An inspiration to carrying on with life. Joe sells raffle tickets to raise funds for the Hervey Bay 'Older Men Unlimited' group. This organization's aim is to provide a mutual support system for elderly men, many of whom live alone and who without each other would suffer the effects of loneliness.
By his own admission, Joe is in his nineties, a cancer survivor, but a great believer in never giving up and of making new friends.

I hope this is enough to make you forgive all the time i wasn't on here, like 5 month? ahah. I can't believe how many comments and how many views i reached. THANKS!! :D
A LOT of things happened in these months.. One of those is Joe & Demi that went beyond their friendship. You can't even imagine how makes me happy seeing her so happy. You can clearly see it in Demi's face, something has changed. Brightness, happyness & Love are evident. My two favorite people in love with each other? I LOVE IT. I just know that they are the cutest thing ever, after Kevin & Danielle. :) Btw i hope you like this, is a wallpaper, maybe too much pink? haha

I was invited by Joe Rusi to come to a private concert and shoot the band (Joe Rusi Trio).
The concert was a blast and the venue (Buen Kulturhus, Mandal) was really something else when it came to sound, but there wasn't much light to work with, but then there rarely are at concerts :-)
Nearly 1200 shots is probably an indication that I do overshoot quite a bit at times...

Joe was under an awning on the east side of State Street, north of Adams. I introduced myself and he said, "I'm great--I'm Joe--I'm great...and if you believe that I've got some swampland to sell you. He's been out here since he returned from his service with the Marines. "I know how to survive out here", he said with a smile. He told me about his time in the Marines and how he'd shoot depleted uranium rounds from his weapon. Given the tiny amount of radioactivity in the ammunition, Joe was a bit concerned, "that's why I don't want to go to the doctor--there might be something wrong", he said. He asked if he could talk more and he told me about his wives. "My first wife was a great mother, but a horrible wife". They divorced, "We married too young...in high school". Then, he remarried and it was obvious, she was the love of his life. He went on and on about how amazing she was and then with tears in his eyes said she passed away. "I'm still angry at God", he said "I believe in God and know I'm going to heaven, but I ask myself 'why--why did he have to take her?'" That was the center of our discussion for about 15 minutes--how to reconcile the pain and suffering in this world with the goodness of God. "None of us have tomorrow", he said. "I've drank enough to kill me...but I'm still here." Like a Marine, he's still fighting and living and trying to make sense of this world. When asked what his biggest need was, he said "I need an option" (an opportunity for something better). He needed money too, but his main concern was being in a better place emotionally, physically, and mentally.

The Drive
Vancouver, British Columbia
Joe's Café was the first coffee shop to introduce cappuccinos to Vancouver and has been around since 1974. It is located in the heart of the immigrant and activist-laden Commercial Drive area... where lesbian activists, Marxist intellectuals, Guatemalan immigrants, and little old Portuguese men all sit and sip their cappuccinos together peacefully.
The great blues singer Joe Callicott, who I photographed and recorded in Nesbit, Mississippi, in 1967.
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia:
"Joe Callicott, better known as Mississippi Joe Callicott (October 10, 1900 – 1969[1][latter date is unconfirmed]), was an American blues singer and guitarist.
Callicott was born in Nesbit, Mississippi. His "Love Me Baby Blues" has been covered by various artists, e.g. (under the title of "France Chance" by Ry Cooder. Arhoolie Records recorded Callicott commercially in the mid-1960's. Some of his 1967 recordings (recorded by the music historian, George Mitchell) were re-released in 2003, on the Fat Possum record label. His best known recordings are "Great Long Ways From Home"; and "Hoist Your Window and Let Your Curtain Down."
He served as a mentor to the guitarist Kenny Brown when Brown was ten years old."
