The story goes that our island's special flower originally came from bulbs washed ashore after a ship travelling from Africa over 200 years ago was shipwrecked just off our shores.
The bronze statue depicting the celebration of freedom was erected in 1995 50 yrs after the W.W 2 German occupation of Jersey & Guernsey in 1940-1945.
The building behind is the old St Helier railway station which closed in 1936 when the Jersey Rly system closed, now part of the Liberty shopping wharf
Dedicated to those who rescued all 307 passengers when the Catamaran " St. Malo" struck rocks of Corbiere on April 17th 1995 on its passage to Sark from Jersey. With it being a Easter Monday there were many boats + the RNLI nearby whch was fortunate .

Living in Jersey definitely has some massive benefits. Yesterday (Friday) Lucy and I headed down to St. Aubins to have pizza and beer on the beach after a hard day at work. Bliss.

The pic is nothing, but it involved the effort of two people, my wife, who designed it, all the way to the colors and type of letters; and my friend Jesus Marines, also a team member, who designed the logo in front, using the last letters of the Camaleones, to name the four cardinals points of the compass rose, together with some figures representative of the sports we practice!
La foto en si no es nada, pero el jersey lleva el esfuerzo de dos personas, mi esposa, Lucy, que diseño todo el conjunto, hasta los colores, tipos de letra, etc.; y el de mi amigo Jesús Marines, también miembro del equipo, y que diseño el símbolo de la Rosa de los Vientos, con algunas figuras de los deportes que practicamos. Nos gusto mucho la forma de usar las ultimas letras del nombre Camaleones para denotar los cuatro puntos cardinales!
Οι σκέψεις του υπό το Φώς μιας κόκκινης λάμπας κάπου κρυμμένοι όλοι μαζί αποκαλούμενοι ως οι τελευταίοι άνθρωποι που έζησαν στον πλανήτη γη, μα προς το παρόν κάτοικοι κάπου μέσα στη Γάζα οι γυναίκες και στο στο βάθος ο Αντώνης με το μεγάλο πλυντήριο δίπλα του με την μικρή κοπέλα επίσης παρά δίπλα του.
Το πλυντήριο για λίγο ξανά από μόνο του ενεργοποιήθηκε και ξανά οι παράξενες ενδείξεις με τον Αντώνη να κοιτάζει μα τα γυαλιά του είναι γεμάτα σκόνη, κι αμέσως η κοπέλα που βρίσκεται δίπλα του βλέποντας τον να προσπαθεί να δει περί τίνος πρόκειται του έβγαλε τα γυαλιά του ξεχάστηκε μέσα στο σκοτάδι.
Και ξαφνικά η κόκκινη λάμπα που μια από τις γυναίκες την άναψε πιέζοντας έναν διακόπτη που δεν φαίνονταν κρυμμένος κανείς να μην ξέρει πως βρίσκεται στη συγκεκριμένη περιοχή, και μη ρωτάτε ποιος και γιατί περπάτησε επίσης εκεί με τον Αντώνη να πιστεύει πως πέθανε πως απλός ήταν ένας από τους διακόπτες.
Φωτός κι έπειτα ο στεναγμός της μικρής κοπέλας καταστροφικός σεισμός η βαρύτητα που δεν φαίνεται με την μικρή κοπέλα κοιτάζοντας τον κάπως να χάνετε μέσα στις σκέψεις της και τότε τα γυαλιά του της έπεσαν από τα χέρια της, ρήγματα στα έγκατα της γης τεκτονικές πλάκες μα δεν είναι καιρός ακόμα.
Συντόμως ένα ακόμα Πάσχα ο καθένας έχει το δικό του ούτε κόμματα σε κοινοβούλιο να ήταν με τον Αντώνη προς ώρας να κοιτάζει το μεγάλο πλυντήριο, κι αφού το Φώς κοκκίνησε ήλιος διαφορετικός η συγκεκριμένη γυναίκα τους έκανε σήμα πως σύντομα θα βρίσκονται ξανά στο δρόμο εξ όσον φαίνεται κατάπαυση πυρός.
Από ότι φαίνεται είναι κρυμμένοι σε ένα από τα εναπομείναντα τούνελ άνθρωποι που κάποτε έζησαν στον πλανήτη γη ως κυρίαρχο είδος με το Φώς πλέον να είναι κόκκινο μα βλέπουν ακόμα βλέπουν, και τότε ήταν που το μεγάλο πλυντήριο ξανά σταμάτησε κάνοντας τον ίδιο ήχο και μα το Θεό ανθρώπινος δεν είναι.
Ο συνδυασμός μιας επικείμενης καταστροφής το ένα θα φέρει το άλλο με τον Αντώνη κι αφού το πλυντήριο σταμάτησε δηλαδή ξανά βρίσκεται σε κατάσταση αναμονής, πλέον να κοιτάζει την κόκκινη λάμπα και ξαφνικά από του πουθενά να ανάβει μια ακόμα λάμπα και τούτη τη φορά το χρώμα ήταν πράσινο Θεϊκό τους.
Ύστερα από λίγο η ίδια γυναίκα έκανε την εμφάνισης της λέγοντας τους πως μάλλον σύντομα θα βγούμε ξανά στο δρόμο με τον Αντώνη προσωρινά να χαμογελάει το ίδιο και η μικρή κοπέλα, και πραγματικά δεν άργησε να ανάψει μια ακόμα λάμπα λευκού χρώματος με την γυναίκα να φωνάζει πως σε λίγο φεύγουμε.
Ο Αντώνης με τα χέρια του να πιάνει την καριόλα και πάνω της το πλυντήριο περιμένοντας το σήμα περισσότερο σαν έξοδος κινδύνου μοιάζει, μα οι υπόλοιπες γυναίκες δεν ανησυχούν γνωρίζοντας πως πλέον η κατάσταση μετά από έξη μήνες μετατρέπεται σε κατάσταση αναμονής το πλυντήριο ξανά προ των πυλών τους.
Τελικά άνοιξαν οι πόρτες Φως παντού μια αναταραχή φεύγουμε μετά από τόσο καιρό φεύγουμε οι γυναίκες φωνάζουν με τον Αντώνη πραγματικά χαρούμενο και τώρα ξανά στο δρόμο ο Γολγοθάς του το πλυντήριο, η καλύτερα μια συσκευή μη προερχόμενη από τον πλανήτη που ζει και στο τέλος καθώς περπατούσε ειδήσεις.
Μια τηλεόραση αναμένη δείχνοντας Νέα από την Νέα Υόρκη έγινε σεισμός κι έπειτα το επίκεντρο στο New Jersey με τον Αντώνη τώρα να κοιτάζει σαν χαζός λέγοντας ψιθυριστά σεισμός στη Νέα Υόρκη, πως είναι δυνατόν κι έπειτα ένα από τα τραγούδια του με τον τίτλο να είναι πως ο Ιησούς πέθανε χαμογελώντας.

