We made it to the Wellington Botanic Garden just as rain started. We started a short trip through the gardens, and stopped to get out of the rain at the Treehouse, the gardens' visitors center.
I found Basil the Cat, the Garden's resident cat, perched on a potted plant. He didn't seem too happy about the rain, but neither was he all that happy about having his nap interrupted.
This burial ground, located on a 640 acre grant that James English received for his service in the Texas Army, originally served the Randolph Community. English established the settlement that developed here in 1850. The first known interment is that of Archibald English in 1857. Although James English sold his farm in 1866, the burial site continued to serve the Randolph Community. The Jim English Cemetery Association, which formed in 1978, maintains the burial ground for Association members and descendants of those buried here. (1983) (Marker No. 10989)

On Wednesday, November 25, 2009 Jim and I drove to Cape San Blas to spend the Thanksgiving holidays. We spent Thursday sitting on the beach eating a roast beef sandwich and fighting the wind. On Friday, we sat on the beach awhile and then drove to Apalachicola, FL to see Santa come in on a shrimp boat. We ate a delicious meal at Tamara's Cafe. On Saturday, we drove to Port St. Joe, FL and ate lunch at Dockside Cafe at the marina. Then we drove back home to Georgia on Sunday.

Ah. Jim's Original. Home of the Maxwell Street Polish. This hot dog stand, along with it's rival, Express Grill, has been serving Lower West Side for sixty years. This isn't the original location - it had to move when UIC decided it wanted to build the South Campus. Right now, it's located immediately west of Dan Ryan Expressway, which makes it harder to find. Still, it has loyal customers, both from the surrounding areas as Chicago in general, so I doubt it will go away any time soon.
