What to do when it's too snowy to work in the garden? Sort through garden photos taken in the summer.

Joe with his hair blowing. This is a sign that he needs to get his hair trimmed. Trimmed not cut. This is just so funny.

On bikes oh yea! What is up with them and no helmets???

When he was going to get his stiches removed.

Joe Wanchura's 1974 Freightliner hauling Ford CL cabs in 1978. This was his last truck. He always carried a bicycle with him. From my collection and this photo has turned red with age.

What is wrong with flickr? I posted this photo and it keeps posting it over and over. I have deleted at least 100 of this same photo!

Just soaking up the sun.

I have this memory from childhood of my Dad referring to me as Joe Summertime. But for the life of me I can't recall the context. Maybe it stemmed from not wearing a coat in the winter which might lead to a comment like "who do you think you are, Joe Summertime?" or something like that. Ah gotta love the Dadisms. Oddly this thought flashed back as I stood in the local cemetery at sundown last evening. I wanted to experience the final sunset of Eastern Standard Time in person rather than gazing out of a window. The clear sky was a real bonus. Perhaps it was the time of day, but the cemetery seemed highly charged. One of those times when your senses are keenly aware of the surroundings. The crisp cold air definitely helped sharpen the mind. As the sun dipped below the horizon I was left standing in this eerie half light, more light in the sky than on the ground, especially with this knoll standing between me and what was left of the sun. I loved seeing the disruption of the normal proportion of light. It presented a wonderful visual boundary line and it sent a little chill down my spine. Anyway, getting back to Joe Summertime, I realized how well adapted I am to summer and extended daylight. The switch to standard time in the fall always knocks me for a loop. Takes weeks to adjust and even then I hate it. It feels like an illness that can only be cured by the return to daylight saving time. The clocks advanced one hour overnight and already, just hours later, I feel full acclimated to the change. Things just feel normal again. And it gets better by the day from now through nearly July as we continue to gain daylight. So maybe Dad had it right about me. Guess I am Joe Summertime.

Yep I want him. =] well I want him WITH ME cause he is already MINE!!! =] Credit to: Mary