The 31st annual United States Marine John Basilone Parade. SGT Basilone is the only rated man to be awarded both the Congressional Medal of Honor and the Navy Cross. The speaker this year was General Joseph F. Dunford, Jr. Assistant Commandant of the Marine Corps.
Congressional Medal of Honor citation:
For extraordinary heroism and conspicuous gallantry in action against enemy Japanese forces, above and beyond the call of duty, while serving with the 1st Battalion, 7th Marines in the Lunga Area, Guadalcanal, Solomon Islands, on 24 and 25 of October 1942. While the enemy was hammering at the Marines defensive positions, Sgt. Basilone, in charge of 2 sections of heavy machine guns, fought valiantly to check the savage and determined assault. In a fierce frontal attack with the Japanese blasting his guns with grenades and mortar fire, one of Sgt. Basilone’s sections, with its “gun crews”, was put out of action, leaving only 2 men able to carry on. Moving an extra gun into position, he placed it in action, then, under continual fire, repaired another and personally manned it, gallantly holding his line until replacements arrives. A little later, with ammunition critically low and the supply lines cut off, Sgt. Basilone, at great risk to his own life and in the face of continued enemy attack, battled his way through hostile lines with urgently needed shells for his gunners, thereby contributing in large measure to the virtual annihilation of a Japanese regiment. His great personal valor and courageous initiative were in keeping with the highest traditions of the U.S. Naval Service.

“For extraordinary heroism while serving as a leader of a Machine-Gun Section of Company C, First Battalion, Twenty-Seventh Marines, Fifth Marine Division, in Action against enemy Japanese forces on Iwo Jima in the Volcano Islands, 19 February 1945. Shrewdly gauging the tactical situation shortly after landing when his company’s advance was held up by the concentrated fire of heavily fortified Japanese blockhouse, Gunnery Sergeant Basilone boldly defied The smashing bombardment of heavy caliber fire to work his way around the flank and up to a position directly on top of the blockhouse and then, attacking With grenades and demolitions, single-handedly destroyed the entire hostile strongpoint and its defending garrison. Consistently daring and aggressive as he fought his way over the battle-torn beach and up the sloping, gun-studded terraces toward Airfield Number One, he repeatedly exposed himself to the blasting fury of exploding shells and later in the day coolly proceeded to the aid of a friendly tank which had been trapped in an enemy mine field under intense mortar and artillery Barrages, skillfully guiding the heavy vehicle over the hazardous terrain to safety, despite the overwhelming volume of hostile fire. In the forefront of the assault at all times, he pushed forward with dauntless courage and iron determination until, moving upon the edge of the airfield, he fell, instantly by a bursting mortar shell. Stout-hearted and indomitable, Gunnery Sergeant Basilone by his intrepid initiative, outstanding professional skill and valiant spirit of self-sacrifice in the face of fanatic opposition, contributed materially to the advance of his company during the early critical period of the assault, and his unwavering devotion to his comrades and reflects the highest credit upon Gunnery Sergeant Basilone and the United States Naval Service.”
