silent at 11am as the country commemorated the servicemen and women who have fallen in the line duty since the First World War.

Visiting artist Joy Harjo joins Museum of Contemporary Craft Director Namita Gupta Wiggers in leading PNCA students through the exhibit "This Is Not A Silent Movie".
Pacific Northwest College of Art (PNCA) in collaboration with Museum of Contemporary Craft (MoCC) is honored to welcome celebrated author, activist, and musician Joy Harjo, who will deliver the 2014 Alfred Edelman Lecture on Wednesday, March 12, 6:30 pm.
Organized by The Craft & Folk Art Museum (CAFAM) in collaboration with the Anchorage Museum, This Is Not A Silent Movie: Four Contemporary Alaska Native Artists is centered around four acclaimed Alaska Native artists whose groundbreaking contemporary works question institutional methods of identifying Native heritage, examine their own mixed-race identities, and challenge perceptions and stereotypes about indigenous peoples.

Today I joined many like-minded people in the beautiful surrounds of Farmleigh to celebrate Japanese and Japanese-Irish culture. Others brought their friends, their family, their kids and many brought their dogs but I brought my camera.
Experience Japan is an entirely non-commercial, community organisation operated by volunteers. The annual Experience Japan festival in Farmleigh House and associated events are supported by the Office of Public Works, Dublin City Council and the Embassy of Japan. The Experience Japan organising committee are representatives of the Japanese and Irish-Japanese communities in Ireland.

We chose to include Rudy’s in our new book as it is one of the last affordable dive bars, where you can get a beer 🍺 and a shot of whiskey for only $5 and also get a free hot dog with your drink. Rudy’s which was one of the first bars to receive a liquor license in 1933 after Prohibition ended is even mentioned in the 1970 Steely Dan song “Black Cow”: “I saw you in Rudy’s/ You were very high”. Other famous patrons who have frequented this iconic dive bar throughout the years, including Al Capone, Frank Sinatra, Slash, Drew Barrymore, and Julia Roberts.

We teamed up with Joining Hearts, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing housing support to people living with HIV and AIDS in Atlanta, to host the charity's annual Valentine's Day themed, Love on the Rocks event at our Atlanta showroom on Sunday, February 8. The sold-out event was a huge success, raising nearly $25,000 from ticket sales and the silent auction! Thanks so much to the amazing community in Atlanta and all our friends that came out to support!

CAPE MAY COURTHOUSE, N.J. - U.S. Senator Bob Menendez (D-N.J.), a senior member of the Senate Finance Committee, which sets national health policy, today joined representatives from USDA Rural Development and Cape Regional Medical Center to announce a USDA Emergency Rural Health Care (ERHC) Grant in the amount of $989,300.The funding will enable the medical center to purchase essential equipment to outfit nine COVID treatment bays with a negative pressure unit air handling system along with dedicated radiology equipment including CT-scan, X-ray, and ultrasound to reduce waiting time for testing and diagnosing, and providing more efficient, personalized high-quality care.
Commissioner of Agriculture Dr. Ryan Quarles joined Father Jim Sichko, a Catholic priest and a Papal Missionary of Mercy commissioned by Pope Francis, at God’s Pantry Food Bank in Lexington earlier today for a donation of 1,000 pounds of ground beef to hungry Kentuckians.
Earlier this year, Father Sichko stepped in to help a Texas family with nine children after their father suddenly passed away from a heart attack. Father Sichko paid for the funeral and bought a couple of steers from two of the children at a livestock auction. He had one of the steers processed for the family, while the other made a “Miles of Mercy” trip to God’s Pantry Food Bank in Lexington.
Thanks to a generous donation by Delta Airlines to Father Sichko’s mission, the ground beef, and the nine children were flown to Lexington free of charge. After the donation, Commissioner Quarles took the children and the priest on a tour of his family farm and then had lunch with them at Bluegrass Stockyards in Lexington.
