A beautiful autumn vista, seen from a lookout point above Interstate 80 near Allamuchy, New Jersey, about 35 miles northwest from Newark.

The Empty Sky NJ 9/11 Memorial in Liberty State Park in Jersey City New Jersey is dedicated to the 749 innocent New Jersey residents that perished at the World Trade Center New York, the Pentagon in Washington DC and Shanksville Pennsylvania on that tragic day on September 11, 2001. The names of the 749 inscribed on the interior walls, the walls themselves channel visitors to location where the two towers of the World Trade Center or Twin Towers once stood in the skyline of New York, this the name of the memorial Empty Sky. #developportdev @gothamtomato @developphotonewsletter @omsystem.cameras #excellent_america #iphone13pro @bheventspace @bhphoto @adorama @tamracphoto @tiffencompany #usaprimeshot #tamractales @kehcamera @apple @mpbcom @newjerseyisntboring @newjerseyisbeautiful #911memorial @newjerseystateparks

MNCW #4902 leads #1269 out of East End interlocking and is about to cross the former Greenwood Lake Branch just south of Secaucus Junction. Jersey City's Journal Square is directly in the background.

Amazing what you come across when strolling the streets of an unfamiliar city. This statue is in St. Helier and was sculpted by John Mckenna and features two cows, a calf and a bull - the calf is looking at a toad.

Making what is probably its first appearance since the CNJ pulled out of Pennsylvania in 1972, Jersey Central SD35 2504 visits Bethlehem Engine Terminal.

Euplagia quadripunctaria, the Jersey tiger, is a day-flying moth of the family Erebidae. The adult wingspan is 52–65 millimetres (2.0–2.6 in), and they fly from July to September, depending on the location. They tend to fly close to Eupatorium cannabinum, where they are hard to notice because of their camouflage.

On a perfect day, Beauport Beach, one of Jersey's finest and a famous sun trap, has only a few people on it. St Brelade and Ouaisne beaches, in the background, are only a little busier not to the extent that it is visible at this distance.

Airmail beacon built in the mid-1920's. Airmail pilots would follow the powerful lights on these towers when flying at night on overland routes - this one was on the San Francisco to Salt Lake City route.

The existing beacons are few, people who need a tower have taken most that have a road, sometimes leaving only a lonely concrete arrow or pad. The most remote beacons are relatively intact like this one. It is 2+ miles to the closest road from this location. The "trailhead" is anywhere along the road. There is no trail and without powerful optics (in addition to knowing where to look) the tower can not be seen. Start hiking in the right direction. Like an airmail pilot back in the day, just trust your compass. The road is on one side of the valley and the tower on the other, so the hike will always end with a long uphill stretch. Jersey valley is vast.

Dicen que hasta el 40 de mayo no te quites el sayo, pero en Asturias hasta agosto calor, calor no hace, yo de momento sigo con mi jersey de lana, que iba a guardar pero el clima me obligó a no hacerlo.

Ten peas in a pod!

Jersey Fresh began in 1984 to help New Jersey farmers educate the public about the goodness and abundance of the farmers' goods! These Jersey Fresh peas are from a quarter mile away from my house, grown on a small farm with a roadside stand.

NJ Transit Arrow III no. 1332 (GE, 1977) is seen at Newark Broad St Station leading train 429 from Hoboken to Gladstone - entirely within the State of New Jersey.

Another Jersey Tiger visiting us in mid August. They seem to like our house.

A C-130T from VR-64 'Condors,' a Navy Reserve squadron out of Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, New Jersey, arrives at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base.

Almost ten years of chasing airplanes with a camera and this is the first Navy Herk I've shot.

Many photos of Jersey Central RS3 1554 have appeared on this site as it serves the Delaware-Lackawanna. Here the 1953 Alco is in its original paint on the rails of new owner Black River and Western. A few months after this photo, the 1554 will be repainted in the CNJ “Red Baron” scheme, although I don’t think it was still a CNJ asset. After wearing two BR&W schemes, the RS3 will be acquired by the Hawk Mountain Chapter, NRHS, and returned to its original scheme in 1985.

A view of Jersey City, NJ from New York City (NYC)'s Battery Park with the 2010 lunar eclipse on the winter solstice displayed above the skyline. Last night’s lunar eclipse December 2010 was the first time since 1638 that an eclipse coincided with winter solstice, making it a historic event.

HDR - Nikon d300

A note on this image: This is HDR / HDRI / DRI images composed of multiple exposures. The eclipsed moon is 3 exposures and the skyline 9 exposures. For a great tutorial on HDR please check out Trey's (Stuck in Customs) at: www.stuckincustoms.com/hdr-tutorial/

I felt given the height of the moon during full eclipse that it would have been obvious that I lowered the moon for this image. The colour combination is what i felt made the image work here. The moon was shot with a nikkor 50mm 1.8 and the skyline at Tokina 11mm - 16mm 2.8. I will post later a cropped version per a number of your suggestions.

For me Photography is a way to avail you the viewer of what i see or imagine and since i can't paint its the closest medium i can find that allows me to truly express what i see.

Thank you all for all the feedback - both positive and negative; i never edit the feedback ;) art that generates an emotional / visceral response and dialogue in my opinion is art.

If this were a shot for a newspaper or a fact driven media outlet then I am completely against any software / filter manipulation of any sort.

Again,

much appreciated,

-steve
