Charles Jeffrey House in the Third Avenue Historic District in Kenosha, WI (1904). A large addition was completed in 1925. Charles T. Jeffery was the son of Thomas B. Jeffery, the founder of the Thomas B. Jeffery Company. Charles assumed control of the company when his father died in 1910. The company's trucks were sought by the U.S. Army during World War I, especially the four-wheel drive Jeffery Quad. He was a passenger on the RMS Lusitania, and nearly lost his life when it sank. After the incident, he re-evaluated his life and sold the company to Charles Nash, a former General Motors executive who changed the company's name to Nash Motors. Nash also purchased Jeffery's House. Jeffery spent the rest of his life collecting rare books.
Charles W. Nash was born in Illinois and worked as a farmhand in Michgan after his parents separated. William C. Durant took notice of him in Flint, and hired him as a supervisor for his company. Nash co-founded the Buick Motor Company with Durant and David D. Buick in 1904. He became the president and general manager in 1908. General Motors hired him as general manager in 1910. Nash turned the company's fortunes around, increasing profits to $12 million by 1914. Because of his resistance to offer stockholders a dividend, he was voted out of his position in 1915. After purchasing the Jeffery Motor Company in 1916, he was able to sell over 30,000 trucks by 1919. Nash also bought the luxury LaFayette Motors. Nash retired in 1936. Nash later merged with the Hudson Motor Car Company to found the American Motors Corporation.

About This Event
Following in the wake of the devastation wrought by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita before it, the Deepwater Horizon oil catastrophe beginning in April 2010 exposed the vulnerability of the Gulf Coast environment and economy to natural and man-made disasters—alongside the incredible resilience and determination of its residents as they fought to recover from yet another setback. The federal government took notice. President Barack Obama launched the Gulf Coast Ecosystem Restoration Task Force, including leaders like task force executive director John Hankinson, White House Domestic Policy Council chair Melody Barnes and Under Secretary of Commerce for Oceans and Atmosphere Dr. Jane Lubchenco who will join us, along with a group of Gulf Coast business, conservation and nonprofit leaders, for a conversation about the opportunities and challenges towards restoring the coast, sparking innovation, creating jobs, and protecting communities.
Oxfam America and CAP will also release a report analyzing the vulnerability of the economy and ecology of the Gulf region as both a challenge and an opportunity. The report provides recommendations for a regional ecosystem restoration plan to help coastal communities recover their past strength, promote the growth of new industries, and build a foundation for a new economic future.

A week after an Aussie mum identified herself as the woman at the centre of a high-profile UK child sex ring involving Jeffrey Epstein, the FBI is set to reopen its investigation into the financier.
According to the Daily Mail, investigators want to interview Virginia Roberts, the former 'sex slave' of the disgraced financier and could also quiz Prince Andrew – a close friend of Epstein.
Photographs had emerged of the Duke of York with Roberts who he reportedly met on three occasions.
The revelations have created a furore in the UK, with the government said to be seriously reconsidering Andrew’s position as the country’s trade envoy.
If Roberts spills the beans to the FBI, it’s likely to further embarrass Andrew and mount pressure on UK Prime Minister David Cameron to sack him, reports say.
Now a married mother of three living in Australia, Roberts alleged that her services were offered to a number of politicians, businessmen and international statesmen.
The Daily Mail reports that she also met Andrew - the first time at the London house of Ghislaine Maxwell, daughter of the disgraced former media tycoon Robert Maxwell; the second time at Epstein’s grand New York townhouse and the third on Epstein’s private Caribbean island.
Though Andrew is said to have severed all ties with Epstein, Roberts’ revelations could embarrass him and the UK government further.
There is no suggestion, however, that the prince had a sexual relationship with Roberts.
The Daily Mail reports it is highly likely that the FBI might also question the Prince as part of their investigation.
Roberts stopped working for Epstein when she was 19 after he flew her to Thailand for a massage course where she fell in love with a man she went on to marry.
