Redundant BAe Jetstream 'feederliners' lined up in storage at Kingman Mohave County Airport, Arizona back in October 1996.
I counted sixty five of them there that evening!
Designed by Handley-Page, the British built Jetstream had great promise and was even ordered by the US Air Force. However, as was typical with our Aviation industry - all was not well and Handley-Page failed.
The Jetstream production line was saved and moved to Scottish Aviation at Prestwick - later becoming part of the BAe group.
Exports to North America resumed but only to the civilian commuter airlines where the type was very popular.

The above image is a scan from an original Kodachromeâ„¢ slide. The default size is 2000 x 1250 pixels, so clicking on the photo will enlarge it for better viewing.
The original image comes from my slide collection, amassed over the past 40+ years. They are a combination of my own photographs and ones acquired through trades or purchases.
I created this Photostream in 2017 for the purpose of holding my slide collection as an archive, as otherwise they would just remain in binders and boxes, not being enjoyed by anyone, myself included.

On 21 May 2000 operating for East Coast Aviation Services after executing a missed approach into Wilkes Barre/Scranton International Airport in Pennsylvania the aircraft was vectored for a second approach. The pilot declared an emergency advising of an engine failure. Shortly after he advised of a second engine failure. While being vectored for landing it appeared that the 2nd engine was recovered, however shortly afterwards contact was lost. The aircraft impacted terrain at a steep angle and in an extreme bank angle. 17 passengers and 2 crew were killed in the crash. The report stated the most likely cause was failure to monitor the fuel state and failure to maintain directional control after the engine failure.

After de died, some 18 years ago, it has followed my wife around and sits proudly in my study.
I had planned to take a photo of a bird in our garden at one of the feeding stations but after sitting outside for around one hour, I gave up!! Something to do with our "goddam" cats walking about, I think!!
